Surprised to see all the negative comments on this demo! I had a friend who got to see a demo in Austin early 2023 before the Kickstarter even launched and this is a ton of progress since. The heat up time could be done in conjunction to the puck prep, and all in all looks to be comparable to my workflow on a Gaggia Classic or even a Flair58! Proud to say I am Backer 1 and have no plans on pulling out of the KickStarter!
Interesting, I thought there was a little ring type seal to ensure a faster heat up time, but the chamber was just left wide open. Wonder if they ditched that or it was just forgotten about. Also very keen to know how it tasted.
That seemed to have taken forever. Even with the jump cut. Purge function should be a dedicated button not driving through menus because it’s something that needs to be done every time
This process is quite fascinating. The video was nice, and I enjoyed watching it. The machine looks expensive, but I prefer my $500 Gaggia. I would already be finished! LOL
@@ericanderson1753 the workflow. looks like it takes way too long for what I need in the morning. If I’m looking to use already boiling water I’d just use a flair 58. It’s also pretty delicate looking and not a “workhorse” so to speak, but that’s just an impression from the video, I obviously haven’t used it
@@adamp6862 two things. 1) I don’t think any discerning person has ever looked at the Meticulous and believed it would be a “workhorse.” 2) There will be (and already is on other demo units) a disc that descends about the cylinder to trap in heat and drastically reduce heat-up time. Not sure why it’s not here, but you can expect it on the production unit.
@@ericanderson1753 From my side, I can articulate it a bit better after seeing the Argos Odyssey - not having to use a kettle, not having to use a tiny built in screen, being able to switch between spring and direct lever shots, being able to use a direct pressure gauge or a BT one. There's more mechanical involvement and tactility with the Argos which is something I prefer. Then there's obviously milk steaming. To me, the Argos, Kafismo, and Decent are all superior products and I don't know what would unique selling point the Meticulous would have over them. But everyone's different. You can see, it's quite a complicated field to discuss. I'm happy about the movement in this space. Best of luck to Meticulous, I'll be watching them.
The whole point is to outsource the heating element like a manual lever machine. Just get a $20 kettle and pre heat the water and you wouldn't have to wait as long or waste heating too much water. This machine does away with a boiler and all the problems that come with it, of course there will be some downsides.
@@jontpthow many of those $40 machines can pressure profile or even extract based on a profile? Or have a built in scale? This espresso machine is an automated lever machine. It's going to have the pros and cons of a lever machine.
@@maheshprabhu You're changing the subject. We were talking about boilers, not fancy extras. If you don't even have the basics, who cares about the other little perks?
Yeah we've not seen anyone use this properly to heat water. It should be able to heat from room temp to 90 in about 2 or 3 min, but no one is using the lid or showing room temp heat ups...
Great video Hoon. The machine seemed so cool when launched with Kickstarter last year but now the styling just looks dated and clunky. I’m so glad I pulled out of my Kickstarter preorder
@@Drift-yf4rn I got Pro 600. What I mean was about the water pouring per shot and the water temp waiting time per shot. As if the regular machine with puck prep & distribution isn't tedious enough. Just my opinion and preference. Plus that demo looks sloppy as heck, could've done more effort at selling the product.
@@themodularmodular ahhh I see, yeah demo wasn't great. I don't see the water as being much different though. With a pro 600 you still have a tank to fill, and heat up time on an e61 like that it's about 20 min, vs 3min for this, so personally I see it as a quicker workflow. Plus, with an e61 especially you have to worry about scale, while with the Met I can just fill from the tap
@@Drift-yf4rn i fill up my tank once every 5 days of a week, and have my auto smart plug set 30-45 minutes prior use, but I can see some appealing points as you mentioned, I’m just happy we’re living in the world of options. Cheers!

There is a ring, can be seen on their IG feed from SCA
Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait until mine arrives! But when?
The plan is to ship July. Thus, may arrive in August. Assuming there are no further delays
@@zeltwood... I'm UK and a bit of a late backer, so I anticipate maybe the end of the year for delivery. They have a lot to produce!
Anyone know where I can get a shot splitter like at 5:40 ?
Awesome machine. Did they have the milk steamer or at mentioned when is it coming out?
But how did it taste!!
Cheer~~~showing great attention to detail--- very careful and precise.😊
should have used kettle to boil the water. it would be much faster.
Yeah. They didn't use the chamber cover either. That boosts heating speed as well.

Purge function goes automatically if you put something on the scale. But you can turn that function off in the menu
you can use a electric heater for the water.
I like Lina. Giver her a raise please.
18g in 125g out ?
I'm fairly certain she said 45 out.
Lina doesn't know who Hoon is. Interesting.

Step 1: Become rich
Step 2: Buy the La Marzocco Strada X1 & Weber EG-1
Step 3: Hire a barista to do all the work
Step 4: File for bankruptcy
Cute splitter. No crema though.
You were looking the purge buddy.
Wow I was really looking forward to seeing this demo as it gets closer to release, and man is it disappointing
Right? It just doesn't look fully baked. I'm sure one would end up regretting having ordered the first version of this product.
What is the primary disappointment?
