  • Mythology Sudal, Bhaktapur
The history here is great. If you go deep through it, the place of origin of Kathmandu is also here. This is mentioned in the book called Swayambhu Mahachaitya and Mahapuran. The book was published by Hemraj Shakya, a Pandit from Patan, after 20 years of his study and research. There is a legend that after the originating of Swayambhunath Manjushree came to this place from Tibet via Dolakha, Nagarkot. Legend has mentioned that Manjushri stayed here for 3 days and 3 nights and after observing the lake from here, he visited Swayambhu and sent the water by cutting in 4 places. Afterward, he set the settlement here.
According to mythology at the end of the 11th century, during Milarepa meditating here, King Narendra Dev Malla of Bhaktapur that a white Tara had appeared to him in a dream & told that Milarepa is meditating in this place. After that King Narendra Dev then asked him to bring him to the palace, but Milarepa replied that I am a meditating yogi so I am not allowed to go to the palace, if the king wants to meet me, let him come here himself. Then the king went to him with a white silk robe as a parcel.
According to history, the places connected with this place are Dolakha, Samakhusi, Gokarna, Pashupati Gaurighat, Chobhar, Patan's Tika Bhairav, Lele, Nagarkot, etc.
