Eschutas lighting damage increase is added on top of your lightning mastery so the real damage increase is in fact tiny. It's main draw is the cast speed.

Gonna have to state and warn to anyone going ES, be prepared to do very little damage in comparison to maxing the lightning tree out. The best defense can sometimes be a good offense, and when you can get to around 30-35k per lightning, you won't need much defense, just some HP to take a hit or two.
Which is why I play as an orb sorc as I can max that build and es and tk and give my merc e thresher obedience Andy's and fort. Cold immunes are no longer an issue with that merc.

Best sorc build ever, over 40k dmg. BTW you need to get that nova to 20 skill points for maximun dmg. Energy shield is not needed, just put a single point in forzen armor and you are done.
LMAO! If you aren't using Energy shield, then you aren't using anything remotely close to this build. You are talking about a completely different build... and by the way, whatever build you are talking about, it's not as good as this one, if it isn't using Energy Shield! Any sorc that isn't using Energy Shield, is a waste of a character!
@@cnelsonlv99 def wrong, before the end of last year I was already lvl 97 going on 98. I could do Dclone solo very fast on bnet. I didn't even need energy shield, mobs at p8 dropped to me alone, didn't even need a team, I could solo throne on p8 without any help, and didn't even get hit. Eshield is for ppl that don't understand how to play a caster. If you are getting hit you are playing it wrong.
@@vwturbinado7349 I can do all of those things you said, but the difference is that I am a beast, and don't have to worry about being hit, because I am a tank! Moreover, I also dominate PVP! If you're not using Energy Shield, you aren't playing the best build. This is not debatable!

1:55 the reason that's the case, is because the base resistances of monsters immune against lightning, are the lowest of all elements of immune monsters. Cold immunes, have the highest base resists, and are therefore almost, or entirely impossible to break. Look into resistance calculation formulas, you'll find a lot of insight and it might be a great idea for a video to slap on as well! :)
curiousity fact:
there are only three skills that break immunities - lower resist, conviction, and amplify damage (for phys immunes). Debatable as of right now for a 4th one - cold mastery, as it currently on d2r does break immunity but on legacy, it does not.

Energy Shield doesn't include resistance in damage calculations. The proper ways should be stacking Damage Reduced & Magic Damage Reduced.
DR and MDR should be used to supplement Energy shield. If you're a sorc, energy shield is absolutely mandatory, otherwise it's a waste of that character.

I do the same thing with blizz. Telekinesis synergy is under rated. My merc is very effective. He kills even faster than a Max insight build. Blizz kills faster than a lightning. Also you get ice blast for crowd control for free

I'm definitely doing this for my endgame build. I enjoy the grind for expensive gear in games. Damn near gave my soul farming perfect gear in borderlands 2 😂😂

Great build. But what I need is a build guide from normal level one to an end game character. What skill points to put where and when per level up. The character points to go where when. Also what are the character points on an end build... How many total points in STR, DEX, VIT, ENG? Top equipment, etc... Do you have a detailed build guide on a website that I can follow? I call the spirits 'Gloams' as well, because Gloams are the ones that you need to fear! They kill even high budget build characters. Be specific about the name, ya know?

Energy shield has saved me so many times, but also killed me once or twice by preventing me from teleporting because of the mana drain. I just started hell and I have +2 energy shield and +2 chilling armor granted by a swap weapon. I have nothing invested into energy just full vit so if I find myself in the middle of a boss pack I still might die. Do not underestimate even a low level ES from an item. 💫 No need to put so many points in useless lightning skills especially as a cold or fire sorc! 🔮
What's the stats do you want for infinity? Do people focus more on the roll for resistance or the damage output. Because I would want something more built on neg resistance rather than damage and was wondering the price for a perfect resistance one.
The negative resistance doesn’t do anything if your Merc is holding it. Just the infinity aura. That is why some like to hold the infinity for the extra -lightning resistance to enemy. But CM is much more feasible for that
Found a natural 4os Monarch in the Pit, and got a 33% spirit. Super happy with it. Playing on plugy because i need a new hdd before getting d2r

I only play hardcore and will try to work towards something like this. Would you do anything different for hardcore? More health? What about mana burn? Great build! :)

@@chadpunte1731 That's why I am thinking to maybe have a bit more health on hardcore. Even if you have maybe half the health of a normal sorceress, the PDR still ends up making you more tanky with 0 mana than a sorceress with double your health. So I think it is rather "mana burn is the only thing that CAN kill you (and maybe poison), but even mana burn still kills you less than it would a regular sorceress". Depends how low you go on the health and how high you go on the PDR :)
hardcore go with Physical dam reduction, max block. so its enough str for gear, dex for max block, then rest into vitality. stormshield + shako gives you 45% PDR. Wizardspike is easy to get too. which is massively helpful for hardcore with the 75 resis all.
@@KD-dp5gx Yeah, I played a bunch around with this type of build by now in hardcore. Damage Resistance or % Damage Reduction is nice, but Point Damage Reduction (PDR) is what is really just so nuts. DR and PDR are kind of a non-bo though since PDR is taken into account first. Some say you will die to mana burn, but that is simply not true, with my current build I don't even take damage against mana burn because my PDR is so high, and I have teleported into the middle of mana burn groups multiple times with no issues. Maybe if you teleport into a group with a combination of mana burn AND might aura AND extra strong, but that hasn't happened yet.
I think the strongest defensive stats you can have on gear are Point Damage Reduction (not % based but point based like Sol rune or Life Everlasting affix), Magic Absorb (since it is calculated after resistances where Magic Damage Reduction is calculated before) and finally All Resistances.
Because of how strong Magic Absorb with All Resists seems, I think a lightning sorc with Crescent Moon and Spirit Monarch (both have high magic absorb) is a very strong candidate. Upped Mosers with Max Block also seems like a strong option. I like a mix of Vitality and Energy, the extra mana and mana regeneration it provides is huge with energy shield, I currently have a split about 200 Vita and 100 Energy.

@@ZaeBae22 you will die pretty much right after so does not really make a difference and the reason why is because you don't put any points into VIT so you have like 400 HP
Gladiator's Armor also have some nice damage reduction (18/18).

you could use metalgrid amulet to summon an iron golem lvl 21 with an infinity poleaxe. i've read they follow you even after you logout.
Without Golem Mastery and Resistances the Golem will be weak and you'll be wasting an expensive Runeword

What would you change in status points if you were playing hardcore mode? Would you commit any points into dex for more block? Or still dump everything in energy ?

One annoying bug/feature of D2R (and possibly the original game too) is that a weapon swap also swaps the actions back to whatever you had when you had that weapon. Dunno how many times I swapped to MF weapon+shield and then proceeded to TP straight into the mobs instead of shooting one more frost orb to finish them off as it was the TP spell I had on that set the previous time. Generally I cant say I am still comfortable with keyboard shortcuts although I have mapped the 4 most important ones at A,S,D,F - secondaries at Z,X. Contemplating having rejuvs in e.g. belt slot 4 at any time and mapping space to that as a get out of jail button as I keep missing the 1-4 keys - often pressing two simultanously sometimes. Perhaps you can make a video about configuring the controls to be better?

in 2.7 i like Fire sorc more with Sunder charm, innfinity, escutha, flickering flame to reach -105% enemy fire res with 20-21k fireball dmg, 1.8k to 2.2k life , 75 all res 8% physical dmg reduction 105% Fcr and 90% Fhr 5k defence withou ice armor , block chance i didnt care
Fire immune? P1 oneshots fire immunes , exept for very few fire immunes die 2-3 shots like 1 mob in chaos sanctuary, other than that one mob every other fire immunes die one fireball. including blue/unique enemy, cows one shot without infinity.
Players? Carries Everywhere , you are still one shot killing non fire immunes in P8 , the Lighting and cold immunes in baal runs p8 die one one fireball, fire immunes take more, but its still the most ridiculous P8 Sorc i have ever tried
Why would put 20 points into cold mastery on a lightning build?
Would love to know how your gear is all perf this far in to D2r like that infinity is worth an easy 10 plus hr's when the economy picks up in a few months.
It's in single player dude.... He can cheat in D2 legacy and just transfer his old character in D2r... Or maybe not cheat, but transfer from D2 Legacy
Think they are playing single player with players 7/8 then run lower kurast.

Yeah this is clearly transferred from legacy or made in a hero editor, which is fine. The part that isn't fine is not making that clear to the audience, who if they are new to the game aren't going to understand the amount of time it takes to get this gear. I've grinded out infinity both from lk runs in single player and doing trading on ladder, there is no planet where this guy has both an infinity and a fortitude and a griffons this fast without someone just gifting that stuff to him. Especially since there is not sense of character progression in his previous videos and he advertises lightning orb which is a terrible build for efficient farming. The only people that are rich enough for this type of gear on ladder are the people that farmed ubers day 1 and made bank off torch selling, or the people that played like bots since launch. Single player you have to be the luckiest person on the planet to have this gear already.

Always a good idea to put 20 hard into cold mastery for your lightning builds you'd be surprised the difference it makes.

Pretty mastery only removes like 140%. Anything more you need conviction or lower resist curse

Is this build viable if I only have a shakos, hoto and spirit shield. I have the vipermagi although my def isn’t that high on it.. I have the boots and gloves as well. Oh and tals ammy. I can’t find the right base weapon for infinity so I think I’m just gna toss it on my eth cv. What do you guys think bit worth it? Will this build still work well sign ny gear? Thx.
Good luck getting runes for infinity. Only thing you can trade for ber at this point is like a really high roll torch or something. Ppl probably won't trade those runes off anyway unless they are noobs
Regular lightning does a lot more damage than Chain Lightning, it should be your default skill for dps.
I primarily use lightning for bosses (diablo, Andy, Baal etc)
Chain way better for groups

No, they just patched the cold mastery bug. You can no longer break immunities with cold mastery 😞.

I hate that the sinergy between Telekinesis and Energy Shield is not explained in the skill in-game. It's not that hard to put a sentence there!
How does the "-55% to enemy lightning resistance" of the Infinity ability work?
Is it like aura based? Stacks with the Conviction aura? Or I just assume that everything on screen gets the -55%? Even on the far edges?
Only applies to the merc.
If you plan on using Infinity on your merc, then the -res doesn't matter. The thing that does all the work is the lvl 12 Conviction aura.

How is the dps difference with Crescent Moon runeword for farther lowering resistance?
Assuming Crescent Moon is in your merc, it won't affect damage you do. Only affects lightning damage done by merc. Infinity is used for the aura, not the -% lightning resist.
edit: Assuming you're using it as 1-hander, it'll stack with conviction. dps wise, you'd need to factor your opportunity cost when using CM instead of Eschuta/Occulus/etc...

@@jakl You won't regret it on a light sorc. The numbers will be lower that with an Eschuta's equipped, but the damage dealt will be much higher due to CM's -light res.

Would every sorc benefit best from conviction aura? Like is it a good idea to rune Infinity on my Cold/Fire sorc over another polearm?
Yes but it wouldn’t be as effective.
It’s pretty useless on cold because of the cold mastery. It’s okayish on fire to boost a little damage but it doesn’t expand the zones you’re able to play in, so for that much investment, it’s also pretty useless.
This is one thing that mods of this game have improved on. It sucks that you’re basically forced into one build and one build only if you want to clear more than 2 places
