Watched Tales of Wells Fargo today featuring Darryl Hickman. He passed today at 92. Dobbie Gillis' older brother. R.I.P. Darryl. Always a good guy right to the end.
Sad, Buddy. He also did a Lone Ranger episode with his brother, plus Rawhide, Sheriff of Cochise, Sky King, Range Rider. I tried to convince him to do an interview about 6 years ago, even driving up to Montecito with a small crew, and he just wasn't interested. I'm sure we would have had a terrific conversation.
Holy smokes! First 15 minutes in and I'm reminded once again that however the stuntmen and animals were compensated, it was NOT Enough. That dumping of the horse and rider during the 1st chase sequence was unbelievable. Know these are B westerns but I enjoyed and appreciated them for what they were - a not too serious film that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Thanks Rob and the rest of the AWOW team for the upload.
Good Friday evening to all and thanks for this young Duke classic Rob. His steadfast gaze set the stage on tonight's Santa Fe Stampede. Really enjoying it AWOW team!! Happy Trails🎉
Ray Corrigan and His "CORRIGAN RANCH" always fascinated me. I loved the "3 MESQUITEERS" even with all of their subsequent personnel changes. I always felt that Corrigan never got his "due" as a cowboy and often wondered because he put on the Gorilla suit in all those other movies. Thanks for showing this picture, Rob.
I used to ride on the Corriganville property with Ray's son, Tom, back in the 80s, so it's always fun to see his property used in films. Great memories.
Off topic, suggestion..can you get Frankie Avalon for an interview, please before he as well could be gone ..he was on the full shoot of Duke's "Alamo", and,as i told you earlier, it's how he met Michael Wayne, became lifelong friends, and met Michael 's sister in law,who is still to this day Mrs.Avalon..he has a wealth of stories, a great source that you might not think of at first, but his experiences in show biz, and the way he tells them, are terrific..a dark horse, i would say.
@@AWordonWesterns Frankie is an uncommonly gracious fellow, so solicitous to fans..he can tell you Buster Keaton stories,Jackie Gleason,Otto Preminger,it goes on and on,like I say, a dark 🐴
Love the scenery . . . Santa Clarita, Iverson Ranch, Porter Ranch and Corriganville. All gone now . . . nothing but homes and office bldgs. now !! Shame they couldn't have kept some of that area where hundreds (maybe thousands) of great movies and TV shows were filmed from the 20's, through the 90's. A lot of these so called "B" movies are better than the Hollywood "A" movies they made.
Mr word thank you for the movie!love that John wayne still.why was the big trail such a disaster?I thought it was great from plot on thru!also thought John wayne was John wayne then.lol.the photography was outstanding for a movie of that time.
Hi, Marc. It's a shame that THE BIG TRAIL lost so much money. I think it's terrific and my introduction to our presentation of THE BIG TRAIL in HD on my channel explains it pretty well. Watch that and I think it will answer your question. Best regards.
I like these early John Wayne westerns especially the Three Mesquiteers
i used to watch them every weekend Thank You Rob.🇺🇲🤠🐴🇺🇲
Thanks, roger. These were very well done and it's great to see young Duke maturing from the early Lone Star westerns.
Avalon ..good idea. Hope u can get him. Also, are u still working on getting Audie Murphy's sons?
What a fun little ride!

@AWordonWesterns thank you for the reply also thank you for the shows.love them.
Rob, you're mispronouncing Mesquiteers. The young boy in the opening says it correctly . Similar to musketeers.
Thanks, laurence. I've heard it multiple ways. I've used both pronunciations but the one for this intro was the way Yakima said it to me.
Wonder how many movies Charlie King had roles in ?
Over 400 films .
Countless. I have wondered why he was never "promoted " to bigger roles like Roy Barcroft. Same could be said of Tom London,
The biggest movie star ever? 😮😅 He could only personage himself... I could easily recall at least one 100 better actors by name!
Better actors? Sure. But never a bigger movie star.
In them days they had to act now it’s all computerised
Not very safe handling of firearms by the kids. This looks like what we are seeing in our country right now.
Actors and acting are great but Childish story .
