I remember this song. Unfortunately, the first time I heard it was on a commercial, so every time I hear the song I want to burst into the jingle for a certain well-known soft drink.
Fabulous song that evolved from the commercial 'I'd like to buy the world a c...' Eve and Lyn looked stunning, elegant, beautifully dressed. Today's singers seem to be obsessed with ugly tattoos and piercings.
The New Seekers recorded around 20 jingles for Coca Cola in early 71, including I'D LIKE TO TEACH. For tv the commercial they added some chorus vocals. After the public massively demanded that the radio DJs played the tune, they were asked to record a full length version. They were on tour and didn't have the time, so the HILLSIDE SINGERS recorded one (a little lame in my opinion) that climbed the charts. Then TNS went into the studio and recorded the worldwide hit-version in 1 day. The rest is History
@@SallyWilliams hi, Sally, I just remembered now , I do remember the tv add from back then in the 70s when I was a kid,! Thanks for your comment , thanks again, Sally,
Love those unforgettable Tenor lines by the late Peter Doyle :D :D
I was 15. This is the background to my youth. Still moving 47 years later! Omg where did the time go?

Wonderful. I had always wanted to hear if they could actually sing it live with all the vocal arrangements. They could!
I can feel good feeling of love and peace. 💛
I was 15&remember this like it was yesterday
Over & over R.i.p dear Peter today 17 years passed away..
A mighty and cool song!
I definitely prefer this to the hilltop singers version. One of the great pop songs of the 1970’s.
I must have been about 10 watching the TV advert
songs that you know words to and sing along
A worldwide hit. Timeless.
