    We are Carol & Ken and we are driving our NV200 camper around Ireland. In this episode we visit Tankardstown copper mine, Kilmurrin beach, Annestown beach, Waterford Crystal factory, Dunbrody castle and Abbey.
    Please note the beach at the end is mislabelled but it was too late to change when I noticed 🧐

    That coast road was my daily commute to work. On a sunny morning would stop to see the Sun rise. Not many people know about that coastal drive. That wall that looked like a chimney is in fact a lime kiln where locals would lite a fire to break up the lime stone into dust. This was then spread on the land to raise the pH level for crops and grass

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hugh mc grath you were lucky to have that commute to work, it must have set you up for the day. Thanks for the info on the lime kiln, we didn’t realise it was used for the crops and grass 👍😀

    Hi Ken and Carol Great video and drone footage of your trip loved it especially the tour of the Waterford Crystal factory we had a crystal factory here in Northern Ireland called Tyrone crystal renowned for fine crystal all over the world till unfortunately it closed it was set up in 1971 and closed in 2010 glass making dates back in Tyrone to 1771 they had made one off pieces for the Canadian Grand Prix and a chandelier for the Merchant Hotel in Belfast it was the largest chandelier in all of the island of Ireland weighing in at 400kg and had 2600 crystal pieces and embellished with gold and metal. I'm planning a motorhome trip across the United States and in so far as I can't cook and have abysmal organizational skills she would be a great asset as I'm sure you know. You could tell her the motorhome has an onboard toilet and stand up shower so public loos can be ignored with impunity and a 3 burner stove with oven and built in microwave would lend itself to gourmet meals.....Joking of course.....Looking forward to your next video..

    Why didn't you try and fly the drone through the tunnel? 😂 That Viking is quite a handsome looking guy! Another very entertaining video!

      Cheers Ethan. I wish I had gone a bit closer now as it would have been a good shot. I wanted to fly through but Carol kept refusing to swim out a get it if it crashed 🙄😁

    Surprised you didn't do much of Cork or Kerry - as that would probably be the nicest part of the country scenery wise in my opinion.

      We had planned to do the whole Wild Atlantic Way but having already spent two weeks in Northern Ireland we realised it would take much longer than we thought. We made the decision to come back post COVID when we will hopefully be able to immerse ourselves more fully in the social side of Ireland and see Cork and Kerry at their best.

    Thank you for the tour of Waterford crystal - I own a large crystal cross with a connamara marble base. I purchased it on QVC in the U.S.A. It's beautiful. I love factory's. Have you gone to any wool sweater (jumper) factories yet?

    I thoroughly enjoyed that. You did do a bit of zig-zagging though. You had your dinner in Bunmahon WD but slept in Ballyquinn WX, you then nipped back to Kilmurrin WD, I'm impessed. :-)
    By the way Annestown is pronounced "Bun Abha" :-)

      Louis Finegan there was a bit of a mistake on that last video. When it said Bunmahon on the screen we were actually at Ballyquin Beach! Bunmahon was a bit too far to travel that day! Sorry for the confusion ☺️

      Ahhh Ballyquinn near Ardmore, that makes sense, never mind. I thought it didn't look like the Bunmahon I remember from my childhood. Bunmahon has a wall of sand dunes between the road / car park and the beach. The sand there has little flecks of green copper from the surrounding copper ores. Love the channel.

    I'm surprised they ket you film inside the factory but like you I would definitely recommend a visit there, the skill displayed is brilliant, but watch your wallets eh Ken 😅. Did you go through or bypass lismore? There is a castle there, I believe still lived in, my mums home town many years ago 😊. I am really loving this trip.

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi William. I was fairly confident about filming in there as a friend made a movie a little while ago. The chap I filmed in closeup cutting the small bowl beckoned me to pass the barrier for a closer shot so they are very good there. It can only help there tours as all publicity is good. Lismore was on our list but sadly we ran out of time on this trip.
