It was a day filled with tears and reflection. In the evening, the chaplain came, and we all gathered around Ronnie’s bed and prayed. Ronnie wasn’t going easily. At 11pm most of us left, leaving Wendy her privacy to say her last farewell. I am glad they did that for him.
I have no desire to get into an arguement with anyone about theological ideas, religion, whether they believe in God or not. That's too personal of a choice that one makes. I myself, am a Christian, a devout follower of Christs teachings. And I fall WAY short many times of his teachings. Because I'm not a perfect person. What really pisses me off is when members of my own faith, Christianity, condem others for not believeing. If they don't follow a religion, any religion, that's their choice to make and neither I, or anyone else, has the right to try to jam Christianity down anyone's throat. At the same time, it pisses me off when people try to belittle me, question my intelligence, or tell me I'm wrong because I am a believer. It's not up to me to prove God exists and it's not up to you to try to convince me their is no God. All of that being said, I am a lover of people. We have a responsibility to treat each other with love, compassion and honesty, REGARDLESS of ones religious or non religious beliefs. If a Christian and an atheist were in a burning building, which one would I save? I would try my damnedest to throw each one of them over each shoulder to carry them out together because they are both equally important to the people that love them and want to see them saved. He said, "My friend, (he called me friend and I had only met him 10 minutes earlier) I only wish everyone of every faith thought like you. If it had been presented to me like that when I was growing up as a Catholic, maybe my outlook would be different". He gave me a huge smile, thanked ME for seeing his show and talking with him. I went to shake his hand and thank him for the autograph, when he grabbed me and gave me a big, manly hug! Great guy! Very humble and he humbled me as well. Miss you so much RJD!
My biggest bitch about theists is that so many of them quarter the morality and quadruple the mythology.To me,the point of the bible was not"the world started twice and snakes talk" and all the other wacky things we atheists like to laugh at about the bible,I hate the mythological stuff,but I like when Jesus said to be generous,and whether you're a hardcore atheist(like me) or a devout theist of whatever kind,you should be able to get behind that idea of generosity,of treating people well,more than 'there is a god'.I doubt there is,but I also think this is our chance,while alive,to MAKE heaven or hell,as we choose. In a small club Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia I saw Dio in concert. He and Vinny Appice autographed my 2 CD's. Dio took the time to write my name and a few words and did so in beautiful writing. To be my all time number 1 favorite rock singer and be blessed by his gesture is a memory that is frozen in the cobwebs of my mind. In all this madness, your music and memories brings me solace. Eternally grateful.
I saw many rock bands in the old Jaxx club (no more for a long while now) one thing great about that little dig is that anyone could get some damn close to any band members and truly a very vintage 1980s experience in the 2000s! I knew about Dio playing there but unfortunately haven't discover his music back then to go.. saw Michael Schenker & Uli Roth there though before they close, MS was unbelievably electric there I rmb, I got so close he was sweating on us lol

See this is my problem with religion. I'm a christian and believe in Christ. But according to my faith RJD had to go to hell for not excepting Christ. I can't swallow that. He was one of the greatest kindest all around best people to have graced the earth. I can't believe his reward for being a shining lite and role model of true goodness is eternal hell simply because he didn't except Christ as the messiah.
One of many reasons I walked away from the church many years ago. All evidence points to God being an invention of man to control and oppress man. The bible cannot be the word of God if it is the product of man. So I simply say "I am a man of science."

Develop critical thinking skills which at the least reveal faith should never be used as evidence something man says is real. Dio doesn't seem to have been an atheist, but perhaps he was a deist. I think if confronted with having to choose, taking no middle ground, he would have gone the "no god" route. Just my opinion. What's ironic is that he had a falling out with Vivian Campbell, who I think is an atheist, but yet he got along well with Craig Goldy, a born again Christian. Anyhow, I think he was right about life here on earth being heaven or hell, the only caveat being that the choice is not always our own. Many people no doubt find themselves in bad circumstances not of their own choosing. In the end, life has no real meaning other than the meaning that we attach to it. And it's different for everyone. Dio left behind a monumental legacy of great music. That's his outstanding contribution to mankind (which will outlast his charity work). \m/ \m/
You can get along fine with people who dont share your religious beliefs if you dont insist on pushing them. His differences with Campbell had nothing to do with religion. One of my best friends goes to mass daily while I am an antitheist agnostic. When we get together we talk about cars, racing, music, etc.

The religious label them so they can appear just as irrational for asserting they know there is no God as theists are for asserting there is. To those Christians who say that RJD is badly mistaken, he isn't because the life that we live is a constant onslaught of challenges and battles that we have to overcome to see happiness. Although RJD was an Atheist (which I'm perfectly happy with), he gave a great metaphor of Heaven and Hell. Heaven meaning happiness and Hell meaning evil and agony. He said, "My friend, (he called me friend and I had only met him 10 minutes earlier) I only wish everyone of every faith thought like you. If it had been presented to me like that when I was growing up as a Catholic, maybe my outlook would be different". He gave me a huge smile, thanked ME for seeing his show and talking with him. I went to shake his hand and thank him for the autograph, when he grabbed me and gave me a big, manly hug! Great guy! Very humble and he humbled me as well. Miss you so much RJD!

In a small club Jaxx in Springfield, Virginia I saw Dio in concert. He and Vinny Appice autographed my 2 CD's. Dio took the time to write my name and a few words and did so in beautiful writing. To be my all time number 1 favorite rock singer and be blessed by his gesture is a memory that is frozen in the cobwebs of my mind. In all this madness, your music and memories brings me solace. Eternally grateful.
I saw many rock bands in the old Jaxx club (no more for a long while now) one thing great about that little dig is that anyone could get some damn close to any band members and truly a very vintage 1980s experience in the 2000s! Develop critical thinking skills which at the least reveal faith should never be used as evidence something man says is real.
Humanity may someday blossom to be so much more if we can discard the crutch we rely on in religion and "afterlife". It dodges accountability and prevents us from making the most of our lives. People would not be so willing to die or kill others in wars if they realized this is all youve got. Make your mark and do your best now because immortality will be only found in the positive ways your life now affects those who live after youve passed.

Dio doesn't seem to have been an atheist, but perhaps he was a deist. I think if confronted with having to choose, taking no middle ground, he would have gone the "no god" route. Just my opinion. What's ironic is that he had a falling out with Vivian Campbell, who I think is an atheist, but yet he got along well with Craig Goldy, a born again Christian. Anyhow, I think he was right about life here on earth being heaven or hell, the only caveat being that the choice is not always our own. Many people no doubt find themselves in bad circumstances not of their own choosing. In the end, life has no real meaning other than the meaning that we attach to it. And it's different for everyone. Dio left behind a monumental legacy of great music. That's his outstanding contribution to mankind (which will outlast his charity work). \m/ \m/
You can get along fine with people who dont share your religious beliefs if you dont insist on pushing them. His differences with Campbell had nothing to do with religion.
One of my best friends goes to mass daily while I am an antitheist agnostic. When we get together we talk about cars, racing, music, etc.

A lot of people who are labelled atheist are actually agnostic and some level of anti theist. The religious label them so they can appear just as irrational for asserting they know there is no God as theists are for asserting there is.
To that end every human in history who is honest with themself would be agnostic. Faith does not require factual evidence.
It is frustrating that religious persecution, judgement, and accusations of heresy have always been practiced by people whose authority to do so was merely upon the dishonest claims of divine inspiration- or that reading the bible allowed it.

To those Christians who say that RJD is badly mistaken, he isn't because the life that we live is a constant onslaught of challenges and battles that we have to overcome to see happiness.
Although RJD was an Atheist (which I'm perfectly happy with), he gave a great metaphor of Heaven and Hell. Heaven meaning happiness and Hell meaning evil and agony.
And extra points to the Metal King for referencing the bastards who wrote The Bible which is a book of fairytales that contradicts itself and probably written to coerce others to blindly follow it.
Besides, areas that are more secular have less crimes around it. 75 percent of prisoners in America are Christians and only 0.2% of prisoners are Atheists.

I'm a Christian and i hope RJD accepted the free gift of salvation before he passed. I go against Christians that say that he is in hell right now. That is a disgusting thing to say. If they weren't there with him on his death bed (or even if they where) they do better not saying any thing at all, because only God and RJD knows where he is now. Believing the true gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation isn't religion. Religion is what people think they must do for God and the Gospel is about what God did for us. Salvation is a free gift. We are saved by grace through faith and when we understand that we are sinners that can't save ourselfs from hell and believe the gospel of Jesus death, burial and resurection we are saved forever and will have everlasting life. There is no works required from us to get saved. All we need to do is believe and we will receive the free gift so that's what i hope he did before he died. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
