    People scoff, but these things are really comfortable. We got one for our 'tween daughter because she has cerebral palsy, which makes her hands a bit tense and hard to relax. The polyurethane strings are gentle on the fingers, and the compact size makes it a breeze to transport between home and lessons. I can even help her pick out a tune on it, and I'm recovering from hand surgery myself and don't even play. For such comfortable strings it has a respectable sound. The price was right. We're happy with it!

    Gosh, these instruments look like it is the way to go! They don't sound any different than the regular basses, and they look way more comfortable to play.

    Really like the size of the uke bass , but the most inherent problem is the constant "buzz" if you don't hits the notes cleanly. Any suggestions as to how to rectify this?

    Is the ubass not loud enough to play along side a uke or acoustic guitar w/out an amp?

      No, it isn't.
      For that situation, the double bass was invented.

    What size of ukulele youd say that is? Is it like a tenor? Concert ukuleles look like that too, or maybe a little smalle, i want to convert one to u bass thats why my question.

    • @supermashanja
      @supermashanja 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Major Tom it is size of baritone body, that they use to u bass

    • @majortom4543
      @majortom4543 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice thanks for answering, i think a conversion would not be too easy nor cheap so i think its out of the question.

    • @supermashanja
      @supermashanja 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i think so too. and also because u bass have quite thick strings. there will be almost no place for them on tenor or concert ukulele body.

    Hmmm, not sure what you are using for an Amp and miking but the tone from the instrument is not great. Too much of the plucking sound. I played a much more expensive Uke bass through an amp and was very impressed with the sound. I have a Kala uke I like a lot, but I think I would pass on the inexpensive U-bass based on the tone here. If a beginner is looking for something to get started with Squier makes inexpensive bases with much better tone.

    • @untitleduser666
      @untitleduser666 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If it has a pickup, then yes. A bass amp would work much better, but a guitar amp would technically work

      No, the scale is different, the neck has a truss rod, the strings won't fit, and the neck is wider.

    Your UBass doesn't have a built-in tuner? I ask for I see you have a Snark on it.

  • @Grvthang
    @Grvthang 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They're definitely a cool idea and very convenient, but honestly, if you just listen without looking, you can tell it's not a full-size bass. There's WAY too much finger noise. They sound clunky as hell.

    • @skaterpokerdude
      @skaterpokerdude 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check them out in an amp ;) And they make round wound strings for it now so you get way less clunk

    • @Grvthang
      @Grvthang 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah - the amp amplifies the finger noise. Be sure and let me know when people start recoding with these instead of full-size basses, since they sound so good to your ear.

    • @corneliaomir
      @corneliaomir 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Grvthang Yeah... that was my thought. Sure it's sweet but, if you're going to play something to make deep sounds, and to be tuned as EADG, and it has to be plugged in nevertheless, why don't just play a regular bass guitar, and make it sound better?

    • @lawrencegenereux8567
      @lawrencegenereux8567 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Grvthang The U Bass Ambassadors are recording with them. I've gigged with one often, and I play electric and upright too. It's different, not better or worse. If you don't like it, good for you. I'll make special note of that in my list of things about which I couldn't care less.

    • @Tanglangfa
      @Tanglangfa 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get rid of a lot of finger noise by adjusting the knobs slightly.

  • @gostrum1
    @gostrum1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Disappointing it has to be played with an amplifier ..If you're playing with a regular acoustic ukulele.
    It virtually defeats the purpose
