What happens to the Husqvarna 450. It was everything the Honda wasn't when you reported on it.
If the Honda over heats get a programer and add fuel to the map. Lean motors run on the hot side. Hot motors can take more fuel with no problems. Race fuel or a coolant additive will help also.
Lean engines don't run hotter, it can cool the motor if it's rich, but then you sacrifice power, and have to put more gas in making it heavier.
@@michaelmckay yes, lean engines run hotter, that's how you sometimes (especially on twostrokes) can burn a hole in the piston
@@jakobnorrestam not two strokes, four strokes is all I'm talking about. Two strokes are something else completely. Four strokes do not run hotter because they are lean. Most think they do because running rich can cool a motor.
@@michaelmckay yes they do, haven't you seen burnt pistons from a fourstroke? A rich mixture is cooler than a lean mixture, no matter if it's a twostroke or a fourstroke, you can't say no to that.

I never actually look at the camera, my eyes are 100% on the road. That's why I have the sunglasses on.

No need to fully understand how a Honda works for you, the fact is IT DOES. Steering stabilizer and revised forks, you should be at a new level upcoming. I used to be pretty close to kehoe, I hope he’s watching you,.
My dad always told me to lower my fork tubes in the triple clamps to make it more of a "chopper" to help with a twitchy front end at high speed.

I grew up riding Honda’s looking at the 2020 but the chassis is super sensitive too set up Thanks for the input on the clutch, please let me know, might try the stabilizer with the SFF triple clamps. But race tech, thanks I’ll look into it...
Hey Jeff, I finally got myself a bike. After 4 years of not riding, I just got a 19 crf450r and the things a beast. I live in a really small town and the nearest place to ride is about an hour away, I do have a track at my house but there isn't much of any jumps. I was wanting to ask, what could I do to become a better rider? I would like to race one day. Thank you
Wanted to point a few things out, you really shouldn't be blogging while your driving because I'm sure its illegal in all states now. Also I have noticed in the moto industry I hear alot of riders say "Like I said" and trying to figure out when that started. It seems every moto rider on TH-cam, someone is saying "Like I said"...lol

Honda's are just that good! I've always ride Honda's always liked Honda plus as a youngster in the mid 90s Honda was killing everything!

When I see guys like you I always wonder what the difference is between you and the top guys. To me you look like you're stupid fast. I'll never be that fast. But not as fast as a Ken or Eli. So is it mostly the bike? Really don't mean this in any way condescending. But I'm not a pro rider by any measure of the word. So I'm always curious as to the details of the sport. You see how top guys like Ken train and things like that. But again I see a rider like you and can't understand how you could be any faster. So where are the differences?
At a local track like this there isn't much difference. If Tomac came out on a regular practice day he'd probably be 2 seconds faster than me. The difference comes when you get on a pro national track with insanely gnarly breaking bumps and ruts. Those guys just don't slow down in that stuff! I wish everyone had the opportunity to ride a pro national track on pro day just to see how hard it is to keep it on two wheels for a whole lap haha

I know how you feel about used to a brand. When I raced 80s full time to semi pro I road Suzuki. The only time I felt fully comfortable on a different brand was the 1st yz250f. I felt like I could do anything on that bike.
I’d never heard of you(sorry no offence I mainly follow GPS) and started watching your videos because Honda and you’re a good rider. Then I seen you in MX Nation and realised you raced 250 nationals this year and thought it was awesome. I only really watch 450 nationals and 250 if I get tine and can find a video. I love vlog style motocross videos anyway so I subscribed.

I’m on a 19 Honda 250 and I put my forks in the clamps at 3mm instead of 5 and lowered the lowered the sag like 1-2mm and it helped sooo much with my front end twitcyness

Breaking it in the good way I see! Not going to lie, these tracks you practice on seem to be alot smoother than the tracks you race on for nationals. Is there any tracks that are more beat up near you?
Unfortunately (for me) all practice tracks have to cater to the vast majority of the riders aka keeping the track super smooth and safe. Nowhere really to train for pro nationals. It stinks, but I understand why they have to do that

Jeff do you need to add fuel with a programmer for the exhaust? I'm ignorant about dirt bikes but with my hayabusa I had to add fuel with a full exhaust install to make her happy.

Not that kind of rekluse lol. This is the torqdrive system, not the automatic system

If you haven't done it yet, try dropping your forks to 3mm. Swapmoto live mentioned that and they said it helped a lot for the twitchy front end

Jeff, may I recommed MXRP suspension. I have it on most of my bikes and it is great. I highly recommend them if you want some awsome suspension

Jeff, for us mortals that have to buy stuff. Do you think the rekluse is worth the price? I've been thinking of getting one since i do tend to at times come in hot and make mistakes that end in the bike stalling in corners so i was hoping the rekluse could help with that. Also how is it starting of the gate with the rekluse? Great to get some more content from you guys, keep it up :)
On the Honda 450, they are definitely worth the price. With a stock clutch, they go through fibers in as fast as 5 hours depending on your skill level. My Hinson clutches have all lasted well over 25 hours. I'm assuming i'll have similar results with the rekluse
@@JeffWalker84 Okay sweet. I run a KTM sxf 250 - 2018 haven't had problems burning through my clutch so its primarily to correct my bad riding technique
How many times in a week do you do physical training and how much riding?
With how crazy school is I’m lucky to ride once a week right now, but I’m in the gym or on my bicycle 6 days a week

Do a lot of pros run the Rekluse clutch?? A lot of guys in my class (old and slow class) say that the Rekluse is just as important to them that suspension is. Is it that good??
I'd say it's a pretty equal split between Hinson and Rekluse at the pro level! In my opinion a clutch is extremely worth it. Every time I land a jump on the power I can feel the stock clutch slipping a little bit and the fibers are toast in 4-5 hours. The Rekluse provides instant power and lasts MUCH longer
