What you said about jazz is very accurate because jazz was influenced by the persian traditional music

This is actually persian classic music . And after are philosophical texts or poems from 800 years ago with deep meaning hard to translate .the style of singing calls Tahrir , which has a quite long history . The original idea was to use the voice ...Iran's classical art music is vocal based , and the vocalist plays a crucial role,as he or she decides what mood to express and which dastgah relates to that mood . In many cases , the vocalist is also responsible for choosing the lyrics . If the performance requires a singer, the singer is accompanied by at least one wind or string instrument, and at least of type of percussion . They they believe back then Tahrir was created by observing how birds sing ... homayoon shajarian is the son of grand Master of persian Tahrir ,Mohamadreza shajarian ,who died few month ago ....often singer learns years by being student of a master ( the relation between the master and student is based on respect and being humble) and homayoin had of course with his father a very good teacher to learn from ....

Iranian music and Jazz have a lot in common. The art of improvisation both from the singer and the musician side is very very common. Also, there is what we call Avaz (vocal) and Javab e Avaz (Response to the vocal by the musician). Different instruments and the singer feed off of each other and react and respond to each other's feelings.

This style of Iranian traditional music is about 1000 years old. There is a technique in this style called tahrir . That a note breaks several times quickly. Exactly the opposite of opera, where the notes are complete and in their original form. But the common denominator of this style with opera is that its singers must have a very strong voice. And in traditional Iranian music, traditional instruments are usually used only. But for the first time, Homayoun Shajarian used electronic composers in combination with traditional instruments

Shajarian's newest song is called Asmane Abri (Cloudy Sky) . It's different from Sanama, it's much slower and finely meditative, drifting through a moving melancholic mood. Its beauty is sublime. I highly recommend it. By the way, the instrument is called Kamancheh.

Oh, this is lovely. His vocal technique is quite interesting. It's used differently than what I've heard in arabic-influenced countries. Seems like he uses kind of glottal technique.
I also appreciate the fact that you try to expand your musical horizon! It's ok if you don't know everything.
If I may make a recommendation that's also world music? I'd like to watch a reaction to Idir - Vava Inouva. Idir was a very loved (and is very missed) singer from the Amazigh community of Algeria (from the Kabylie region) and this song is a discussion between a father and his daughter. It is a very beautiful song.

its traditional iranian music. those vocals you said as a kid voice that changes the tone in short time periods are the absolute skill of 30 years of training and it does not come from the surface of the mouth, it comes from the depth of throut and its the real skill of iranian traditional music. by the way, persian traditional music has an older history than jazz.

This is Homayoun Shajrian one of the top Persian traditional vocalists. His dad, Mohammadreza Shajarian, was widely accepted to be the greatest traditional music maestro in the country and did a lot to keep the traditional music relevant. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of months ago. You can check this high-quality performance of him in 2013 which probably was one of the last times he performed live. You can see the max level of the techniques you are interested in very pronouncedly. It's like a jazz style mash of three poems. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in traditional Persian music:
    th-cam.com/video/GnI4R9Bdl3g/w-d-xo.html
Also if you are interested in more fusion style from Homayon, you can check this awesome song with subtitle which is a Persian traditional and western orchestral music mixture:

Homayoun is the son of the brilliant Mohammad Reza Shajarian (RIP🙏). Check out the father's tiny desk concert. th-cam.com/video/GnI4R9Bdl3g/w-d-xo.html . He sang beautifully into his older years. What a gift to the world, & so many are deeply grateful that his son is carrying the lineage.
There is also a super fun animated video for Sanama: th-cam.com/video/Yoa_aTdqqjg/w-d-xo.html
Many years ago I was gifted a concert with both father & son, by a friend who was playing kamancheh with them. They were staying in a huge house, & offered me a place to stay because I had a 4-hour drive home. They fed me an amazing Persian dinner. Some of the kindest & most generous people I've been blessed to meet in my life.
My specialty is Turkish, but I have sung quite a bit of Persian, & work with many musicians from the Balkans, Middle & Far East. I love hearing people's reactions who haven't known these styles for long. Thanks for being adventurous!

Iran has recently produced a rap music with the presence of 39 rappers. If I were you, I would get to know the type of music, people, historical monuments of Iran and tourists, and the dialect of every city in Iran and the type of their clothes and manners. The name of this family song is 2. I hope you see it, but the time is about 18 minutes, so I ask you to see it for yourself first, then if you like, play it for your friends as well.♥

I've noticed that recently many people from around the world, weather they have music knowledge or not, are creating similar TH-cam videos about Homayoun Shajaryan and his music. Quite clear that their main motive is to get views and subscribers and make some money with youtube.
As an Iranian I would love to see more and more people getting to know about Iran's music and culture, but so far I've seen no integrity and genuineness in people making these videos. They try to look genuine but no..its not working.
