    This is not a product review, more of a product description. A review would be using the unit talking about how it's melting solder, Removing parts. both Iron and Air alike. JS!

    Oh, if other people from Germany are watching this, I recommend you buy one directly from Aoyue. On Ebay (Germany) you pay €15 to €60 more for the 968A+.

    Cheers. Been running one of these for near on 5 years. Paid for itself over and over. Mostly computers, drones, stuff for friends and family. Not an expert but mostly smd and through hole. Very reliable workhorse. Never calibrated the iron. Not sure how to actually measure the tip temperature safely lol.

    I don't have this particular unit, but have the 2702 workstation, and I must say, it's been a beast, still going strong after 10+ years, the only shame is that it's hard to get ahold of the plug-in type tips these days.

    So Im New to using a Hot Air Nozzle, Up to now Im old school with solder pencil and Bulb Technic. Does this Unit allow for using this " Fume Extractor " which I dont care about for a Desolder Vacuum ? Is this usable ? My Biggest issue in solder board work is Removing solder after it melts ....will this unit suck it up ?

    I just brought a second hand (no pun intended) 968 not the 968a soldering station for $55.It seemed like a decent unit and i could not complain about the price.The guy i purchased it off says he also has a weller and this works just as good as that.I am new to soldering and electronics but have recently gotten myself an interest in RC helicopters and Quads.I was initially a little distracted and had to replay a couple of times but when i realised it was your hand and not your foot,fantastic vid.

    Which wand are you reffering to. The soldering Iron stand that comes with the unit is very nice. It is heaving and made of steel. The holder for the hot air gun is mounted on the side of the unit and works very well also.

    thanks a lot, waiting for your reply eagerly. Gowhar (INDIA)

    You have a great deal of experience (1HandTech) with these multi-function hot air
    stations. I'm a weekend warrior type so I was looking for a lower cost basic station. The 968A+ and the xtronic are more than I was hoping to spend. I've seen a 853D for about $90...but it seems there are several companies that manufacture an 853D model - Yihua 853D, WEP 853D, and I see a no-branded version of 853D
    on ebay, and I see a Kendel 852D frequently...are these lower cost units junk? I'm struggling with all of the 853D variations...it would be cool to see a matrix of features
    for these 3-in-1 units.

    Hi! Nice review... I just saw the hot air gun hose has spring reliefs on both sides; I have this rework station for 1.5 years (to all my satisfactory) and never knew it was included. Mine doesn't have those reliefs... but I'll take a look into the original package. ;) BTW: I just bought the Aoyue 474A++ desoldering station also... the pair match together just fine!

    Hey great detailed review. I'm torn between getting this 968A+ or the Aoyue 2702A+. One big difference is that the 2702A+ also comes with a desoldering iron, which uses the exact same power connection as the soldering iron and same vacuum tube as the smoke absorber. So I'm wondering if this 968A+ can also fit the replacement Aoyue desoldering gun to the same connection as the soldering iron and smoke absorber. If it is compatible, would you think the pump is strong enough for desoldering?

  • @1HandTech
    @1HandTech  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am not sure if the pump on the 968A+ is strong enough but I have the 2703A+ now and I am using it before doing a review on it. It is the upgrade from the 2702. Stay tuned for it as it may be a better choice than both of the options you spoke of. In the mean time, I will find out about the pump on the 968A+ and see if it will work or not.

  • @WhiteFireDragon
    @WhiteFireDragon 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the reply. Only major difference between the 2703A+ and 2702A+ is that the 2703A+ has 2 power connections to use the soldering iron and the desoldering gun simultaneously, where as the 2702A+ can only use one at a time. This feature is hard to justify a $80 price difference.
    Anyways, I was particularly interested in a desoldering gun that will work with the 968A+, so can you quickly plug in the gun from your 2703A+ into your 968A+ and let me know? Much thanks!

    We didn't get to see the vacuum wand in action. Does this use the same hose as the smoke remover? Do you pull the hose off the soldering iron side and attach it to the vacuum wand? Good review though - I appreciate the overview.

      I should do update on this video, after using for a while I noticed some other things as well that I didnt particularly like. I do not have this model anymore still use the Xtronic one. All in all better products than the Aoyue ones. They are still decent products that will get the job done at a very competative price though.

    I think these 3-in-1 station are great as long as you get good quality ones like this one. If you were to buy them all as seperate machines you would have different peices of equipment, probably taking up more space on your workbench and more plugs to worry about. Having all of them in one small form factor unit is besst but don't just go out and buy any of them. There are a lot of generic copy cats out there nd you could get swindled.

    I will be having the unboxing of the 2703A+ uploading later tonight or tomorrow morning and the review will be coming up very soon after. As for the X-tronic products, my new favorite is the 9020. It uses a hakko heating element and has much better thermal recovery of the soldering iron tip than other models. Stay tuned for all of the reviews and teardowns of these products.

    I am sorry about not including the vacume wand in the video, but I will be uploading another video about this unit with a teardown and a look at the inside of it. I will try and include it on that video. But to answer your question, yes it uses the same suction point as the fume extractor does. They both have seperate hoses, but they look to be the same width so I dont think it really matters which hose to use.

    There is nothing wrong with the software controlling the temperature. The temperature is controlled by a PID controller. The PID controllers by design will swing the temperatures high and low, back and forth while getting closer until the PID finds the voltage that is necessary maintain a temperature setting.

  • @1HandTech

    No they do not. The 6040 uses a proprietary nozzle for the heat gun but the 968A+ uses the same nozzles as the 4040 unit does.
