First off, my day started with a bump as I had to send my car for repairs around Sungai Pinang in Georgetown. But hey, every cloud has a silver lining, right? So, I decided to turn this inconvenience into an opportunity to explore Penang's renowned street food scene.
After dropping off my car at Nissan, I strolled over to a well-known roadside hawker area, tantalizingly famous for its mouthwatering array of dishes. I couldn't resist indulging in a bowl of aromatic curry mee, complete with an assortment of goodies like cockles, blood cake, tau pok, and cuttlefish. It was an explosion of flavors!
With my belly satisfied, I initially planned to trek down to Siam Road for some legendary uncle's char koay teow. But fate had other plans! Halfway through my walk, I had an epiphany - why not explore Georgetown via Rapid Penang bus? And that's exactly what I did!

Yes it is, actually the more popular routes have a higher bus frequency. If you need to go to Georgetown and Komtar, there are many options with shorter wait times.
You can take any bus from CDK to Komtar first. There can interchange to all buses.

That's a very good idea. You could introduce good places to visit while in Penang. Preferably not too touristy. Places for good walks with good pathways, scenic views, penang highlights, places where one could visit say for cafes hoping and even places where they allow pets.
Lol.... 45 min wait for a bus trip thats also 45 min, that's like 2 hours gone. I will die of heat exhaustion waiting 45 min at a bus stop without shelter😅. Too pampered as a singaporean
The wait is too long! But even so, the bus was quite empty. This 102 bus starts at Penang International Airport and comes to Georgetown, the goes all the way to Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang where the hotels and resorts are. It is the cheapest way to get to your accommodation if you fly in to Penang but the frequency is 1 bus per hour. Actually what I should have done was take any bus (the 201 or 304) to Komtar then change buses to Tg Bungah. The bus system is such that the main interchange is at Komtar... all buses will pass through Komtar.

Last year we were there looking for this place, I remembered there was the fish beehoon with the red fish sign n the roti panggang stall. We drove up n down but culdnt find .. thinking that the whole place had moved away .. will try again this round :)
They close pretty early, sometimes by 11am already finished especially on weekends. The place was pretty full even for a Thursday!

Ya!!! I would have been embarrassed to get into someone's car. All the buses have aircon, plus you get to see Penang from a unique viewpoint. Bus was clean and comfy.
You got your work out.......now you can eat more.....There is good food everywhere you go. When I service my car I get dounuts and coffee. 🤣
Donuts are another weakness of mine... I can't look at donuts I would be so tempted hahahaha. It rained again last night, I am thinking of taking the bus again to go collect my car. Perhaps drop somewhere else and eat something I wouldn't see from my car along the way.

Since you like to eat and eat a lot, brisk walking or takes a walk after breakfast, really burn calories. I think should do it more often. Exercise the 2 legs. Looking at the streets and traffic, it will takes awhile for me to familiar yr areas. Btw, bring water bottle if you walk down the streets. Otherwise you will get dehydration. Aiyoh.
Yeah I should walk more. I used to cycle a lot. Now I am driving the kids and family all the time. I should carry a water bottle, you are right!
