Nice one Mick and Dan. Dave in Blackheath here (Dan, you borrowed my bike earlier this year). Love your vids very much!! Take it easy and hope to ride with you both one day!
Cheers for the vid. Perhaps consider a sawyer water filter and a Cnoc bag..... no worries about water quality then. Dont get the smaller sawyer mini as they block up easier....and don't let them freeze.... It ruins them. Apologies if you already know this or have one. 🇬🇧
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. We used an MSR gravity filter. But to save time, we filter water at camp each night. It blocked up with bad water in Central Australia a few years ago!
@@MickTurnbullFilms My favorite filter is the Katadyn Be Free 3L bag. I attach some tent line, then hang the bladder from your handlebars to filter drip directly into your water bottle. That way you don't have to stand around and squeeze a bladder system. Other bene is the Be Free does not need back flushing, just rinse and agitate in clear water to remove debris. The only concern regarding water collection in that area might be mining run-off and heavy metals in the water. Usually the NFS rangers, or BLM can advise on that for each area in the desert or mountain west. Great video, thanks! Happy trails!
Thanks for the feedback. The Katadyn sounds like a good system - it can be a pain the back flush the filter of the MSR. Good advice about the possible mining in the area - I never considered that! Glad you enjoyed the film.
Isn't that a great route?! I rode it a couple of years ago. I stashed 4 l of water where the Escalante road joins the route by driving out and back 15 kms, then left my vehicle parked at Grosvenor Arch. I hope to ride your Red Centre (Alice) route next year. Cheers
Great video, perfect length. I’d like to ride this loop; I live about five hours away from it in Arizona. It seems challenging to find a time when it’s not too hot, yet dry enough to avoid the awful mud in this area; during what month was this ride filmed?
As of April 2024, the Big Water VP gas station is closed for renovations. You will have to ride 6 miles further one way to reach a Flying J gas station on the border of Arizona. Make sure to call the VP before your trip and verify whether or not they have reopened.
Hope you enjoyed. Check out my channel for other Utah films.
Great video! Beautiful.
Rad film ;)
Another fabulous film Mick and Dan. That landscape is truly out of this world.
What a nice trip. I really like your videos; beautiful places, filming and editing. Inspiring me to follow your steps. Good on you mate
Awesome, thank you!

Such a fun route! Hope you get to ride the Red Centre - it’s an amazing outback ride.
Great camera work and content but most importantly you didn’t include every minute you recorded! 👍
