@@NaickKim I generally fine with the time, but it depends on one of my friend, she will travel from Australia to Columbia, then Myanmar, Vietnam, finally China ... in two months. I thought she is crazy.. but I respect .. maybe we will spend 2 wks or more, for her and other friends who only travel to China. I just recommended some most important cites to her, she said she loves rural and natural areas, no big cities, hahahaha..
These China videos will be my travel bible, which I shall consult before my trips to the south. You guys have been to more places in China than I have, and I have lived in the country for 16 years...

@@NaickKim I'm thinking the province of Yunnan, towns like Dali, Shangri-la and Lijiang are definitely on top of the list. I've seen so many pictures of them, and they seem like the places that are perfect for like a 2 week trip.

I experienced a stampede before in China at Jiuzhaigou ( a really super beautiful national park in Sichuan, you should go there in autumn). When the eco-coach pulled up at the bus bay, all the local tourists lunged forward as if it's their last day on earth before hell closes! So ya, could mean that when there's a crowd.
The rushing and pushing when a bus or vehicle arrives has happened to us as well. Pretty crazy haha 😀

Not sure if 云南Yunnan was on your list, since it is not far from Guangxi, the province you are in right now. As a Yunnan-born-shenzhener, I really recommend my hometown. It has the most diverse natural ecology and ethnic customs in China (Yunnan alone accounts for 26 of China’s 56 ethnic groups). 大理Dali, 丽江Lijiang, 香格里拉Shangri-la, 西双版纳Xishuangbanna are the most well known tourist spots.
Yunnan looks really amazing and it is on the top of our list for our next visit. We didn't have enough time to do it this time. But we will definetely be coming back to China.

I was in china last year following a tour so i didnt have the chance to really explore china ....damn, i wish i had the guts to do a wild trip like you both, this is ssssooooooo much fun!! Enjoy life while still can!!!!! God willing, next year i would make a trip again to china.

This looks like a LOT of fun. How "safe" are you riding there, though? After the second time I was hit by a car where I live I was convinced to give up commuting to work, and just wondering if cyclists are treated better there?
It wasn't super safe tbh haha. But I guess the locals are used to those crazy tourists on bikes!

just curious how long your total trip is going to be and how much time you took planning all this?
The initial plan was for our total trip to be around 1 year, but we'll see in a few months 😉 the only plan we had before leaving is that we would start in Mexico, travel down through Latin America and then move on to Asia. We didn't plan a route or book anything in advance. We just bought a 1 way ticket to Cancun, booked a hostel for the first few nights and took it from there. That way we had freedom to change our route along the way because there was no fixed itinerary 😊 the only thing that did take planning was saving up enough money 💸 before leaving, but other than that there was no plan 😉
my hometown is another city in Guangxi province,called Liuzhou,it is about 150km from Yangshuo ,I went to Yangshuo and Guilin many times.Your next stop Nanning is the capital city of Guangxi province.My ancestors were Vietnamese immigrants.And now I work and live in Shanghai.Wish you guys have a nice trip in CHINA and VIETNAM ！！！

I watched a lot of your videos and I noticed you two constantly refer to the locals as "Chinese people" rather than just "people". I'll bet that when you're moving about Western countries you don't do that when referring to their respective locals. A vestige of the Western Orientalist, dehumanizing belief that Asians are somehow always the unrelatable "other" perhaps? Aside from that, nice videos.
I get why you may find it odd but it's not at all coming from a bad, let alone 'dehumanizing', place 😳🙄 the reason it strikes us as different is bc there are hardly any Western tourists like in the rest of Asia (eg Vietnam where we are now) but looooads of Chinese domestic tourists. Which is just something we're not used to and find interesting 🤷🏻♀️
Did you guys experience anything really annoyed you such as policemen harassing, feeling unsafe because you are foreigners, afraid of no freedom?
No, not at all. People have been exceptionally friendly. In Nanning we were looking for a shop to print our Vietnamese visa and asked a couple of people who pointed us to a shop. It was closed,so we asked someone else. That guy went with us for a 15 min search for a print shop. He had to ask around a couple of timed but made sure we found one. Super sweet. If we couldn't find something and we asked police, they were always helpful. We didn't feel limited in our freedom. The only negative experience we had in 6 weeks was a taxi driver who was using a fraudulent meter in Shanghai. We just paid the normal price and walked off.

ALSO...check the map, YangShuo is faaaar from the border of Vitamin and Laos... YangShuo is in the northwest part of GuangXi province, if you track down Straight to south, it’s the ocean!😂

Since I cannot see the Chinese sign ,I guess the 'no stampede' sign means you cannot step on or cross the fence. In those rural area people are not good at English, so they will Baidu(Chinese version of Google) it ,translate it and print it out. The translator may misunderstand what they really want to say,that could be the most reasonable explain.

Renting a bicycle only costs 10RMB （1.4dollor） a day in Yangshuo...but renting an electric bike is more efficient and only costs 40RMB
We almost took an electric bike but figured we might as well get some exercise haha 😉 to work off all that delicious Chinese food,

Thank you for sharing your VDOs.You've done a very exciting trip in China. We've been to Beijing already and the hotel had no internet while they put in Agoda website they have. And the sim card with Chinese number cost about $30, we've got no translator apps. So if we decide to book hotel as we go along places in China I think it's very hard. Just wonder if you guys book hotels in advanced or you look for hotels as you go ( otherwise it's hard to make plan, isn't it ? ). Appreciate your answer guys . We plan to go 1 month on the next trip but find it's hard to make plan.
We book as we go. It gives us some flexibility to stay longer in places where we like it. It's very easy with a local sim card. We both bought a sim with a Chinese number, it was 13 or 14 usd per card including 20 GB of data. So nowhere near 30 usd actually. Then you just install a good vpn (we like surfshark) before you enter the country and voila, you can use every website you could possibly want while you're in the country 😊 if you have any more questions let us know

How do you manage for the visa while in china for so long? I was in china for 10 days which was a short time to travel uuugghhhh
We requested our visa while we were in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. There you can get up to 60 days as a Belgian (30 if we'd request it at home). We asked for 55 and somehow got 57 🤔😜
