Can You Catch False Albacore at the Cape Cod Canal??

- The Canal got a good albie run this season.... Saw them a few times without actually catching them before I had the success seen here, which was just mild success. Generally Id consider the canal to be a cruel and unusual place to target albies but you could certainly do better than I did if you pick the right spot on the right day.

I have had poor luck with them lately on the beaches too. Cast at them and get no bite
Are you using relatively thin flouro leader material? Important for successful albie fishing.

Split in half and cook on a super hot BBQ with Italian dressing brushed on they are decent eating, and smoked they are really good. Like Bluefish, some can't stand them and some of us like a few every year.

That lure is legendary haha. Been using it over a year and absolutely kill blues with them. Can cast a mile too
works well a lot of times but when theyre picky it doesnt get bit like an epoxy does.
Can always try for Scup near the train bridge around slack tide if it’s slow.
The bass are all at Taylor Swifts house. Watch Hill just east of her house been a week straight of basically non stop blitzing on the beach. Plenty of Albies still around too. I don't target them but got a nice one on a size 14 X-Rap Bunker color if you can believe that?!?!?! Lol it was hard for me to believe it!
Honestly you're so lucky you got out of PA, fishing here is trash now. Big flatheads are more scarce than ever, all the muskies are gone, I can't even find any walleyes anymore and I used to have quite a few honey holes. I think everything just got ruined by spot burning and overfishing.

Thanks for the upload. I'm down in Jersey and fish from shore from Sandy hook down to Island Beach. I haven't tried for Albies yet, I haven't really seen any indicators while I've been out. I use a tsunami airwave 8' mh with a spinfisher 4500 for fluke in the spring. Would this work for Albies, or is it too stiff?
should be fine. There are def albies in NJ. I cant say for sure if any are getting caught off the beaches but from boat its all you want. Has to be some surf action somewhere at some point.

Albies are so sick I caught my first one down here in jersey last week, been trying for years! Thing was 28 inches on a 2500 Stradic greatest dat of my life I had to calm myself down as I was about to puke during the fight

Funny story it actually a makes a really good tuna salad. I kept one and cut out the red parts during a blackfin tuna expedition last week. Everyone and myself preferred the false albacore over the Tuna both in salad form AND Sashimi. If you clean tuna it is necessary to clean them the same way.
