I have spent 3 seasons in upstate NY for the Salmon Run in Pulaski the week leading into Columbus Day, and as a Mass Resident, the Canal is worse during summer striper runs.
Early morning you’re still gonna see this many guys lined up in peak season. It never ends especially the places nearby where you can park the car. To get to the good spots you have to get a bicycle and ride a few miles cause no one wants to walk that far with gear

@aismilee4793 thanks but no thanks I like going where I go I like surfcasting I hold my own out there I know everyone raves about the canal and it definitely is great fishing huge bass being pulled out of there and it's tough fishing with the current and all but if you think about it it's almost like cheating in a little bit of a weird way almost like fish in a barrel again nothing against the canal it's just I prefer to fish without people being inches away from me
It's for the people with no boat like me... I can catch big fish from shore and not everyone catch fish here.. also fish don't go by everyday or time for people to catch.
@aismilee4793 I also don't have a boat and catch a decent amount of wish the couple places that I know and like and I know fish don't go through the canal every day and I also said it's not easy or a automatic catch ever time you go to the canal I'm just saying it's sometimes a little bit like fish in a barrel granted you still have to have the correct gear know what to use and all that

It's just like fishing a jetty, it's a magnet for every googan and asshole on the planet. Fished it once and wouldn't bother again. I'll take the beach, salt pond or boat.
I fish it..!..I know people just need to relax and talk to each other more.. we all love the sport of fishing..and we all have story to tell.. sometimes I don't even fish.. just seat back and enjoy! Them crossing lines.

God it’s depressing the crippling pressure these fish face when going through the canal. Takes all the fun out of fishing for me personally. We have to respect the ecosystem and the fisheries more than this. This video sickens me.
