3:46 That has to be the longest flex head ratchet I have ever seen to remove a radiator support bracket! I appreciate a guy that likes to get away from his work! Nice work there buddy.
Like everything about your videos. Succinct, informative and concepts clearly explained. No blaring rock music or other distractions. I smell a professional. Best wishes.
does running a vacuum on the system also remove moisture from the desiccant bag? replacing my entire AC system tomorrow (pray for me) and i appreciate the knowledge you have shared
Awesome videos - you make me feel confident to tackle the job. I am going to replace compressor and condenser on my Hyundai after watching your video. The new compressor already came with right amount of oil in it. But the Condenser is probably dry. Factory manual says amount of oil in condenser and desiccant is 30 CC each. Should I add 60 CC to the new condenser? If so, where to add this? Can you please help. Thanks in advance.
Ashok, I am in the same boat, I'm about to replace the condenser on my 2010 Hyundai Elantra. I'm a novice DIY'er, not a professional. I'm under the impression I can just pour the factory specification of oil in the end of the yellow hose before I connect my can of refrigerant at the time of recharging. But it would be nice to have this confirmed by someone in the know. My receiver-drier is integrated with my condenser as one single unit, so I was thinking I'd only be adding 30cc. I wasn't aware of needing to also add oil for the dessicant. I'll have to check on that before I do my repair.
On a 2006 Elantra, is there a way to replace the drier (desiccant bag) without removing the radiator and condenser? I'm asking because the condenser is fine and doesn't need to be replaced. I just want to replace the desiccant drier. Or is the cap/plug for the drier blocked by the cross-frame of the car and the condenser has to be removed in order to gain access?
I wonder if, working from below the car, if all of the hoses and coolant could have been left in the radiator, and the mounting bolts at the top undone, and the radiator assembly lifted just enough for the lower registration pins to come out of their holes if the radiator could have been twisted slightly at the bottom toward the engine to give clearance to the bottom of the desiccant container to change the desiccant without physically removing the whole radiator assembly and coolant from the system.
You are a very talented mechanic. Great attention to detail. Would you happen to originally be from Guatemala? I lived there many years ago and your accent is very familiar. Cheers.
do the o rings come with the components or your buy them separate if so where you get them? I'm going replace some AC components in my 2004 Hyundai Accent looks similar as the design of the system.
Do we have to remove the condenser to insert the drier? Can't we install the drier without adding any oil? If we have to remove the condenser in order to replace the drier is better to buy a whole condenser that is coming with the drier already inside.
Hi brother thanks for your videos I'm a subscriber. Question please... I have a 1995 Lexus LS 400. The radiator fan is not activating. It does work because i tested it. I disconnected the connector that's connected to the ac receiver drier and the radiator fan turns on and stays on continuously the whole time. But when I reconnect the connector the radiator fan turns off. I'm trying to fix the fan so that it turns on when I turn on my air conditioner but the fan does not turn on when I turn on the AC. I feel like it has something to do with that connection but I'm not sure. Do you think I might have a bad sensor that's connected to the receiver drier? Thanks. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
desiccant bags are only replaceable on VIR and EEVIR receiver dryer systems nice always replace O-rings and uses pag oil on fitting ends. yes and if you are going to have opening fittings for along time cap the fittings with the fitting ends shipped with the component replacement (for moister ) or vaccum the system... nice video never new where this desiccant was located on theses systems
good day champ, i’ve toyota camry 2009 and i’ve problem with a/c gas that whenever i refill the system it just go away within two months maximum so i brought it to a repair work shop and trying to do a system leak test and there isn’t any leaks but there’s a blockage in the system which prevent the circulation of the a/c gas throughout the system and the mechanic advised me to replace the a/c filter that attached to the condenser(tube shape). what you think of that i need your advice please?
Do all desiccant elements open up with a 10mm hex? Need to know for my subaru brz that needs it replaced since the AC system was open for a while. I don't want to pull off the whole bumper and then realize I can't actually open the dessicate element tube
Is there a way to know if just your dryer needs replacing? My symptoms are that everything looks fine with gauges, I can even measure the correct amount of freon in by weight and the very best vent temp I can achieve is 64 degrees on hotter 90 degree F days.
Super old comment, but worth mentioning that your system can be absolutely pristine internally, but if your evaporator core is dirty or clogged, you won't get cold air.
for all r-134 systems, pag-46 oil is good for those. other freon systems require their specific oil, which u can find the label under the hood of ur car
Most expansion values are located on the back of the firewall to the evaporator core on the suction line a/c it is a couple of screws in it just make sure that the system has been evacuated so it will not hurt you or blind you even worser is usually a small Allen wrench just unscrew both of them and remove the old expansion valve a/c and put in your New one and put hoses and rubber gaskets on them with a little pag oil a/c and tighten them up don't script them you should be good to go long as everything else is and recharge the a/c system with the proper refrigerant from the lower side
Can you please tell me what type of fabric is this Desiccant element is made of? If you know the manufacturer of the A/C condensor's name can you please provide it to me.
Just to add to this, if your compressor is the variable displacement type like a lot of Toyotas, Gm's etc. do not use the PAG oil to lubricate, use the ND 8 oil because PAG oil is NOT compatible with that system. the seals can swell from putting PAG oil on the O-rings.
aye, replaced accumulator/receiver driver 2009 Hyundai Elantra. removed lower skid plate/shield underneath, then radiator supports on top. was able to get enough space to get the joB done. the video is great, very through. but not having to deal with lines was so much easier. great resource fellas✌️
would the desiccant bag be in the same area on a 2010 dodge Ram 1500?? reason I ask is cause I just replaced the evap core & in the process of putting AC box back in & just wanna make sure it's not in the AC box.
OO - I have a 2012 Ram 2500 4x4 with the Cummins, your system is similar to mine. Motorcity Mechanic has a good tutorial on how to do the AC system on our trucks, but the desecant bag replacement was was left out of the video. The bag is actually placed on the drivers side front AC condenser on our year models. Parts break downs on many websites don't list the desecant bags or show them on the parts break down/exploded view, but it does come in a AC kit. Just noticed you posted this 11 months ago, but wanted to put that info out there for other Ram owners.
This must be one of the worst dryer locations ever... I've seen it on some German cars as well. Not the easy separate canister like on the old Audis for example (you could replace them in a matter of minutes).
I love how every youtube mechanic says do it per your manufacter specs but then skips them actually torqueing to their specs lol they aint torquing shit... Buy ur cars manufacturer pubs tho and thats where u actually could get that in depth info but if u bought that pub u dont need these video tho fun to watch
Nice video for general knowledge... but it kinda sucks that you didn't actually show the install of the new desiccant element. You removed it and skipped to installing the end cap.
My car condenser the aluminum piece on the bottom got damage while i replace the radiator is that still be ok ? Anyone know please let me know thanks .

no
How’d it go?
Thanks. Very informative. Do you have also video on how to flush ac system and refill the compressor with oil ? And how to know the right quantity?
Awesome videos - you make me feel confident to tackle the job.

I can confirm. it's a 14 mm hex key. Thank you very much, this video helped me change my A/C Drier.

Lot easier to just remove the front bumper cover and the AC condenser comes out the front.
This video helped out a lot!
Can you heat up an old drier/accumulator and reuse it if it wasn't kept open for long?
What about those built-in receiver drier like Chevrolet Captiva. Any advice sir how to replace the drier. Thanks
do the o rings come with the components or your buy them separate if so where you get them? I'm going replace some AC components in my 2004 Hyundai Accent looks similar as the design of the system.
What is the torque spec on your vehicle?
Thank you Sr! good job

I have a question I have a 2018 Honda Accord when replacing the condenser do I need to plead anything or can I just add freon ?
Will the difference of one being plastic and the other looking like a sick make any difference?
When it needs to replace receiver drier in car A C?
Whenever the AC system is opened. For example if you replace a compressor, condenser, etc. or if you pop a line off. From what I understand
Tank you Man!! well recorded and methodical instructions
I like this video

I don't have this car, but I couldn't find a video for my car, so I watched this one just to get a general sense of what I might encounter.

What kind of oil should we use for the rings?
for all r-134 systems, pag-46 oil is good for those. other freon systems require their specific oil, which u can find the label under the hood of ur car
I have two of these same cars so this is great!
any posting on replacing the Expansion Valve?
It's behind your glove box most likely I just had to do this.

ND 8 is the same thing as PAG 46.
Great video! Thanks!
Where’d you get the o rings?
Fairly reasonable price to recover refrigerant? Should be free, they get to keep that refrigerant, considering the price of refrigerant.
Did not show how to put dryer tube
Great video.
How many years or milage should this be replaced?
I think you could’ve just taken the radiator support bar (over the radiator) and unbolt the condenser and not have to mess with the cooling system
aye, replaced accumulator/receiver driver 2009 Hyundai Elantra.
removed lower skid plate/shield underneath, then radiator supports on top.
was able to get enough space to get the joB done.

The dessicant element on my 10 ram 1500 5.7 was unserviceable. Had to replace whole condenser
Any way to remove the condenser without going thru the hassle of taking out the rad?
where do you get all those o rings? Is there an a/c system o ring kit?
Yes.
This must be one of the worst dryer locations ever... I've seen it on some German cars as well. Not the easy separate canister like on the old Audis for example (you could replace them in a matter of minutes).
is necessary vacuum AC before to do the job ?
only before you recharge

Right on 2nd one ruin 1st no show how dryer element shame
When replacing the condenser do you need to put new oil in the cooling system?
PAG oil is included with automotive r134a gas. Shake the can gently as you refill to keep the oil evenly spread in the refrigerant.
@@rollmeister PAG oil is not always included with R134a cans. Read the label first to make sure if it has zero PAG or how much PAG it has.
So Manny adds
Yep TH-cam sucks these days
Sr. there is no need to remove anything..All you need is an Allan wrench socket and a ratchet and remove it from the bottom ....
No way
I was thinking that because my condenser is much harder to remove, so just removing from the bottom will really help
ur the best the best the best
My car condenser the aluminum piece on the bottom got damage while i replace the radiator is that still be ok ? Anyone know please let me know thanks .
How did you come to the conclusions that you need to replace the desiccant?
consaka1 whenever you open up the system you need to replace your drying element (receiver or drier)
RatchetsAnd Wrenches lol oook..
@consaka. you don't know shit about servicing Refrigeration systems. Leave ratchets and wrenches alone and get lost!
4:46 looks like that car was designed to bill for more service hours😏
u dont have a cordless rachet?
Does it matter?
@@Bobo-t5u lot easier!
Gracias por el vídeo amigo.

You don't have to remove all that stuff. You can do it from the bottom corner, yes, we can.🤔
