Videos like this is why TH-cam is so great. I have the privilege of hearing and seeing people I never knew existed on this earth before. Sorry for your loss, I care.
So much respect that you decided not to vlog the weekend to just be present. Your grandmother sounds like an incredible women. Keeping a daily journal - a love for documenting must run in your family!
My grandpa has the same first and last name as me. He passed away this year on March 21, 2018 which was on my birthday. I dont really know where im going with this but when I was looking at the tombstone, it was like looking at my tombstone. Don't take your life for granted, every minute counts and most of all be with the people you love. That quote is kind of cheesy, I know, but it's true.
The best videos aren't always the ones where you're doing epic things and got slick editing. Sometimes it's the simple ones like this. Amazing story, thanks for sharing it with us buddy.
While I know this is a sad story... Living in Western Australia, I did chuckle at the "6 hours is a long drive" part. Over Christmas I drove 36 hours to visit my Grandmother... and only passed through 4 "towns" (only towns in the loosest sense of the definition). I loved the sentiment and the realness of this video Casey, it's a side we don't always see of you, so sorry for your loss.
There's something called a plane and when you get on one... I'm just messing with you but why not take a plane though, expensive? Thirty-six hrs is fricken crazy. Couldn't pay me enough.
How is 6 hours not a long drive? Sure, it's not the longest drive ever, but it's not short. Loads of Americans drive 36-more hours on road trips across the country, but most people take airplanes out of convenience.
Sounds like your grandma was amazing! Salute to her!! Also it seems as though your grandmother was the original daily "vlogger" with her daily journal entries...now we know where you get it from.
Laned i think the whole world is watching Casey’s Vlogs, if you watch videos on youtube and doesn’t know who’s Casey, i think there’s a problem with your youtube account 🤣🤣, i’m from Curacao 🇨🇼 btw.
When ever I hear stories of my grandmother's youth, I am always wowed. Thanks for the wisdom Casey. The part about not having enough food really gave me the feels.
My deepest condolences Casey. Thank you for sharing these stories. Life is precious, we often have no clue what people have gone through and sacrificed for the family and children. Keeping a daily journal, that's incredible. Your Nanna was a powerful and strong woman. R.I.P. Sending you and your family love .
Beautiful story.....thanks for sharing. I really like the fact that your grandma left resources for your family to get together like this.......great idea. Thanks, again. xo
Priceless! Even though your Nana is gone she'll always live on in spirit as long as you remember what she gave you...her memories. God bless her. Now you too have begun your own blazing trail of blogging & more memories to pass on.
Great video Casey. I think you shouldn't feel so shy or awkward about sharing things like this. You do it very well and I know we appreciate it because so many of us can relate.
Now we know why Casey TH-cams.... its in his DNA. He got it from his grandma. The fact that she wrote in her journal everyday is amazing, keep it up Neistat, yourtube is amazing too ;)
She was a beautiful lady. She lived the definition of what I call a real Woman,Wife, Mother, Nanna. A person that make sacrifices and does without so others can have...unselfish! Beautiful Story Casey.🙂❤️😇
A journal entry of every day of your life… The original vlog’ It runs in the family :) It is beautiful to celebrate a life when it has been lived as fully as reasonably possible. Best wishes to your family.
Casey, don't ever feel like you have to tell "happy stories" in your vlogs or that you have to keep it "upbeat." It's this sense of honesty and a sense of you as a person that keeps us coming back to your channel. Whether your vlogs are happy, sad, or anywhere in between, we love you. Keep up your good work.
Hi Casey, thank you so much to show this experience today. I been having a hard time the last few months. I’m a father of two loving boys 4 years and 2 months. And I myself been out of work due to my Sickle Cell Disease. So I been in and out of work all my life. And I been fighting to keep the bills paid and food for my family. And to hear the story about your grandma and family just gave the push to keep on fighting to get by. So thank you for sharing.
I think alot of people in our country today dont know the hard times that some of our early realatives faced (me included). Its hard to imagine but its good to try to remember and keep perspective. Also we need be aware that there are people THIS VERY MOMENT struggling and thats a place we need to not ignore. RIP Grandma. Thanks for sharing Casey.
Fantastic vlog Casey. This especially reasonated with me because my Grandma had so many stories to share and I felt like all that history and culture went when she did. I celebrate her life as much as I can and her influence drives me to become better and be better. Im thankful for you to put into words what I cant, but grateful that I can understand the sentiments. I would love to tell her story. Thank you for the share. -- From Japan, with love, Spencer.
This was astonishing, because we see the nice cameras and the cool drones and equipment, but we also see the vulnerable side and the side that lived in a trailer, but has built such an amazing career by himself, independently.
My Dad was a Holocaust survivor and his stories were abundant. Older people need to be respected for their lives and they rarely are. Here is to Nanna!
Wow! Story telling at it's best❤ Massive respect for not recording and being present at this time 👏 Journaling every day is so AWESOME and great for the family to look back at😃 Much LOVE ❤
The fact that she documented an entire year of her life, day by day is incredible. Guess it runs in the family! I'm the only one in my family who does anything like that at all. Can't relate to any of my family in that regard.
Casey, you didn't have to share this with us! But you did. And what a great Ood to your Grandmother it was! Beautiful way you put this together! Sending positive vibes your way PEACE LOVE & DREAM'S!🇨🇦 ✝💞🌐📷🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎼🎶🌏💙🌍💜🌎🌅☮💗☁🎬
That journal... I only wish my nana had kept such a thing. I feel like it would be the most wonderful, sad, happy, and just amazing gift that anyone could leave their loved ones. It’s made me want to go back to journaling daily... I did it pretty consistently from 12-19, but then I stopped and now I’m 30. Perhaps it’s time to pick up my old journal and start back up again, except this time instead of it being just for me, I could use the extra motivation of leaving it as a gift for my loved ones someday. Great video, thank you for posting it.
Amazing video, amazing family, amazing sentiment. Our great grandparents, grandparents, and parents each lived lives less privileged than our own in the hopes that their heirs would benefit. Your grandmother seemed to be an amazing person, and was one of many who paved the way for you to touch so many lives in such a positive manner. Much love from the Green Mountain State to you and your family.
I dunno how you do it Casey, but you managed to be such a big inspiration in my life. As a new TH-camr i can’t help but thank you for being the amazing human being that you are. Keep doing you Casey. I try my hardest to make it on TH-cam because of what you taught me.
What a class woman she was Casey. My condolences. She is a reminder that there are so many more good people in this world than not. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Your stories, vlogs, videos short films are always amazing. Your true fans will always watch and appreciate the content you put out. Thanks for making us part of your life Casey, you didn't have to but you feel like a friend I've never met. You're amazing, may your nana rest in peace and may you always be humble.. love all the way from Cape Town 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
I moved my Nanny in this April. I am grateful to have her with us even if it is so hard in many ways. I work all day with her and then go to my job at night, don't sleep much, but I am so grateful to know she is with family and being taken care of to the best of my ability. Thanks for sharing and God rest your Nana!
Casey that was amazing and very meaningful. Thank you for sharing that with us. It was so POWERFUL to hear that your dear nana had a daily journal, kinda like what you are doing in the last 5 years. Seeing and learning what our parents and grandparents had to deal with changes your perspective about lots of things in life and life in general. Thank you for the hours from now I'll think more and remember more about my grandparents. ❣
I’m sorry for your loss Casey, your Nana keeping her journal is like the way you keep a videos kinda like a journal you must get that from her 💜 that’s lovely xxx
Casey... thank you for sharing this. Always makes me (us) feel more connected to you when you share these intimate views into your heart. I respect you very much for sometimes setting the camera down and just letting family time be just family time. If you're ever in So. Cal in the "Inland Empire, " I'd like to meet you. That would be really awesome. Anyway, I'm sorry for your loss, but what a special way to spend time celebrating your Grandmother's life.
Tobias Eriksson sorry I disagree. Life is journey, this lady went past “3 score year and ten”.... she lived an amazing life and watched her family blossom, the hardships she encountered in her early years undoubtedly taught her children valuable lessons about work ethic etc. She must have been extremely proud of her ‘clan’. Death isn’t sad when somebody has lived a fulfilling life ..... remember death awaits us all - even you. Death is part of life, without death this planet fails rapidly. A life wasted..... now that is sad.
Thank you for sharing this! I think it pays tribute to your grandmother's memory and is a beautiful way to honor her life. As someone who has lost wonderful and loving grandparents, I can really relate. As bittersweet as it is to say goodbye, being thankful for the love they have brought in to the world can be helpful in dealing with the loss. Wishing you all the best!
We just lost our grandmother recently as well. Love to you and your family, and thanks for sharing this story. We've shared some of our grandmother's as well and have plans to share more somehow.
How sweet was your Nana? I am 67 years old. I wrote a journal for 20 years that my daughter Erin can go read in notebooks. And I am making her audio recordings of my current life and past events and stories that she can listen to when I am gone and when she can bring herself to listen to them. These things are important but in the end all we have is love ... and that is the most important thing we leave behind ...
Nice work Casey. Thanks for sharing. My grandmother just passed away last week, too. Flew to Michigan for the funeral on Friday and it was a bittersweet time to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, etc. Oh. It was a happy time. She was 102 years old!
At 62 I have no family pictures to look at, I threw them all away over the years. Dumb. Word of advice to the young, save everything, someday you will be glad you did.
Wesley Jones I'm 27, 28 in few days and I take 0 pictures of my life and sometimes I think I should. Thank you sir for this great and kind words of advice.
Thanks for sharing your Nana's story - wonderful post and thanks for sharing. So sorry for your loss. How cool you and your family were able to come together and honor her. And Congrats to you and Candace - didn't know she was pregnant.
It's such an amazing thing to see another family come together - as I have been so lucky to do as well, since the passing of my mother 10 years ago. I hope this get-together brings you many more meetings and time spent together as a family! Getting reacquainted is such an experience you never thought you could enjoy so much, and crave again when you were apart. Cheers!
Dear casey, Its not too often the things touch me emotionally. Now i don't have much 'family' being a foster kid, but i will create a 'family'. a true family. One full of love and no sign of neglect. I'm still young and i live in my cart so i can save money to then reinvest it in businesses, real estate etc. thats why i started my channel because i want to document my life, currently being eighteen. This video reminded me of the times i didn't have anything to eat. the times that sparked my hustle and my turn in to controlling my future. so i just want to say thanks for basically reminding me why i started. Keep Grinding and Keep growing Casey. Thanks- jonah feehery
Ever since I have been subscribed, Casey has always made it clear that his goal was to have a message or take away from each of his videos. What an important message this was, Casey! It is so easy to look outward when there is a tragedy in life. Questions like "why me?' "what did I do to deserve this?' or "why now?" can be overwhelming in most cases. The grieving seems endless and unfair. But it is because of these tragedies and experiences that we are able to effect those around us with what we learn from them. This video is a physical representation of Casey using his experience to pass on a message; the message of the importance of family, the importance of living in the present moment, and above all the message of gratitude. Now and then it is so essential to stop where we are and be thankful for all of those who have helped us get to our present stage in life. Thank you so much for this message Casey! This is what creating is all about.
Thank you for sharing ❤️ really got me thinking. Grateful for You’re perspective. Blessings to you and your family, And deepest condolences. She sounds like an exceptional woman 🤟🏼👵🏼
if you pass by a super charger or battery station, they replace the battery in less time it takes to fill a ICE tank, so while for some specific trip it can be annoying, for most it is not that much of a problem. And here you have access to restricted lanes to skip trafic if you have an EV.
When you talk about your nana it makes me sad & it makes me happy. I had some similar experiences a few months ago when my grandma passed away. I learned so many things about her life. Some sad things & some happy things. I read her "joyful moments journal" that she kept. It was full of moments where she felt joyful. All of them involved our family. It inspired me to start my own joyful moments journal. I used to be really good at journaling everyday, but as I've gotten older it happens less & less. It makes me a little sad to hear your stories, because they remind me of my stories. I'm so glad you were able to celebrate her life with your family.
I love a good Casey tale, your telling of it adds real depth and honour to clearly a great woman (your Nana) I'm sorry for your loss. thanks for sharing it with us
This whole episode just reminded me of a real life version of Elizabethtown, that film from Cameron Crowe about a celebration of a life that touched many others, a road trip, some great music, and lots of love. Thanks Casey a million times for sharing it with us.
Videos like this is why TH-cam is so great. I have the privilege of hearing and seeing people I never knew existed on this earth before.
Sorry for your loss, I care.
That's really nice.
abstractsbybrian Exactly how I was feeling
she was a rockette! and taught dance til she left!
Very well said
Such a special person. And she documented every day of her life, just as you do. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree

Paul Pichugin are there no airports near by

That means you only passed through a town once every 7ish hours on average were you not worried about running out of gas in the middle of nowhere.
Thank you Casey for sharing your grandmas story with us. She seems to be a beautiful lady. God rest her soul.
Buys Tesla, doesn't put it in the thumbnail . Power move

AuthenTech - Ben Schmanke isn’t it a Model 3? Also he said he’d do a TTT on it
Looks like a model 3
ReadyToGo nop its a X im sure about that
Haha, yea a full "Review" episode would be fun! And good question, I think it's Model X, SUV size, see 2:37
It’s a model x because the screen is vertical and it has a third row.

just what I was thinking too Brucey. Made me smile, but also get some tears.

Nice work Casey. Thanks for sharing. My grandmother just passed away last week, too. Flew to Michigan for the funeral on Friday and it was a bittersweet time to see all my aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, etc. Oh. It was a happy time. She was 102 years old!
My deepest condolences and sincere prayers are extended to you and your entire family....
Thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. Why would you throw them away. You make photos to look at them when you're old
Casey your nana was so sweet I'm terribly sorry for your loss she sounds like the best nana.
Thanks for sharing your Nana's story - wonderful post and thanks for sharing. So sorry for your loss. How cool you and your family were able to come together and honor her. And Congrats to you and Candace - didn't know she was pregnant.
so sad, yet so happy, but still sad at the same time.
sorry for your loss, but happy it was full of fun memories!
You are a great friend and person!!!! Sorry for your loss!! Full tank of battery!!🤣😂
Casey complaining about the drive while the car drives itself. bahahhaha
Cheers!
Dear casey,
Its not too often the things touch me emotionally.
Keep up the good work man and always stay strong!

Sending love to you from Argentina!
The feels in this clip... your nana is a legend 👍
You're an amazing story-teller, man!!
This feels just so much more real than your usual 'half-scripted' stuff. Thank you for this video Casey!
Your amazing work ethic comes from your family. Awesome bro.
My favorite video you ever made was "My Old Car" with your Nana in it. My condolences
Thank you for sharing ❤️ really got me thinking. Grateful for
You’re perspective. Blessings to you and your family,
And deepest condolences. She sounds like an exceptional woman 🤟🏼👵🏼
Love Teslas! I was lucky enough to be in one earlier this year. They are definitely the future!
Fancy seeing you here
AntsCanada they are a bit shit when you’ve gotta sit around for 30/40 mins to fill up bit stupid
if you pass by a super charger or battery station, they replace the battery in less time it takes to fill a ICE tank, so while for some specific trip it can be annoying, for most it is not that much of a problem. And here you have access to restricted lanes to skip trafic if you have an EV.
lamboman68 That's why you charge it like once a week when you get home
Actually already the presence right?
Man, that cake looked scrumptious 😋 Most importantly, I send my condolences 🙏
danz beard TIL a new word. Thank you :D
Condolences Casey, I miss and love your daily vlogs! Other you tubers are either unnecessarily over the top....or, are going crazy!
I'm so glad you were able to celebrate her life with your family.
anyone notice the nice vase on dans bed stand at 1:15 my grandpa has one just like it
Brennan Buck Lmao, must be a happy man.
Awesome family pics!
hey
rude
Ow, I didn't even know you were goin' to be dad again :) Congratulations Casey! :)
I love a good Casey tale, your telling of it adds real depth and honour to clearly a great woman (your Nana) I'm sorry for your loss. thanks for sharing it with us
Hey Casey She is and always will be proud of you, Like we do ✌
Wow, what a story. Also, get well Dan!
Sadness is not the enemy, avoiding it is.
This whole episode just reminded me of a real life version of Elizabethtown, that film from Cameron Crowe about a celebration of a life that touched many others, a road trip, some great music, and lots of love. Thanks Casey a million times for sharing it with us.
