  • Former Unitarian Universalist minister and assisted suicide activist, Reverend George Exoo was a leading figure in the right-to-die movement. In 2008 he stated that he has helped 102 people to commit suicide. But, reports Jon Ronson in this documentary, most of his clients were not terminally ill, just depressed and in need of psychiatric help.

      He acted as if he was God, and I believe that he believes he is God. I also saw and believe a few people he actually talks them into suicide. The rules for the authorities to approve assisted suicides, are that the person must have a unbearable condition, untreatable condition, must be mentally sound to make such a decision. They didn’t used to allow it for those who are depressed and wanted to die. The reason is that the person must be of sound mind, and there’s new medicine that comes out almost every week for depression. If one med doesn’t work, then u don’t just give up. You try another medication. You keep on trying until u find the meds that do work for u. This guy makes me sick. He also makes preachers and pastors look terrible.

    • @irisheyesofbelfast
      @irisheyesofbelfast 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't mean disrespect, yet it isn't our business. Belgium does provide for people with mental issues but there's criteria that have to be met. Some with mental illness have spent YEARS trying different meds, med cocktails, treatments, etc that have not helped. I totally understand that and if they choose death with dignity, it's their business. There's several videos about euthanasia in Belgium and Switzerland, and these people do not take the idea lightly. It is something they think about and consider at length. Regardless of what a person decides for themselves, I don't quite understand why people think they have the right to stop them. Who are you, or anyone else for that matter, to say that they shouldn't be allowed to end their suffering? How does it affect you or anyone else if a person chooses death with dignity? You can't expect people to believe that you or anyone else is worried about these people being punished by God. It affects you or anyone else who doesn't agree in no way, shape or form, so what makes people think their opinion should matter? You and others will not be around to witness their suffering nor will you be there to witness their suicide if that's their choice. There's absolutely no reason why you are anyone else that disagrees has right to say what they should or shouldn't be able to do.

    • @matthewstone1362
      @matthewstone1362 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@irisheyesofbelfast It doesn't stop there though. Take for instance organ donation. It started as a gift after death. Now its compulsory unless you opt out. Euthanasia is necessary for some people in their search for self determination. However from a legislative perspective, without proper oversight, could be a slippery slope to doctors having a say over your choice to live or die. Family members choosing your fate for nefarious reasons. The state choosing on spurious grounds and reasons. People have a right to choose but people (especially those with mental illness) can be manipulated and deceived by terrible people with their own agendas.

    He acts like he is God and I feel he thinks that he is and that he chooses who lives or dies. He doesn’t even care that medication would help most of these people. I struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts all the time. Being disabled, I get depressed all the time. But then I realized my life can still have purpose. I have a medical service dog who not only alerts me to problems, but he is one of my best friends. I have 3 other rescued dogs that I fell in love with and their story. For example, one was sexually abused. When I was called and asked if I had room for her, I knew when I heard her story that she would have her forever home with me. And she’s as happy as can be and loves me as well as my adult daughter (who lives with me) with all her heart, and she loves the other dogs. She’s so happy with a huge fenced in yard to run and play with the dogs. She loves the kitty too. Due to the abuse, she has a damaged hip, so she can’t sleep on my bed with the other dogs and kitty, but she’s on an elevated dog bed right beside me. She nudges my hand throughout the night to make sure I’m still here. So my life has purpose. I also help people who are terminally ill or elderly, to make plans for their pets for when they pass on. And it’s a comfort to those people knowing that their pets will have a home and be loved. So many people want me to take their pets. Obviously I can’t take that many pets unless I move to a bigger property; however, we always find someone they care about or love that wants the pet. So my life has a purpose. Here if I had been selfish and killed myself, I wouldn’t be a part of helping others. I feel that God decides when we will be born, and it’s Gods choice and decision to take us home. This man is literally murdering people. And he is choosing when and how they will die. I’m so grateful that I chose life

    Assisted Suicide to those who need help.
    notice that each story is about a Woman. George and also the person who took over his Practice was Both helping the suicides of Women. No stories or even mentions of helping a man to die. Seems to me that Ronson and the specialist was Right on the Button saying that it was a Sexual thing. George might be gay . But that doesn't mean that there isnt something a Little bit taboo about George`s Feelings to assisting the deaths of women.

      i think this is reading far too much into things. it should be clear to you that ronson also had his own agenda for filming and during filming the documentary, which is not a documentary in fact, because it was manipulated and stage managed by ronson, to make george look as bad as possible. george undertook difficult work at great risk to his freedom and received no payment for his services other than the one lady where he had to travel to another country. this was only to cover his travel, someone should do a documentary on how heartless doctors can be when it comes to sympathy for a patient who wants the right to chose to die

      The Bible says nothing about suicide. Murder is the taking of another life. As Paul said: All things are permissible for me, but not all things are beneficial. Jesus sacrifice on the cross paid for EVERYTHING. The Bible says nothing shall separate us from His love. He doesn't condemn little children at death, why would he condemn a person who is broken and desperate? Please stop putting things in the Bible that aren't there.

    • @cBearTV-

      Well to be precise murder refers to a person killing oneself ie you murder another person you don't murder yourself. Splitting hairs really, but to say the bible is anti suicide is a push, it's anti murder.
