Sir, I walked 10miles ( to school and back home), not too far from Kuravilangad,and I had only one skirt and blouse for school ( wash every day). One skirt and blouse to go to church,that's all.I didn't have any slippers either. My father was a farmer, so we had lots of work at home ( take care of calves and goats and cows). It was fun as I could play with lambs ( baby goats).My father used to tell me , that after completing my education, I could get good job and buy whatever I want. Today, I have everything, I have lot of clothes, very expensive, which I have not used.Unfortunately my father is not here to see my successful life.As we were farmers, not enough money, but,we had lots of rice paddy, blk pepper, cashews Oh,! plenty about 10 acres! I dream about those good old days.
I wonder if farmers with ten acres of land like your father and Mr Namboodiri did not have enough money , what was the plight of the farmers who worked on those 10 acres of land
Vignesh Nair, almost 10 acres full of cashews, unfortunately, our neighbors were very poor and we helped them in several ways, not only my father was very kind and God fearing, and he had only 4th grade education ( olden days, 4th grade is very good education).Again, lot of people took advantage of my father. By the time I graduated from high school, the cashew trees were cut down, and planted rubber, it took some time for profit. We still have that property, and my brother is handling it! You know what, instead of going to Maharajas at EKM, I chose to go out of Kerala for nursing. After nursing, left India, and I still live abroad, Good Lord gave me everything, so I don't need my father's wealth. My father's good advice and my parent's and teacher's love helped me to grow and prosper.Mr. Nambootiri telling the truth, I am familiar with such circumstances.By the way. my classmate one who went to Maharajas now retired as a Math professor, living with her family close to her home.

When people blame Brahmins for all existing social and economic problems, they forget life was/is not different to them. They were in poverty. But they shared what they had with others. It is good that you are explaining the original condition. Still there are so many brahmins spending lives in temples because they do not know anything else other than prayer and pooja. sad

താങ്കളെ സമ്മതിക്കണം. എന്തുമാത്രം പൂജാദി കർമങ്ങൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടാണ് പഠിക്കാൻ പോയത്?. ഞായറാഴ്ചകളിൽ പള്ളിയിൽ പോക്ക് കൊണ്ടും, രാവിലെ ആറ് മുതൽ വൈകിട്ട് ആറ് വരെ ദുഃഖ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചകളിൽ നിന്നും, കുമ്പിട്ടും പള്ളിയിൽ ചെറുപ്പത്തിൽ (വളർന്നപ്പോൾ ആ പതിവ് അങ്ങ് നിർത്തി) സമയം ചെലവിട്ടതുകൊണ്ട് എന്ത് നേട്ടമാണ് ഉണ്ടായത് എന്ന് ഞാൻ എപ്പോഴും ചിന്തിക്കും. കൊച്ചു കുട്ടികളെ ഇങ്ങനെ പള്ളിയിൽ നിർത്തി പീഡിപ്പിക്കരുത്. അത് കൊണ്ട് ഒരു ഗുണവും ആർക്കും ഇല്ല.
