one sikh from my town dadyal kashmir was converted ti islam , nobody forced him, all of the sikhs and hindus left the area but he refused to leave his home, the muslims of the town gave security of his home for many months so nobody kill him, then he decide he will convert to islam but he will never leave his ancestral home. he was very respectful person , people were calling him sheikh sahib.

there are a lot of Muslims both in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh who have ancestors who were Arabs/Persian. I’m Muslim Bangladeshi and my surname is Chowdhury, my family has Arab ancestors as well as ethnic Sylheti (people from north east part of Bangladesh a city called Sylhet) who were Hindus. After Hindus in Sylhet concerted to Islam, our Arab ancestors married these newly converts (this was approximately 700years ago) .
Bhai, There is nothing double standard about this, in Islam we are allowed to keep our family name as long as it doesn’t contradict with Islam.
And watching Indian movies and dramas has nothing to do with your ancestors or your surname.
