There are channels in this niche that have hundreds of thousands to millions of subscribers that have been demonetized. This isn't a good idea to go into. But Josh is making massive money off of this video because the "how to make money" niche is VERY LUCRATIVE.

Thanks for pointing this out. I started a Music TH-cam channel like 2 years ago and TH-cam changed their rules and channels that are really old can still monetize music but new channels can't. After that change, I stopped my music channel. 😢 This type of niche is not allowed anymore, unless you are your own creator and make your own music.

Sorry to break this to you, but recently YT has been going through and demonetizing "ambient" videos, claiming that they are simply taking an image, adding a looped sound effect, and posting it without adding significant "value" to the video. I know this because I had an ambient channel that was growing significantly, and without warning YT stopped paying me. They denied all my appeals as well, even though my content was actually original. I connected with other Ambient creators and they have all been experiencing the same thing (even the bigger channels). Seems as if it was too good to be true.

@@mse3162 There are still some ambient channels that are monetizing but like I said, YT seems to be doing a sweep across many of them and demonetizing them without warning. They allow you multiple appeals in which you explain in detail how you make your content. But in my case, and in others whom I got in contact with, they still denied the appeal. It has been very frustrating because it took 2 years to finally get my channel to a point where I was getting a substantial increase in subs and my checks were growing, then out of nowhere the YT bots went through and took it away. I don't mean to discourage anyone here. But this is what happened with me. I wish you best of luck and I would advise you to do more research before you decide to give up so early in your efforts.

Its not quite that simple as TH-cam scans the audio files now and if yours is a duplicate of a previous upload the video is not allowed to be monetized. The Relaxed Guy, who is an OG, does actual live recordings in the field.. So, he is creating fresh new content from scratch. Also, some of these files are massive. Some of mine are 60g to 80g depending on their length. Creating files that big takes a lot of time to make and then multiple hours to upload. Once uploaded TH-cam can take half a day scanning them, etc. Just pointing out that the time commitment with this type of work is huge. Loved the editing tutorial btw. that was great!

I tried to make an 8hr rain video and my computer just couldn't do it. Max size was 2hrs and it took DAYS to export. Oh well. It was interesting to try.
If you do a sound insert for example reading while the sound plays on the background, can your video be demonetized.
I see you have videos ranging from 10 mins to 10 hours. I'm assuming the large files and upload times are for the 10 hour videos? Even then, it should not be taking that long to upload and the files should definitely not be that big. What program are you using? What are your encoding settings?

Getting rich off crypto is much tougher than it seems. I keep losing money while trading with these youtub videos, and finding a trustworthy professional trader to help out with these trades also appears to be nearly impossible. This is extremely annoying

Okay, I've done this kind of thing before and can I just say, I'm really impressed. You nailed it. One thing you tend to fail to mention though is that it takes a looooong time to get traction on TH-cam. You'd be spending a lot on a monthly subscription for Epidemic Sound before you even get monetized and then get cents from TH-cam. 🤷♂

Only if they have ads. None of those have ads and so they don't get monetized. You can't go by what Social Blade says. TH-cam stopped monetizing those a few years ago. There are 1,000s of those already on youtube and they don't have ads on them. Thanks for sharing though.
100% Agree and TH-cam reserves the right to run ads on your Channel even if you’re not monetized and without having to give you a portion of the proceeds

You know these channels aren’t monetized right? Even then there’s thousands even tens of thousands of these channels on TH-cam with under 500 over the 500k subs mark which is when you start getting those numbers.

Some great tips thanks! The main issue is that Epidemic Sound and most others don't allow stand-alone use and for mainly listening purposes. They claimed copyright on my video and when I asked they said they don't allow a simple or even complex looping scenes with minimal movement. Their terms and services highlight that.
You must connect your channel with Epidemic so you don't get copyright strikes and claims but if you break their terms of use they will monetize your video, and if you dispute the claim then they will remove or block your video (they actually said that).
So the audio part is a bit tricky unless you're a composer or can make your own.
You also need a decent PC and very fast upload speeds otherwise it can takes endless hours to even get one long video up.
you're better off buying 100$ microphone, a massive hard drive and some basic audio recording software and going out to record sounds on your own.

To all the people saying that youtube demonitizes your ambient sound videos, I'm curious how you went about creating your videos.
Were you only using still images? Where did you get those images?
Where were you getting the music/sounds for the video? Were you layering different sounds or just one?
I'm not a youtube expert. I barely know anything about the platform. And I genuinely want to know why this doesn't work. It seems to me like if you're using royalty free materials that don't have copyright strikes, you shouldn't have any issues. And more so, if you're going the extra mile and layering multiple effects and sounds, then you're not producing the same thing as everyone else.
And I'm even more curious about the people who said they had 100% original content. Why would you have been demonitized if your content was completely original? If everything in the video is completely original (sounds, imagery, effects, etc), then there should be no way that happens. And if it was a mistake, it should be easy to overturn.
The point is that the final word in the monetization process lies with the TH-cam team. If you meet the formal requirements (1000 subs, 4000 watch hours), have no copyright strikes, and have followed the Terms and Services, all this does is make you eligible to apply for monetization.
Once you apply, a team of TH-cam employees will check your channel and make a decision whether you can be monetized or not. Their decision is completely arbitrary and they can list any reason whatsoever why you can't be monetized - not original enough, low effort, reused content, etc. If this happens, all you can do is wait for 30 days and try to apply again. If you get rejected for the second time, then you need to wait 90 days to try again.
A few days ago in Los Angeles. I recorded 2 hours of rainfall and thunder with my Zoom H6 and H4n (I bought both for cheap on Offerup, $100 and $50). Its crystal clear with cars driving past my house. I've slept off two nights now listening to it.

I came to this in the opposite direction - I'm a lifelong musician and making ambient music is one of my passions
Lately I've finally decided to start making a career of it
My dream is making all the music & visuals myself, so in a way I'm lucky - I shouldn't have any issues with monetization problems, since it's 100% original content
But that also means I prefer not re-using existing materials, which means a lot of work from start to finish...
After all that work, It's pretty scary thinking that TH-cam can just change the rules at any moment
So everyone should consider TH-cam an "outpost" for their business/brand/project, and have "home base" somewhere that's more under their own control (like an email list or hosted website)

New sub here. As a creepypasta narrator, I use many ambient videos in my videos. Admittedly many of the ones I use are taken from various games or someone has physically created. I use these particular ones as I require ones with a preferable creepy feel. If any I use already have music in them, I turn the volume right down (mute) as a. I don't know what the tune actually is and b. if I don't know then I can't credit the composer. So instead I use other music that I can credit to.
That being said, I have found that many of these videos the video creators aren't actually getting that many hits overall. Some of them having being making the videos for as much as say 5 years. I have been seriously considering making these type ambient videos myself, so have gone out and purchased a couple of dozen pc games so I can extract certain elements for this. I do already use social blade and many of these creators aren't making that much money. So maybe it is better for relaxation type ambient videos?
For an alternative video editor, I would recommend VSDC Video Editor. It is totally free and does also have a paid pro version. I use the free version and have done for over 2 years. It does NOT leave a watermark like some free ones do. It has tonnes of features and is pretty easy to use. There are also tonnes of tutorials available on YT too. You can also find tonnes of free sound effects on youtube.

Ah, nevermind, I see all the comments of people saying TH-cam is cracking down on this. Still, he provided a lot of useful info that could be used for other types of videos instead.
Just because social blade shows the channel is making that amount, does not mean the channel really is. Any TH-cam video can have ads whether the channel is monetized or not. It would also be incredibly difficult to achieve today what these top sound channels have been doing for years. They will continue to get all the views just like the biggest tree in the forest gets the most sunlight.

I'd like to try it. Maybe not the ambient videos because of some of the comments saying YT is cracking down on them. I really appreciate the way you demonstrate how to make a video in a short amount of time. I have a ton of videos of my dogs and of my travels that I could use to make different kinds of YT videos that others will find interesting. I'm going to get creative and try a few videos. Travel videos are great. My wife is notorious for watching really simplified videos. She occasionally watches "walking" videos. Where someone uses what I assume is a gopro and they attach it to themselves, and wherever they are in the world they are simply recording their walk. Sometimes there will be 10m intervals for a 30-40m trip through a city, where they are in different locations. My wife has watched them in egypt for example, people walking around the pyramids or in town. It's very interesting. No talking, sometimes no music either, just walking. You mentioned your travels so that's what reminded me. But here's an article I found that could help you decide on ambient videos. It looks like if you do those videos they just have to be slightly more creative than I initially thought and am used to seeing. Hope that helps, best of luck! There was a guy who built a website and sold a pixel for £1 as advertising space. 1 million pixels.
There was a couple in the uk, who started selling crude birthday cards when they were poor. Made bank.
Until you realize 90% of these “hacks” have high view counts but unmonetized channels

Most of these finance/self help videos are only meant to make money for the creator of the video. They're a vehicle to get you to click on their affiliate links or use their referral code.
Damn. You know they say we've entered a new gilded age. It's amazing this is possible and there's a market for it and TH-cam/Google are willing to pay for the content, but damn, we can't eat ambient music videos or heat our homes with them. Stuff like this keeps up much longer it's no wonder there's inflation and economy crashing. But good on you man, and maybe I won't be the last to the races either.

After doing a little more research, I found out TH-cam quit monetizing these re-usable ambient white noise and rain channels. Basically that niche has become to saturated with easy re-used content.
You can still have your channel, but you'll have to find other ways to make money from it like a PayPal, Patreon, or BuyMeACoffee links in your video descriptions.

Awesome video. That said, Anyone looking to get paid as an TH-cam Content Creators don’t even think ambient videos is the answer. Because, it’s not. TH-cam is looking for content, crafting, cooking, lessons, blogging, traveling, etc…. The list goes on, but with the exception for ambient videos -you won’t get paid. There was a time TH-cam Content Creators did get paid and no longer the case. The videos on youtube is usually hours long, from 4 hours to 10 hours. The tracks on epidemic is just 2-6 minutes long and the videos on videeze is also short. How do we get the videos 10 hours long or where do we get those tracks? Also the tracks on the youtube videos are slow, mesmerizing, relaxing sounds, which is not found on the epidemic platform..... How do I get those sounds please?

I've always been curious as to how these videos were made. Although, without placing ads on these videos, it would be near impossible to turn a profit. However, this idea can form a baseline for content people can create in different niches but with similar ideas. Thanks for sharing Joshua!
Joshua, your videos have given me so many ideas and inspiration when it comes to investing, side hussles, and money in general. However, what this video does not explain to your viewers is that if you aren’t a pro video editor like Josh here with a very good computer set up specifically made for editing and exporting high resolution, long duration videos…this process is MUCH more difficult. I only have access to a free video editor and my laptop which currently starts to freeze when making videos past 1 hour long. This gets worst the more layers of music, images, and effects you add. This is still possible but BE AWARE this side hussle requires a decent computer set up and experience with a video editing software for you to really stand out like Josh describes. Food for thought.

Yes and apart from that this is not good at all, he keeps saying you can earn 20 k a day but this is like 10 years, you can see that these channels have going on for years and making the same content yourself won’t bring their viewers to you that much. This is totally not worth and he is not doing it himself because he knows you can not win 5-20k a day that easily. He just posts this with the referrals of the TH-cam trends and Epidemic Sound he has to get his money.
@@EvaneroBananero dude at the end of the day he is trying to help us. He saw a channel that is potentially easy to make content for and could bring in a ton of money as a side hustle. You are talking like he is scamming you when he broke down everything in the video and the running cost is maybe $10-50 a month
@@EvaneroBananero He's not showing you how to grow a channel that is why the reward is so high. Take the time to learn every aspect of having a channel and growing it, when all the dots connect, I am sure the reward will be there. Yes, it will take time, and effort, I hope you don't think you can just slap some sounds and effects together and off the bat make money.
@@EvaneroBananero you can’t make money of these videos as you need to monetise the channel but you can’t do that as that put adds on your videos and if you doing these types of videos were people sleep or study and meditation with the sounds then they won’t want adds on them so you won’t get views and your channel will flop once you put adds on , plus you not gunna make anything just gunna get views and so it’s a waste of time as you can’t make money so doing it for free , it’s not low risk , high reward , more like low risk , no reward , make a channel something you like or know what you doing and you can make a channel about showing people how to do this how to fix that or something because that’s something you know , just an example but a lot better as you can put links to the things you use get money of it etc …. I know quite a lot about this stuff so better of asking me questions then this guy who made this video cause there’s no way of making 5-10k a day with this no way 🤦🏽♂️

you cant get monetised on these videos as you need to have adds and people wont watch the videos with adds as they want to go to sleep with it playing etc , and if adds pop up no one will watch and as you would not want adds to get more views you wont get paid because you have put no adds on your videos etc etc ,,,, so if you want to make a channel that wastes your time only gets views and don’t make money then go ahead but there really instead any point in copying all these channel as you can’t make anything and just doing it for views , put your time into something that will produce you money in long term or frequently 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️

@@mshumway78 exactly fair enough to him for making the video but he doesn’t go over why you can’t make money on these types cause you need ads , and all he says Is make $5,000 per day posting these videos witch is a lie because you need ads and people won’t watch these types of videos with ads , and it’s probably cause I only have a few likes on my text so won’t be at the top on comments till it gets a few more or something
I listen to ambient music to sleep alot and they have usually two ads at the beginning then no more and I don’t mind watching them or getting to the skip button then going to sleep to the sounds. Id never watch if the commercials were in the middle or scattered about

Awesome informative video. Gave me exactly what I need to pursue this. However, I will say that as I was starting my channel, gathering videos, audio, music, and doing research on starting an ambient youtube channel, I learned that this approach to monetization is fast becoming obsolete. Apparently as of late 2019, youtube has started cracking down on what they consider to be "repetitive content" i.e., meditation/relaxation videos with looping video/images/music. So if you have that sort of content, even if you get millions of subscribers, you're relying on patreon, merch sales and affiliate links for income, as you likely won't be approved for monetization. You'd have to create and license your own b-roll and music in order to stand a chance of monetization these days it appears.
So everything I did to get going was a waste of time? That's about right. Guess I will go with something else then.

this is what I understand as well. This was a very well produced video about how to make these videos but it seems unlikely one can make and $ from the adsense program due to the repetitive content issue. I've never seen actual proof from anyone of big payments for these types of videos. Also videos that are intended for someone to meditate or fall asleep supposedly are demonetized as you are to close your eyes during the video so therefore not seeing any ads.

The little thing that needs to be known it takes a while to get to that $5,000 a day because you have to build up followers and viewers.
