I just discovered this product. I received it today and I can’t believe how much carbon was in the ports! All 5 were completely plugged. Now I have a beat up receiver! My manual says not to take the gas valve apart. So I have never messed with it. I have struggled to clean this thing out. Thank you for a great tool!

@@colefinegunsandgunsmithing used today. No issues was amazed how plugged the ports were. Also the tip on Breech pin bolt was timely. The ports were so clogged had to use a brass pick to get the build up loose then the brush.. Question: is there a torque spec for gas port nut or just good and tight?

Stumbled on this video and bought the kit the next day. My son's A400 Excel Sporting has about 4K rounds through it and while I clean the piston and try to scrap the carbon out I could tell I wasn't getting the ports clean. This kit was great to scrap the carbon out. All 5 holes were clogged and before I could use the supplied brushes to clean holes I needed something stiffer to push the carbon out of the holes. I pushed a small drill bit into the holes to open them up before using the supplied brushes. Great kit and well worth the price.

very good video; thanks; i'll buy the kit.
But, how about cleaning the inner walls of that piston housing? for mine, I have to use picks or a very small screw driver.

A steel bristled brush works really well!

Do you sell (or can you recommend a specific brush) that will clean the walls of the gas chamber? Looks like about 3/4". I'm going to by the kit, but it doesn't look like it will clean the walls. Also, do you ever try to soak the gas chamber in solvent to soften or loosen carbon build up? Is this practical? @@colefinegunsandgunsmithing

I bought the kit and cleaned the gas valve as instructed. Some of this contradicts Beretta which tells us not to disassemble or lubricate the gas valve. Would you please clarify two points? 1. Are you recommending using Coles Gun Oil to lube or clean the inside of the gas valve? Should we be leaving a film or wiping the inside clean? 2. Can you offer a guidleline as to frequency for disassembling and cleaning the gas valve? How many rounds fired in between. I went two years and approximately 2000+ fired before finding this kit. Thanks!

Great video and instructions on cleaning the gas valve. Good explanation of cause and symptoms. The question I have is I noticed Beretta stakes this valve asembly retaining nut. What is the torque on re installing the gas valve nut?

Ideally you want to tighten until you feel resistance, but don't force anything beyond that.

Do you any more specific answer as resistance starts almost immediately. How about the distance measured of the compressed spring?

Ok great thanks for the reply, I purchased your spring tuning kit and noticed when reinstalling the gas valve retaining nut that it pretty much detents into the recesses I thought were stake marks. Makes sense know. Thanks again

Ok so I measured the distance between the interior steel pieces with dial calipers (which equaled the condensed spring distance) BEFORE loosening the end nut and it was .846. After cleaning the inside (the holes were packed) I put the end nut back on and kept turning it until I reached .848 which was the furthest the nut could go, i.e. I reached the end of the threads. (My background as a youngster was as a machinist). So it appears that at least for me, the end cap was screwed in as far as it could go from the factory. Before you loosen your end nut you may want to use calipers/ruler to measure the spring distance or in the alternative see if you can’t tighten it anymore before you loosen the spring so you know that your end cap also goes in all the way.

Very good explanation of cleaning, but I would like to know how to properly lube the gun after cleaning.

A good rule of thumb is to apply grease anywhere where there is metal to metal contact. Keep an eye out for future videos as well! We are going to try to cover a wide variety of topics in the future!

Hi tight do you tighten the spring retaining nut?

I would like to know this too. Video missed the most important part.

Above you say tighten until resistance (which starts immediately on a spring) and now say until snug. How about measuring the distance/length of the compressed spring rather than a subjective amount?

Does this kit also work on the 20g upland A400?

  • @Hymster

The gun works so much better since I used the kit to clean the gas valve. If you have a A400 or another gun that is compatible with this kit, just buy it, you won’t be sorry.
