Well good job on catching the spare truck 23X at the Malibu,CA Friday route in May,2024. Can you tell me the very last street names for the route sense I do not know? Also who & where might he go help after like Friday routes in Lake Sherwood,CA or Newbury Park,CA or Camarillo,CA or maybe Fillmore,CA.
it takes the instance where a driver complains about "getting stuck with the spare" to a whole new level lol, something like this should be the spare to the last resort spare
I like that type of garbage truck I feel like it looks different it looks super cool but one thing that I would have to do is do all the work from inside the truck so that way the guy doesn't have to get down.@@socalgarbagetrucks
Well I mean it's probably better than dumping everything into the back of a U-Haul rental and then unloading that. Maybe not much better but... Nice footage, thanks for taking some and posting.
I'll say, this was fun to watch, but I can tell it's wildly inconvenient to get out at every stop from a left hand drive cab and half manually sort the 96 gallon bins. For some reason I thought this was automated from the Instagram photos but, clearly, that's not the case. Nice job setting up these shots in the mountains, neat operation EJ has for these circumstances!
Thanks man! It sure is a pain to cross over each time but luckily my route only consists of 60 stops. The reason for the manual sort is to keep loose trash in one bin and bulky bags in the other so you don’t fill up one bin too quick. Thanks for watching!
I agree, the dump angle is pretty high and loose trash is bound to get spilled. Luckily it’s rare one of these does a residential route so for one off cans here and there it isn’t a big deal
Wow a flatbed truck with a robot arm and using dumpsters that looks neat and unique truck, I liken how the driver operates the arm from outside rather than using inside
Yes, a front loader will dump the bins either in a parking lot somewhere or back at the yard. This part of Malibu can only be serviced by mini trucks, while full size trucks can service the highway by the beach
Oh wow, that is really something differing. I cannot imagine many setups like this exist. Real hands on stuff to move the trash around in the dumpster when it fills up. How do the other two dumpsters get used? Please don't tell me you have to take them all off the back of the truck and reload them when one dumpster is full? How do these dumpsters get emptied, front loaded right off the side of the truck or some other way? Great video, well done and thank you for putting in the effort to get such a great and unique video!
Thanks for the comment! It sure gets dirty when you have to do more than just a missed collection with one of these trucks. When a bin fills up you gotta play a game of Tetris to move them around and put an empty one in the place where the arm dumps. A front loader can drive right up to the side of the flatbed to dump them if you need to get refreshed mid route, though most of the time we just drop them off at the yard to get dumped.
If that's the spare, they might as well go back to bags on the ground and use a tipper truck. That is ridiculous to even have an event truck or missed bin truck. I'll even go so far as to say a rear loader (with a good cart tipper) would be more acceptable.

Yeah it’s pretty bad. If we had more single axle trucks we wouldn’t have to use these for actual collection routes

this truck is probably faster then most spares nowadays
The truck is one thing, but that scenery shown in this video puts the cherry on top. Cool shit mate
@@GP500 thanks!

That truck needs to be redesigned so trash doesn't fall out when being dumped at such a high angle.

Nice catch
From 0:06 to 0:45 I never in my life seen a garbage truck like that one before.
So do these dumpsters on the flatbed get emptied by a FL once full? Does Malibu require only mini trucks, no full size Amreps can service Malibu?

Great video work! I guess if you have to drive the spare then Malibu’s a great backdrop - and you don’t have to worry about traffic in the hills!
That is true! Except when you come head on to a car on a 1 lane and one of you has to reverse a couple hundred feet

Super
what trucks are manual side loaders ej harrison has, I never seen them before?
the dreaded spare truck i see
maybe they should just buy another mini amrep
That’s what I’ve been saying
I never seen a garbage truck like this one before.
YOOOO A RARE SCGT UPLOAD
This looks so cursed not even a real truck bahahahaha
Cool
And how he dumps it manually too by hand
