    Another comment from me, to try again to express my appreciation. This is a recording for the ages. Balm for the soul. The guitar chords are so rich, the break is so powerful and musical, and the ending is like the end of a sacred prayer. I can only marvel at the fact that such a young man can do full justice to this song and these ancient words of wisdom. Without hyperbole, it is a transcendent listening experience.

      Actually it IS a Sacred Prayer. Straight out of the Bible. If you’d like, Read the book Ecclesiastes... Old Testament. I get great solace from that book. “There is nothing new under the sun” comes from there. And these lyrics as well: ch 3 verses 1-8. The entire “book” is very short and it is quite different from what we read today, but it’s worth it IMHO.

      @mcgubligan5045 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@adiematz2878 Thanks, Adie. I was aware of the origin of the lyric, but I was just emphasising how well Josh managed to capture the peaceful mood of the words in the end of his performance. The biblical passage is of great comfort to me, too, and something I hold dear as literature/poetry.

    Great job! Interesting thing about this song is that virtually all of it can be found in the Bible in the first eight verses of the third chapter of Ecclesiastes. It was written by King Solomon, son of King David. Amazing how relevant the words were then, in the 60s when this song was first made popular, and today. Makes a person realize that while so much has changed, there is so much about humanity that hasn't.

    Tank you for this, sir. For the song, that resonates today as loud as 50 yrs ago, and for the respect that you express by avoiding glistening voice effects. I like your soberness, it is refreshing and reassuring, it serves the emotion and the pleasure of listening as much as the quality of your sound does. Thanks

    Hey Josh, its really early morning here in Australia which sorta leads to deeper thoughts. I’m glad I haven’t been able to fall asleep yet as I checked your channel to see if you posted. I never really like or subscribe to anyone on TH-cam, I’m more a watcher but after watching so many of your videos for so long I think its time I spoke up. Its unlikely you will read this but the principle remains whether you come across this comment or not. There is something very different and authentic about the music you write, perform, cover, record, film, produce and present. I find before hearing you I already had eclectic tastes in music genres, and I’m a multi-instrumentalist and singer, originally classically trained on cello. Something about your music well before Covid-19 (which has ramped up my viewing of your playlists) sort of left me with a smile on my face and a sense of peace.
    It’s the same feeling I get when you perform with Carson, Reina and Toni, of which I’ve watched countless videos of you playing together countless times. I was going to book tickets for me and my girlfriend to watch the other favourites, but the smallest virus has caused so much cancellation and pain across the globe, including your gigs being cancelled.
    But something I did already know, but has been emphasised by listening to your music, is that there is hope. God is in control, and I’m a firm believer in him and the great love he shows to those who truly love him. The time for my faith in him needs to be stronger now more than ever, as people rise up to claim that God must be evil for allowing such calamity on the world, but as a Christadelphian, I know this are birth pangs of something much greater coming. The return of God’s son Jesus, back to the earth, to rule in peace and righteousness.
    Perhaps this pandemic however is not the final birth pang before his return, no man knows the day or the hour. But this song, the words of Solomon, remind me that God does have a purpose of goodness that he will bring to pass. Even though things seem dark now, he has provided little lights of hope.
    Thank you for being one of those lights. I’d love to meet you and speak with you one day.

    Oh man, the nostalgia!! I mean I wasn't even born yet when the original track came out in the 60s (I'm around Josh's age) but listening to this cover just brings back childhood memories. I grew up listening to a lot of oldies (i.e. my parents' music) and this song was one of them (in fact, it's my dad's favourite song by The Byrds).
    Anyway, I love this cover.

      @@ekkisoatima2449 Thanks for responding. There are so many reasons why one might love this song that I think it may be presumptuous to conclude that the line, about refraining from embracing, prompted him to post this song because of the Covid Crisis. Then again, he did post it on April 17. And he already has 64K hits. It's taking off like a rocket. He does do the song flawlessly. In any event, I guess we'd have to ask him if covid prompted him to post this

    • @whatsittoyou7199
      @whatsittoyou7199 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ekkisoatima2449 I just thought of something: There is an additional reason which suggests that Covid is behind this. He is using two doubles of himself. I think he is merging three sound tracks of himself to create the semblance of a band. I think he is saying that we are compelled to make multiples of ourself in the covid era. I think that's a very sad prospect. This crisis, it if is chronic, will make people less physical, less intimate, more autistic, more isolated and sexuality will regress to masturbatory activities. Man, we have to get a vaccine and FAST.
