- I honestly don't know if this is the Worlds Fastest Plymouth Superbird but I can tell you for sure it is the fastest one I have ever seen at the Drag Strip.
This 1970 Plymouth Superbird has a 521 ci billet aluminum Hemi engine, Lenco CS2 Transmission, 14-71 roots blower, body is made of carbon fiber and fiberglass, weighs 2840 and has had the best 1/4 mile ET time of 6.2 seconds at 230mph.
Let me know in the comments if you have seen a faster Plymouth Superbird than this one. Thanks for watching!
Drag Strip Location: Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin.

Thanks for footage Tom, we have a Superbird here in Europe called Voodoo Hemi. He`s doing 5.82@248mph last year at Santa Pod Raceway in UK.
I just checked that car out, thanks for the tip. Looks like it had a crazy fire 5 years ago.
I thought that you did kph
That is the old voodoo car I believe
Love that name, Voodoo HEMI.
@@bartbullock7817 Everywhere in Europe but not in UK where he runs it in FIA competition. Still 1/4mile and MPH
1:46 Didn’t expect to see a 67 cougar in the lineup, very cool.
Best of all this vid is at Union Grove, Great Lakes Dragaway!!!
broadway bob would be proud
My stomping grounds .. been going there for 40+ years 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@falcon4548 I took my first car there in '77. 1967 GTO, 4 speed with a 3.90 posi. I had no idea how to race yet, but managed low 13 sec passes which was fast to most or us at 16 years old. Last run of the night I pulled off a 12.80 after some "launch instruction" from a local Chevelle racer that we were hanging with on our first adventure in drag racing.
@@jeepmilitia2361 Niceeeee 😎🤩
Thanks, Tom. These are my favorite type of drag cars.I believe the Superbird was smoking the tires on the top end of the track. Track crew needs to throw down some traction compound.
Thanks for watching Rick, glad you liked the video!
The Super Bird is my favorite mopar of all time..
Hey brother, its always a pleasure to see 👀 the old school car's turning a good run in the 1/4 mile, thanks 😊
Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video!
Love the Superbird. The Savoy was pretty nice too.
Thanks for another great video!!!
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the video.
Beautiful Mopar!!
That are some great video footage at one of the best tracks that I have ever been at in my life this is where the term family drag racing came from
7.30's while pedaling it. Not bad. Would love to see a clean run in person.
That is one Moody car....Love it !
This car & the light brownish copper Impala/Caprice??? that run there are simply two incredible rides 💪🔥🔥🔥Do you get to Gus's cruise nights at all in East Troy? Wondering if those are still a pretty big event?
Bellísimo auto me encanta 😊❤
Thanks for posting. The launch of that Cougar was awesome but the Superbird caught up and won.
Very cool!!!!!!!
This is wild, we have a few over here but that Saratoga........dogs bollox right there,😎 UK
Nice Plymouth pro mod superbird.
Yeah baby, 🤩😎😲
Great Lakes is the best race track on a planet Earth I grew up and that's where I found and fell in love with racing I miss Broadway Bob rip Bob❤
That's a beauty..
The shifting is holding him up.
That's one bad bird
It takes a lot more money and experience than 95% of people understand to make a car like this perform at it's best. As a bench mark compare any of these cars to Stevie Fast Jackson's Shadow that recently ran 3.48 at 214 in the 1/8 which is 5.65 in the1/4. That was on those ridiculously small drag radials as well. Hopefully Superbird guy can keep making improvements.
basically breaking loose the whole way. insane.. might need to dial it down for that track
The driver's having a hell of a time putting it together though ...
Thank You Tom
Thanks for watching!
There is one called Voodoo Hemi Racing from Europe, they run in England, it is a promod and they run 5.80's
Thank you for that tip on the car in Europe, I just checked it out. Looks like it had a crazy fire 5 years ago.
What promod should be '70 and back body styles
A real steel Bird has gone beyond 270mph at Bonneville.
I can't wait to get back out to Bonneville Speed Week since it has been canceled and limited runs last year with the soggy track.
You’re comparing an apple to an orange
@@tomeighty Yep, it's been a tough two years. I need some popcorn-fart dry salt to have a chance at making a 500 pass.
Funny, all they had to do was put a couple more degrees of down slope on the nose and that was it from the factory shape . Wonder why more super birds weren't built as pro-mods ...
Definetely a sharp set up but seems like a set up like that should be down in the 5's.
Please take a look at a guy called Marc Hartfelt, who runs a Pro Mod superbird here in Europe, he has run in the 5s @ 230+mph
Sketchy track😳
I work on a promod car, 69 daytona charger, we've 570s
what class is it in?
Rip chuck
Florida has imports running 5 60 220 miles an hour
200 mph at Daytona nascar!
I just don’t like that huge mopar decal on the rear, it takes away the awesome lines of the car!
Machine’s a beast. The driver needs some practice.
Richard petty who?
Sleep at the tree lol..... great car
Not even close
Great lakes drag away need to show new events .bring no prep racing bring racing cars around the county tired looking at the same cars .
So where is the Big Bad Grand National???
Bet if it had better traction / control it would run 5s all day.
The graphic design over the real wheel well looks stupid.
But once again…the Bow tie was faster!!
On the slowest run he made that day. Every other run he made was faster than the bowtie.
That car was built for roundy round
Not the fastest... there's a 58 Plymouth that's a bit faster !!!
Someone ruined that car. It was made for high speed turning, bit someone butchered it so it only goes in a straight line. 🙄
One of the ugliest cars ever made.
That's one of the reasons they didn't sell good at the dealerships back in the day but they ruled the NASCAR tracks back then setting numerous speed records until NASCAR banned them for good . Once that happened most of those cars either got scrapped or sold & the others went to the Bonneville salt flats where they set several land speed records that still hold these records today .
Ugly, but pure speed cars..love them
Ugly better be good for it to disappear and it is.
I'd like to see them forget to unhook that golf cart and see it Go 200 mph !
Now that's the biggest piece of s*** on the f****** road
Why isn't he running No Prep
Yeah maybe the fastest for a racetrack but it ain't street legal
Can't fool you.
