Finidi George Step Down As Super Eagles Head Coach Amidst Controversies And Clash With Star Players

Finidi George, has stepped down as coach of the Super Eagles.
This was made known by the former Super Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye in a post on his X handle on Saturday.
The resignation follows the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) decision to appoint a foreign coach to oversee him, despite his recent appointment in May.
During his very brief tenure, the former Enyimba boss oversaw a 1-1 draw with South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic, both in the 2026 World Cup qualifying series.
“Finidi said the Napoli striker could still have managed to play these matches,”
“The coach will go on to say that it appears that Osimhen chooses the games he plays for Nigeria and he cannot beg him to play for his country.”
