Guys, Rob Riggle was a Lieutenant Colonel, he is a Public Affairs Officer with the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He is a combat veteran having served in Liberia, Kosovo and Afghanistan, earning over 19 medals and ribbons.

+Sun Wukong he's the only way to upbeat happy marine i've seen haha, my father r.i.p. was in nam 3 years in combat also hit with agent orange but later in 1972 became a drill sgt. then like rambo i did not meet him till i was 14 my uncle sonny retired cia could not even find him until i was 14 cos he lived off the grid, odd jobs but was in huntsville prison on death row for killing 3 men in texas, but he was defending his half sisters daughter from being raped again by these grown men, they had axe handle, machete and a shotgun, well my dad used all these weapons against them in a horrific way, and well his fighting skills, being a marine he shouldn't have killed them with their own weapons knowing he could/did take them away so easy....but yeah my dad did black ops too after his 3 years as a marine he was also in hue city battle yes the battle in full metal jacket based on the fight my dad went through as well stationed in dnang....but yeah my uncle sonny williams found my dad cos he was on death row but it was when he was pardoned and released to live in cibilo texas we found him drinking made him hard to tolerate ptsd from hell but loved him died in 2004 due to agent orange cancer all over lost his voice and i was on my death bed for 4 months from internal bleeding which took em a while to figure out my lacerated spleen...and mono on top of tat! so he died november 12th '04 and days before that my only best friend from childhood died in a hit n run 18 wheeler....just felt like sharing, got his, my dads ashes and medals in an urn on a altar/table reads USMC and semper fi! i buried the medals and some photos inside the urn of ashes when my time soon comes i hope to be buried maybe too have his urn in my coffin....BUT YEAH SORRY I RANTED I'M IN CHRONIC PAIN PAIN KILLERS make me happy for some reason....but yeah i knew of this guy he really is awesome and has a different attitude unlike a "normal" marine he was awesome in dumb and dumber too, playing twin brothers....

He's not joking about the human shield thing. I've done P.I.E./room clearing training and they actually tell you to use someone as a human shield if they've already been shot, so sleep well knowing that fact

freddy Krueger I was in the military and they get you into a mindset of looking at someone or anyone and analyzing the “threat level” and what you could do to make them not a threat so like I walk into somewhere I’ll think about what to do if a bad scenario happens
@@jhoskins997 same here man, I teach my girlfriend to look for possible sniper positions, exits, points of entry, where to sit restaurants.. etc. my last combat deployment wasn’t long ago though just a couple years ago so I’m still trying to mellow that side of me out.
He is so right about the constant surveying of ones surroundings. I can't go anywhere without an overdrive of reconnaissance. It is forever ingrained. Long aisles, corridors and wide open areas still give me anxiety. I have been out for 26 yrs.

I hear that a lot, but what should we call them? Genuine question. I have lots of marine friends who are *no longer enlisted*. I abandoned the phrase "ex-military" a long time ago, but I thought "former" was a good replacement.

It is so bizarre that he is a really a lethally trained killer and yet one of the funniest actors of all time
23 years! I only did 4. That Marine training sticks though. It's almost a game, looking for exit strategies and sizing up potential threats. Especially when your kids are with you.

How have I never known that Rob Riggle was a retired marine? 23 years, wow. Now, I'm not one for his comedy style and have always bashed that, I just don't find him funny, but being a veteran, the way he talked about egress points and ambush sites, I totally relate to this guy now. Amazing!
