Sadly as a printer lover, the number of times ive seen blurry compressed pixelated photos get printed out on copy paper and most people don't see anything wrong with it. Only other designers and artists seem to tell the difference
Same!! I worked in a photography lab for years and people would save photos off of Facebook, pixelated and compressed, and print them. The number of times people wouldn't even SAVE the photo and would screenshot so you'd see the "Like" and "Comment" buttons was so frustrating to me.
As a regular person, i can tell the difference. But I never knew there was another way to print which makes better quality. Guess it is kind of like operating systems. Most people stick with windows because they don't know of any alternatives (not trying to start anything, just using an example so don't start devolving this to anybody that reads.)

The company I work for is much like this but we've been open since 1888. We do have a website, but it is very outdated and none of the links work. We also have another guy who does it with just his machines and his fliphone. We use all the same machines he does too, its cool to see it on youtube

this is cool. Someone needs to tell him that his business could last a little longer if he tries doing any type of advertising. Like doing this Inside edition segment will probably help attract business. It wont keep him in business forever but it may extend it a little more. I mean you gotta at least show up in a google search lol
My family owns an offset plant, we migrated to printing boxes, labels and packaging 20 years ago. It was the best decision we made, from a small shop, the business grows to one with 200+ staffs and operating 24/7. Packaging is one area where digital printing wont be taking over anytime soon.
Sadly, with the right person teaching him social media, he could be making tons more money and earning way more business (which may require him expanding a bit). And if he's not already a millionaire, he could easily be one, simply based on supply and demand - He's doing this in one area, but what if businesses nationwide knew about his business?
A website can be a curse on a small business. I operate a business that would support a headless server on lets say, AWS, for your website. The server is cheap, but the labor isn't, your server gets constantly attacked, and you have to have somebody good at graphics art for the website itself that can operate a CMS. Then it has to be updated regularly both software-wise and with deals, items for sale, so on and so forth. A small business that has a good product, such as this gentleman has, really doesn't need a website, and it can be a money drain, IMHO.
This kind of printing put a family printing business out in the 80s that had the type that had to be set by hand. Each technology change this happens unfortunately.
It’s every industry. Digital dentures being sold as best thing to dentistry since tooth paste, but give those new digital dentures 6months to 1year, see what happens. I was raised, if you’re putting your name on it, you make the best you can. Convenient and cost effective digitizing seems to be killing a lot of that craftsmanship. It’s truly sad to watch.
