    Another tip is to render out multitracks once you are almost done with the arrangement of a track. This is mainly for electronic music production but i’ve had so many instances where the plugin has failed to load correct settings from an old project (especially when you’ve changed systems or upgraded waveform to new version). There’ll also be some instrument plugins that might not work with newer system. What i do is make a separate and bounce each track to audio in that edit or if i’ve already uploaded the track, just export multitracks

    Thankful as usual for the Tracktion content, Zane! ☺
    If i may add something, another reason to record audio & midi first: You should only start adding effects & compression & EQ & all that after you are able to hear how the whole mix sounds together, no use adding effects to individual tracks making them sound good, then finding out later that they don't fit well within the full mix.

    Thank you so much for all the efforts you put into making these videos. I know nothing about music production, but I write my own stuff and by watching your videos, I feel like I'm learning a lot!

    This really is an excellent 'go to before I start a project' video to remind me to be disciplined. Thanks for all your tips Zane.

    Man, I can't believe this DAW is not far more popular! At first glance, it looks a bit like a toy, but it's so well thought-out and has so many pleasant surprises under the hood. I'm new to recording and I'm just checking out a couple of DAWs, and Waveform just makes so much sense to me. It's really easy for noobs to get started with, but whenever I think it probably can't do this or that, there is a logical way of doing it that puts other DAWs to shame. And this is even true for the free version!

    Great to get some more Waveform content Zane! 🙂👍
    Not much new to me, bar the holding shift and selecting plugins bit. Much easier than making racks. 🙂👊👍

    Hey Zane! Thanks for all the vids! They're amazing! One question about reaper...I've been having render problems with reaper, it's very slow...have any tips? I'm seriously considering changing DAW...Waveform looks very good! Thanks again!

    Good one Zane. I didn't know about saving effects chains. Does that also save the settings of each plugin in the chain?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. When you save the effects chain it saves it with all of the settings for each individual plugin.

  • @mojophonic

    Good stuff Zane. I am still trying to make Waveform work in my creative process as it really does have a lot of stuff that is unexpected in a free or inexpensive DAW, like the saving of chains like you showed.
    BTW, any idea on the timing of 12.5?

    • @AudioTechTV

      It should be here in just over a week. Maybe two weeks.

    Lots of helpful info here, thanks very much. One question: if you save a template with plugins and a companion "bare" version template, what's the best way to get clips recorded using the bare version into the full-featured version to start tweaking and mixing?

    Tried saving them as Track Presets.. didn't work

    Love the channel, so on all of my mac I have an issue with waveform pro 12 and its still present in the latest update. I edit audiobooks and once say the number of cuts i have made to audio is getting higher , zooming in and out to in waveform start to become incredibly jerky. Iv never had this problem in any other DAW and Iv used Pro-tools and live professionally but recently switched to waveform. It does this on new machines and older ones and activity monitor shows that it isn’t really using hardly any system resources. Iv reported this to traction but the last update did not fix it. Have you experienced this ?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not a Mac user and haven’t experienced this at all. It’s always nice and smooth for me even when zoomed right in. Hopefully they can correct this for Mac users.

    Is there any way to record the outputs of mtk drums so you can see them on their individual tracks?

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're just wanting the audio for each drum individually you can solo the one you want then render that to audio. Repeat that for each drum. Or you can move the midi clip(s) onto each drum track and use the render clip feature down in the properties section. Make sure when the audio gets imported that you go into the loop properties (you'll find it in the bottom menu after you click on the audio clip) and you want to make sure that auto pitch and auto tempo are disabled just in case it does some weird stuff. Also you may want to make sure that there is no time stretching which you can also find in the same area. It shouldn't be a probably if you are just importing the audio into the same project but if you use the clips in another project you'll want to make sure those are turned off.

      If you are looking to have a track per midi channel/drum, you can use racks. th-cam.com/video/dEf02niQNAI/w-d-xo.html

    Hi. I saw ghost track menu in Waveform, but I can't find anything about it in the manual. So, what does it do?

  • @oldensad5541
    @oldensad5541 หลายเดือนก่อน

    First advice is not always a good one. If we talking about little saturation here and there, about room reverb, about decorative delays - sure, it's good practice to add them last, on mixing stage.
    But sometimes your plugins IS your instruments. Sometimes i make a delay integral part of melody. Sometimes i drown instrument in defussed reverreverb with granular rythmic patterns, and it's sounds nothing like original. Hell, sometimes, there are a night and day difference between original sound and sound under plugins, and chromatic intervals would sound different for each one, and if you will compose without plugins on, you will get a hot mess after you turn them on. Sometimes you need to compose by ear with plugins on, in real time 😂

    Hey do you know how to fix the red plugin error popping up on Mac for Fl studio? If so could you leave some contact information to talk about it !

    Could someone help me? How on earth do you record live effects manipulation in waveform?? I'm using a Valhalla plugin, and I'm trying to record live fader tweaks in order to manipulate the sound and get different nuances but when I play the track back it hasn't recorded any of my live tweaking, what do I have to do to get waveform to register my knob twiddling and have it recorded in track?

      I think what your wanting is automation. Here is a video on automation in waveform th-cam.com/video/XZgs0mfmCqg/w-d-xo.html

    With version 7 of my favourite DAW: Ardour, we have "Mixer scenes" that allow users to save up to 8 independent mixer settings called "scenes", including gain, pan, monitoring state, solo/mute, and all automatable plugin settings. Then you can switch between scenes using function keys - F1 to F8, even if the transport is rolling. You can easily compare versions of your mixes. Great feature and underrated DAW. :D Have fun! th-cam.com/video/olsiDzx4bM0/w-d-xo.html

    Question to my Waveform community. Does anybody know how to reset the ''recent'' folder in Waveform 12?
    I suffer from OCD and don't want things in there that I don't use, such as Delay.
    Please help. Its grating terribly at my soul 😁
