*This makes my old motor look like a toy **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it's well built. I haven't had it on the water yet, but I'm very sure it will perform just fine.*
A WARNING to anyone that is really looking at this setup. This ad is very misleading, it implies that the Xi5 is "optimized" for the PA 17T and the corresponding motor mount. However, in order to mount the Xi5 motor to the kayak, you will not JUST need the PA 17T motor mount (PN#72020090), but also the quick release mount (PN#72020100) around another $80. This fact is left out of this video and all supporting promotional material concerning the motor mount. I only found out about the REQUIRED quick release after it is referenced in the instructions for the motor mount. Oh, and good luck finding the aforementioned quick release, my local hobie dealer had no idea that this was even needed to mount many high end trolling motors.
I’m interested in the 105 lb thrust saltwater version for my PA 12 for use in the Pacific Northwest. Range and cruising speeds are one question? Battery add on ability? Adjustability of head unit height relative to shaft length when deployed? Propeller choice options? Propeller protection options? Motor mount break away in case of underwater contact? Thank you, any insights from someone who has hands on with this unit is appreciated!
could you drill into the hull of a pro angler 14 and put the mounts in it? The 17 is to big for just me, and i really like the 14 and the front hulls look the same.

Bass Pro and Cabelas carries the Xi5 quick release.
Hope to afford a pro angler one day.
Would Hobie ever consider making this possible for the PA 14? I really like this set-up and would purchase it for sure!
Nice video Morgan.
