I am a leader with tattoos and in the last nine years I have had several yp ask me about them "do they hurt?, are they expensive?, what do they mean? It is a part of modern culture but educating these young minds about them rather than redirecting should be encouraged. I agree that certain tattoos should be covered but not all. I remember a new scout coming up from cubs asked me about one of mine in particular which I have as a tribute to my late father and when I finished telling what it meant to me, I saw he had a tear in his eye, he said it looked cool and that my father must have been a very special person for me to have got it on my skin
If there was a blanket ban on tats on show for leaders then we'd lose Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections as we all have them, and I've never been asked about mine by a youngster. I do agree with you though in that they have to be in good taste.
This video brings up some interesting points. I’ve been around plenty of adult leaders with tats and never seen anyone raise a fuss. However, there will always be those who look at tats as a symbol of the underbelly of society. Great video. Def subscribing.
I usually wear a long sleeved shirt then one time at camp i had short sleeves and the Squirrels saw my tattoo. 4 or 5 of them spent about 30 minutes colouring it in with felt pens. They had a great time.
I have 3 tattoos 2 on arms and the other on my calf, mine are rarely on show, did look odd still wearing a Explorer uniform with a tattoo the looks were funny I was 19

100% turn it into a badge activity…. Design the leader a new tattoo 😀

Quite a few leaders have tattoos. I personally wouldn't get them, but don't see why leaders can't have them.
Same thoughts as me 👍🏻
Like you tats are not my thing but I know. Leaders with them and don't take any notice
That’s good to hear
