As a rat owner... the cage should absolutely never smell. Unless you're on a deep clean day, my cage almost never smells, and I can stick my head in and take a deep breath without smelling anything except the woody smell of their bedding!

I live with my family (of 5) and I could NEVER live in a van with them in such a tiny space. My dad always yelled at us when we would just talk a bit too loudly in the car because it was such a small space. Kids need privacy, van life is for single people or couples only, DONT HAVE KIDS.

I will say as an adult that moved out at 18 it is extremely difficult joe, but anything is possible. I ran away from home at 15, stayed with an aunt and payed rent for 3 years. I moved out a month after I was 18 from her house on my own and have been doing well enough since, but the prices are crazy out here. $1000 for a 1 bedroom is normal in Ohio right now. I would of been doing very well if I made my wage in my grandparents day. That's why I hate when people call all of gen z lazy, it's not lazy, it's a ruined economy

Joe made a great point about homeschooling. I was homeschooled my whole life and was never forced to do anything for school. Learned how to read and spell from playing clash of clans as a kid and was never involved in any sports or groups of any kind. So when i was in my teenage years, i was unbelievably anti-social and had horrible social anxiety, which was one reason that led me down a bad path of drug addictions. I'm now 21 and have learned alot, ive graduated highschool and dont have a problem making friends or talking to new people but i still have little interest in being around people, i still much rather keep to myself.
Do not homeschool your children if you have a disfunction household, and if you do, force them to be involved in sports or groups of some kind.
I’m homeschooled and it really does matter how you do it, I’m definitely going to homeschool my kids

Ive been in that experience where you constantly move, that shit is so annoying and doesnt help a childs development stay in one place if u can, i struggled every school i went to because i was constantly moving, yes i get that they r probably homeschooled but an actual place to learn and understand how to communicate with ppl is better than doing homeschooled imo but idk i need other ppl pov's
In my experience personally if it wasn’t for moving I never would’ve been to develop my social skills. But that’s just me personally.
I moved a lot as well when I was younger. Ive never made close friends and I never really feel "at home" anywhere I go

You can’t make friends as easy as most people because you don’t have security and you never know when you’re going to have to leave everyone you currently know behind

God this !! Grew up as a military kid moving every 3-4 years, with no way of contacting any friends I may have made till my late teens. Absolutely killed my social skills & confidence, still trying to recover. Could not imagine having to go through that every other week/month or however long these van lifers do 😭
My parents are in their upper 60s and traveling the world in their retirement, it def does happen, they go on vacation at least once every 3-4 months now somewhere in hr world.

If you’re doing a van life thing you’d need a property and you’d need to set it up with proper things so you can go back there and take breaks there, you’d need only ONE kid and maybe your spouse if you have one, and 1 pet, nothing too big like a great dane, just a small dog like a yorkshire terrier or a chihuahua, and enough money to deck out your RV/van.

As a teenager who fulltime rv's, I was the one who wanted to go full time. Are camper is 2 bedrooms 1.5 baths so it's big and just 2 people. I enjoy it and don't see any wrong with it, I go to normal school so that's just the same. Also there is no way that camper is worth 1 mill, my family's camper was 60k off the lot brand new(bought 3 weeks ago).

When you move for no reason its depressing and saddening especially for children, i've moved like 3 times so far in my life and ive lived fairly long in all 3 places but i never felt the need to cry because each time i completely understood why i had to move and was in a different place.

As a person who was homeschooled their entire childhood, I agree with everything you said. Thank fucking god I was able to do dance as an ‘extra curricular activity’ but the only places I ever went were church and dance. And I got bullied anyways for being the awkward shy homeschooled kid. When I got my first job it was such a shock, I realized I had no clue how to actually interact with people. Not to mention the fact that I had and still have terrible social anxiety. Before I got a job and was allowed to get social media at 16 I literally had 2 friends. My parents also kinda gave up on teaching me in highschool, it ended up being an ‘un-schooling’ type thing. So I definitely don’t know all the things I need to. I’m 20 now and terrified to try going to college because I genuinely don’t think I’m smart enough to pass the classes, plus I don’t know how to sign myself up anyways. If you homeschool, do it right. Or you are setting your children up for failure.
I home school and do no extracurriculars and he’s actually kinda right. I’m not that social and have HORRIBLE social anxiety, but I’m learning a lot more than I did in public school and my grades are significantly better

Im happy to say that my girlfriend and I moved out 3 months ago at 18 years old and a week after high school graduation. It can be tough but we both hold down full time jobs and we are making it healthily. Perks of working in the trades

I was homeschooled till 5th grade and my social interactions were church, Christian homeschool groups, and dance classes. It was so hard to make friends in public school and I was so behind and it was always so overwhelming. I had horrible attendance and was ditching in high school to smoke. I still feel like it affects how I learn and I’m terrified to go to college. Homeschooling is not helpful when it’s not good education lol. I never finished public school and got my ged a few months after dropping out it junior year

My siblings share a room or have movie nights in the couch, while my mom has her separate room. I don’t find rvs horrible, and I hate how people hate on them.
