      I'm brazilian. Thanks for this video. I'm trying to improve my English with this contents. This is a good TH-cam channel. So, some parts of Brazil are dangerous like she said. But in some parts (like where I live) it's not dangerous at all.

    Portuguese and Galician used to be the same language (helpfully called Galician-Portuguese). There are still movements in Galicia that say that Galician is just a Portuguese accent, being held back by archaic orthography, and want to join Portugal instead.

    Eita, essa é boa hem rapaz! Sawatdee-krup! I've done a year of exchange study in Muang Thai. I lived in Chachoengsao and I traveled everywhere north and south, from KrungThep to Koh Lantao and Kho PhiPhi to Khon Kaen and Chongburi.
    At the time, I learned to speak Thai reasonably well, I used english, that is my second language, to learn Thai. But unfortunately, since then I've forgotten much of it for lack of practice.
    It's been 20 years since I came back to Brazil but I've still got fond memories of my time in the land of the smile.

    She has an appearance very similar to indigenous women. If she spoke perfect portuguese and didn't say she was thai, everyone would think she was from some state in the North or Northeast of Brazil (regions where people have a very large indigenous ancestry in their DNA) or a typical indigenous woman. She is so beautiful.

    The Portuguese national myth states that once there was a Galician-Portuguese language and then they diverged into separate ones.
    Fernando Venâncio, a Portuguese linguist, though, has managed to demonstrate, beyond reasonable doubt, that Portuguese is more like a Galician dialect.
    You will notice that Brazilian Portuguese has kept pretty much both the pronunciation and grammar of Galician, so it's easier for us to understand each other.
    European Portuguese, on the other hand, was influenced by Spanish after the two kingdoms united. Portuguese grammarians reshaped the language based on what their Spanish counterparts had done.
    Besides that, their pronunciation - that drops most unstressed vowels - very often makes it too difficult even for Brazilians to understand. That's why many people say European Portuguese sounds like Russian.

    • @walterdearrudafortesjuni-wp5oh

    I mean, galego doesn't really resemble portuguese. Romenian is closer to portuguese than galego. It might sound close to those who speak neither, but galego is very far from portuguese.
    Also, spanish and portuguese speakers can understand one another, but spanish speakers tend to pretend they can't more often than not.

    • @ygorcoelhos

      No way. Galician is so very similar to Portuguese that in written form you can write entire sentences that are 100% identical in Galician and Portuguese alike, and in spoken form a lot of people just mistake it for Portuguese spoken with a strong Spanish accent. Romanian is virtually unintelligible with Portuguese, with much more different and divergent phonetic evolution, and a lot of Slavic loanwords.
