I find the fact that the valve gear and the driving axle are geared at a 2 to 1 ratio very fascinating. I do not know why they did that but it does sound like the locomotive is working a lot harder than it actually is
boiler is the 5th one now, the loco was restored in 1984 and ran until 1995/1996 ish, but it was laid up due to issues with boiler and bolts coming loose as the engine unit is attached to the boiler, the bolts coming loose issue is now cured using nordlock washers, and she was fully restored with new boiler from 2006 - 2010

I think it may even be 3:1. Though that valve timing does make it sound particularly choppy.
Nice touch having the loco engineer drink tea to signify all is well with the device, a bit like the captain of the Titanic in the film.
A funny association comes to my mind - that nice loco looks like taken straight from Moominvalley. The boiler is exactly like their house!
Thank you for sharing this magnificently eccentric and loveable little contraption.
Just too see Glynn working hard in real life
Lovely little loco.
Glynn from Thomas and friends aka TTTE is based off of that coffee pot
I would go to Beamish just to see this in action.

If I were ever to own a steam engine, I'd love for it to be one of these little quarry shunters
Nicely filmed video of 'Coffee Pot'. Enjoyable viewing.
I love this vlog, the place looks amazing. I wish that i would live closer, would be there all the time.
No creature comforts for the driver and fireman!
This coffee pot engine looks just like Glynn from Thomas And Friends
aye, that'd be what he's based on
Great stuff.
That is the same engine from Thomas and friends
I wish the USA had one.
Hi Glynn
