What you need to know about Chemicals in Sunscreen

Welcome back to my channel yall. Today we are going to talk about a topic near and dear to my heart: chemicals in sunscreen. Sunscreen is used to protect your skin from the Sun’s harmful rays by absorbing and deactivating, degrading, and reflecting the rays. SPF 30 protects for up to 300 minutes of sunlight but due to the environment no sunscreen is expected to last longer than 2 hours. The differences in SPF numbers show the percentage of protection from UVB rays, 15 filters 93% of rays, 30 filters 97% and 50 filters 98%. However most skin cancer is caused from UVA rays. High-SPF products require higher concentrations of sun-filtering chemicals than low-SPF sunscreens do. Some of these ingredients may pose health risks when they penetrate the skin and have been linked to tissue damage and potential hormone disruption. Some may trigger allergic skin reactions. I would recommend mineral based sunscreens, physical covering, and go outside during low UV index times like before 10 am and after 3 pm typically.
