It's so ironic that lots of stuff isn't made for hamsters but is perfectly suitable for them yet a lot of stuff that's actually made for hamsters isn't actually suitable for them
And it's funny that some stuff is made for other pets that isn't suitable for those other pets but is actually suitable for hamsters.

@@livingahorselife8485 wheels too small would do that yes. minimum size for a dwarf is an 8" wheel and for Syrians its 11". always aim for bigger

Hi Raechel, I'm planning to get an alaska cage for my hammy but I'm afraid that he/she will not have enough space to burrow. I plan to connect the alaska cage to a bin cage so that there is enough space to burrow and play. Is my setup okay? I already have chew toys and basically bought everything for my hammy except for food and bedding.

im honestly so grateful for the people who made the kaytee bedding. they clearly did their research, so happy it exists
The same company makes dangerous wooden beddings, scented beddings, cotton beddings, and countless other dangerous products. And of course, the only safe bedding, is the most expensive one

My hamster LOVES his cork tunnel. It's great because he really likes to chew on it and it's so good for his claws so I put food on top so he climbs on it and can scratch his claws. Both my hamsters loves whimzees
I own everything except for the logs/sticks. Your cage setup is so cute! I want to try to make a nature themed cage but I spent all my money on muffin’s current items. Love you! ♥️

@@hlc421 if it is a small Syrian 10 inch but you should get them an 11-12 inch wheel I recommend a 12 inch but it depends on you 💛

I love cork logs, whimzees and the silent runner wheel. Great idea about the magazine holder turned on it's side.
I've been saving for a hamster, and I got the big cage, the new wheel, hideouts, toys, but I still needed the sandbath. Then my mom surprised me with the dwarf hamster I had fallen in love with at the store. I was excited but realized I didn't have a sandbath, so i'm saving up to buy the scoop, sand, and eventually a sandbath box (I will use a different container for the time being)
Gotta love how only one (1) item on this list was designed for hamsters

when i was getting my two hammies, i had no knowledge on hamsters. i did so much research, and most of my education i received was from YOUR channel. thank you for being here and educating everyone on proper hamster care! it breaks my heart to see them in tiny cages etc. everything you get, i get now. you're a great hammy mom and made me a great one too :)

Hello! I commented not too long ago about my hamster (Nugget) and how I was worried about him. He now has 600+ of sq inches to run around in and no longer runs around in a ball, thank goodness! Ever since I got him a bigger cage his personality has come out soooo much and now eats in my hand and loves to be held! Just wanted to let you know things are MUCH better for him now! Love your channel 💕

My favorite paper bedding is Boxo Comfort it is brown, holds really cool burrows, and it is so inexpensive and eco friendly!

I have 2 hamsters! My first was a robo that I got on November 9th 2018 and my second one ( Syrian )on January 21st 2019 and they have great big cages! The robo has 711 square inches and the other one has a 50 gallon bin with 819 square inches! I have had bad experiences with clean and cozy sadly😭 it’s really dusty when I get it😭 I have recently switched to carefresh! It works better for my hamsters! It’s funny how everyone has different experiences with a product that is supposed to be the exact same
I like how only two of the products were made for hamsters/rodens.
That just shows how wrong made many of the hamster products is, like small cages and stuff.
Your videos are honestly so helpful ,if I didn't watch these I would have been caring for my hampster wrong !

I’m getting a mouse, and a lot of these hamster vids are also rlly helpful for mice, they both can use mostly the same products (there are a few exceptions....) I’m going to be getting a bunch of bendy brides to make a digging area for my mice and I hope they like it 🤞

Update: I got two female mice and they are amazing! I keep them in a 40 gallon breeder tank, and will be connecting it to the crittertrail supper habitat...
I think you should get 3 so if one passes the mouse will not get depressed but overall good job!!!

I had a dog named Scarlet, she had puppies, then ran away.
I just redid my hamster cage using a lot of the ideas from the German inspired hamster cage. The log you're using is the bark of a cork tree which has been peeled off and left in it's natural state. The silent runner wheel is my top can't do without item. My Syrian is very large and she runs for hours. I use the same pet bedding. My other can't do without item is a block that looks like a piece of Swiss cheese. My hamster Bean runs in and out of it and is part of her foraging trail now. Not very natural looking but much appreciated by Bean.

I will never use any other bedding than that Kaytee one. It's what I bought when I first got my hamster. One day I needed bedding and I just picked up a different paper based brand. It was nowhere near as soft and didn't hold the tunnels as well. Ivan hated it. He would fight me every time I tried to put him back in his tank. He loves being out with me, but this was excessive, too the point where I was getting really worried about him. The only change was the bedding. I switched back to the Kaytee and he's my happy little boy again.
