    It's crazy how good he is. After 20 years these clips haven't aged at all. It's rare these days to evolve from a freestyle skater to a street skater. He sees skating differently.

    • @ParappatheRapper
      @ParappatheRapper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      He didn't really have much drive to go into Street other than it was rising in popularity at a time when he needed to adapt or go into working a real job because Freestyle wasn't paying the bills. He'll always be a Freestyle skater first, Street was just something he did to make ends meet. He definitely did raise the bar and managed to combine the two styles into something that propelled Street into what it has become today. In fact, Rodney Mullen is easily one of the biggest contributors to invention of and making populare a great deal of all the tricks in Street. Not to put down other greats in Street skating of course, but trying to compete with Rodney is like trying to compete with a god.
      Anyway, no disrespect toward you but I think you are right in that he sees skating differently. I don't think he even really cares if he's skating Street or Freestyle. He's skated Vert but it's the one thing that he doesn't seem to really want to do, whether he can I don't doubt. I think skating has been so entwined with his life for so long he has transcended beyond what it means to most people. He goes out and skates somewhere by himself most of the time, like a monk training a martial art in the mountains, undisturbed and totally focused on this one thing that drives them. It's pretty incredible.

    There's truly nothing like the sound of a skateboard popping and landing in a carpark building!

    I would really like to see Rodney´s reaction to all "recreate trick..." videos that Jonny has done

    Perfectly executed you are so hard on yourself but as a result you now have one of The best nollie fs 3 flips on The planet so it was worth it

    Funny how skating hasnt gotten that much better after Rodneys era. Most people today can barely do any of his tricks while he did them for most of his videos or even in competitions where failure was barely an option. Most of skating today is people just trying to recreate his tricks rather than building upon it. It just goes to show how far ahead and dedicated Rodney was.
