I haven't watched Alan in a long time. I know this post is very old, but you grab the leader and pull the fish in. Kind of why you use 100lb test on the leaders. Years ago a buddy of mine would fish the north bar, out in the ocean, with 15 hoochies 10 feet apart. Yep, that's a 150 leader. Hated it when the fish was on the last hoochie and the seas were rough. That's a lot of hand lining, but very effective. I still remember the days before good braided lines were available and we used monel wire line. I still have a couple of those rods with the original line.
Joey Stribling in mid 2000's we already had full 1080p cameras available to consumers.....looks like fun fishing TV opted for the cheap route unless this was filmed in the 90s.
I don’t quite get the multiple hoochie setup. If they are 10 or 12 feet apart, how do you reel it in close enough to net/gaff the fish?
