You can put the 5.9 crank into the 6.7 to make a 6.4 also. Mainly done so they can rev the engine higher. 6.7 injectors also have higher injection pressure that help but 5.9 computers have issues driving them which is one reason to reuse the 5.9 injectors if you're not swapping electronics also.
Great content Rob. Thanks 👍 That’s great to know how and what will swap! Hey, doesn’t the higher displacement mean more fuel burned and less economy? Maybe for light towing just stick with 5.9?
Rob, I'm interested in qsb 6.7 info as well as isb info. I have isb 6.7's in my trucks and qsb engines in my equipment. I understand the principals of CPL numbers. I like the information you give regarding mixing and matching different engine components to make things work. Thanks
I cant find any info on 2013.5 or 2014 6.7 cummins changing spray angles from 146° to 145°. I am one who likes to be precise and I have a 2014 H.O. 6.7. I really dont want to mismatch injectors or have issues with tuning not being as precise as possible. Would greatly appreciate if you can point me in the right direction as to where I might find the info. Always a pleasure watching your vids and keep the content coming.
Is there a significant difference between the different piston bowl designs for the 6.7? I’m going to have to buy pistons and injectors for my build and I’m wondering which combination I should get when I’m ready to buy. My 6.7 core is a 2018 if that makes any difference.
If you have a good running 5.9 there’s no need to go to a 6.7. The 5.9 is a great engine. But if you’re working with a tired or dead 5.9 then a 6.7 is a great upgrade like the 5.3 to 6.2 for the GM guys. But the 6.7s are commanding more $$ then 5.9s and for 0.8L of more displacement ehh, I'm not convinced it’s a good value proposition.
👍👍why doesn't the 6.7 injector directly swap to the 5.9 head?... not gonna do it just curious..( the 6.7's around here won't ever get modded in equipment, ain't gonna piss with the 06 5.9 either, just wondering)...👍👍👊
The only difference that i ran into on my swap that i didn't know about from my research is the 5.9 fan hub and pulley will not work with a 6.7 front balancer. Also if you have an nv5600/nv4500 truck and you want to stay with that transmission like i did you will have to either grind the lip on the 6.7 crank flat or get your flywheel machined to accept that lip.
I believe you have to drill and tap a couple of holes to mount the VP44 timing case and change the crank gear. I believe it's been done a few times before.
Awesome video man! 🤟 ive learned so much from watching your videos, i really appreciate what you're doing here 🙏 Any plans to do a video on what injectors and parts to use when building a 6.7L p-pump or VE pump? I have a VE pump 12 valve and id really like to build a 6.7L VE pump engine to go in its place.

So, let’s talk mechanical…. What’s the best piston, head, injector selection for a P-pumped 6.7?
You would somehow need to put heads on with mechanical injectors. P-pumped 24 valves are a thing so it should be possible.
Probably the best info I’ve seen on this swap 💪
Great content Rob. Thanks 👍

Yes boss good job 👍💯🎉
Thanks 💯
Yes but the no fun part of my brain is telling me ripping out a 12 valve with 117,000 on it is a stupid waste of $.

i just found a 6.7 with low miles he wants to see my truck with a 6.7 said come n get it for 300.00 . glad to see this now
I did not catch the part about computer and electrical. Do you keep the 5.9 electronics, or upgrade them as well?
If I had a healthy 12valve mechanical 6bt, I would run it. Bigger injectors, more boost & a fass unit. Reliability over power.

So you talked about the common rails what are the options for adding displacement to a 2001 5.9?
What's the best non vgt turbo to use when swapping a 6.7 into a 5.9 gen 3 ?

What else needs to be changed if dropping a 6.7 into a 07 5.9 truck?

5.9 injector is longer from the seating point at the head to the nozzle than the 6.7
@jordangarcia1253 👍 thank you 👊
do we have a transmission up grade for an 06 with more motor?

6.7 Block in a 5.9 vp44? Would this work or is it not worth the effort?
I don't think there are provisions to mount the injection pump.

Is the 5.9 a junk engine? I always heard they were the last of the good ones.
Yea, why say it's good foe the scrap pile? Millions of them still running and doing great work for people pls explain....
