I LIVED in Skyrim for several years, escaping this world. It's this reason why I hate Todd Howard's guts for making us wait so long. Many of us no longer have the time to really play anymore.
@@ms_keiraI played skyrim in 2011, with 11 years old. I remember it as clear as today, how I saw a video of someone becoming a werewolf and going through whiterun. I was instantly hooked. Begged my mom at the shop to buy it to me, and because I was a good boy she allowed it. It was needed because it helped me through the school, where I was always different, introvert and surrounded by people that where toxic all the time. And it still helps me now, as an adult like it was before.
I don’t know if anything will ever compete with these simply because of the timing. Anything in the future will be too complicated and not just perfect
I started Skyrim when I was night shift 10pm to 10am in the military as a Cop. I remember being so entranced by the music, as well as the broad range of choices for adventure. Truly a masterpiece I’ll enjoy returning too.

I remember when i was 9 I would literally role play living in whiterun I chopped enough wood to buy breezehome and just roamed the city, very occasionally gearing up to join/help the companions
That's what happened when "Masser" hit me. I put my controller on the floor and just stayed still, chills all over, amazed by the divine music gracing my ears. I will never forget it.

THAT'S IT!!! It's not whether a game is technically perfect that determines it's value, but rather it is the emotional resonance one receives from having played it. It is this the fundamental quality that separates art from a product.
I started playing Skyrim a few months ago for at least once a week, and man you hit it right on the nose. The first time I really stopped and look up at night, I was leaving Riverwood through the northeast exit and had crossed the bridge and was just about to turn the corner in the path leading to Whiterun. I stopped walking and looked up, was greeted by the giant moon, and maaan..... it was magical for sure, but it was also just...really peaceful. Serene. It was a lovely experiencing, taking all of that in for the very first time. Beautiful game, splendid. I did get ambushed by a dragon shortly after but let's not dwell on that
The first time Skyrim engulfs you and you truly get lost in the world is an experience as a man I can only equate to camping in the actual wilderness on LSD, that’s a testament to Skyrim not drugs btw

There's always that one game with that bgm that always brings back nostalgia. For me it was Nexon's MapleStory. Pulled all nighters on that game back in Middle school
@@ZeroWFPF The nostalgia for me is going to be Cult of the Lamb in a few years. Playing it for the first time now and I just know in my soul that while it will always be amazing, I’m more than likely seeing it all on the first playthrough and won’t get this experience again. Skyrim is massive though, I’d played the entire story as a kid and I’m going back now and realizing that the main story is actually a very very small part of the Skyrim experience
I remember this particular day. It was summer and it was month before 1st year high school. Playing Skyrim at 2:00am then suddenly a deep realization hits me, the same exact scenery with the same exact music. Fully immersed myself to the world. Pulled out of trance when grandpa saw me still playing at that hour, he was little drunk at that time. He sat down beside me and talked about life, while we both immersed at the beauty of Skyrim. He’s chilling in Aetherius now
I remember playing the main quest at 2am and I'm fighting the first dragon we see resurrected with Delphine. Alduin talks to scaly dude and Mr. Lethal Lizard turns his head to me where I am HIDING BEHIND A ROCK and at 2AM I shout "HOLY SHIT!" .... for the whole house to hear 😂💀
@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305yes its better in terms of gameplay story and acting, but it dont have the same feeling or nostalgia, I played witcher 3 like 4-5 times but I've played skyrim like 20-30+ times like I honestly can't remember how many times I've played them, but for me the elder scrolls will always be my favorite fantasy series, the lore of tamirel is truly amazing even the witcher dont have the amount of lore put into its universe as elder scrolls does its an adventurers dream, This game redefined the rpg genre Skyrim walked so every rpg after could run, no matter what people says every rpg since skyrim has a bit of its formula baked into it
@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 Witcher 3 as a 3rd person action narrative rpg where you play geralts story, is good. That narrative focus and some player choices throughout make it easier to digest and follow. However as an open world and for exploration and roleplaying, Skyrim is exponentially better and more immersive as a world to roam as your own character. So many places to see, like unique dungeons with their own stories or events of things that happened. Lots of unique characters. Factions to join. Much more playstyle variety. You can be a werewolf or a vampire lord. Get married and adopt a kid and pets at your own house you constricted. All kinds of dreadful, or wacky, or interesting side quests. Daedric quests and artifacts. Good viable and intuitive crafting. Etc. Skyrim was just on another level when it comes to being a living world with your own character life and lots of stories and reactive npcs and lots of unique content and details and interactions to experience.. Witcher 3 and other games are good at their own goals but Skyrim stood out as a golden presentation of open world rpgs after its release. Even people that werent even gamers got into gamming with Skyrim, and I mean grown adults that started gaming with Skyrim. It was a cultural phenomenon.
@@Liquidvmgs witcher probably is a much better game "game-wise", but it can't touch Skyrim in terms of atmosphere and feeling of freedom and exploration. Not to mention the countless modding options.
Secunda is quite literally the most perfect nighttime ambient music ever made. The amount of times I've had this exact feeling. Sitting on a mountain top and taking a deep breath as you look out all across Skyrim
Yep, the music actually did half maybe even more of the atmosphere, because Jeremy Soule is just an amazing composer, who created a lot of crazy good soundtracks, and canceling him was a huge mistake for the series and for the industry as a whole (he wasn't even actually proven guilty let alone charged). Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim will be remembered as the golden age of the whole series, and TES6 won't be half as good, mark my words.
I don't think I'll ever fall in love with a game the way I did with Skyrim. The soundtracks, the World exploration l, the faction quests...everything was so cool
Did you ever get deep into Fallout new vegas? like really give it a try? for me they are both masterpieces. Fallout 4 is super fun for building bases and stuff too. The story makes roleplaying really difficult though. Every 5 minutes your character is yelling "where's shaun! where's my son!". It gets so old so fast. Hopefully the next gen fallout and elder scrolls games will have multiple voice options, if they are voiced at all, and hopefully a more open backstory. Thats what fallout 4 was missing IMO. That and melee outside of vats in fallout 4 is an absolute joke. Many weapons have one attack animation. so they cant even swing from multiple directions. Melee combat in fallout 4 literally looks like someone cutting trees in runescape classic. Its sooooo clunky. fallout 3, skyrim, and new vegas were miles better at melee combat, at least outside of vats. In fallout 4, vats is virtually the only viable way to play a melee build.
I remember my first time actually playing Skyrim on my wife's urging me to play it. We weren't married yet at the time, and we had a shitty one bedroom apartment with terrible internet access, but our PS3 was in good shape. I would watch her play Skyrim from time to time but I was convinced it really wasn't for me... She insisted I try it. Said to give it a day. I didn't even need that. I got past Riverwood, saw the event with the giant and the Companions. I went to help, and got launched into orbit. It was then that I knew. This game was a masterpiece. I played it so many times over. When I managed to rebuild my PC, I got to enjoy modded Skyrim, making it even more of a beautiful immersive world than it already was, and I just felt a sense of joy. Some of the camping mods allow you to really hit what it's like to be in the wilderness, under the night sky. It's truly beautiful.
This is it. Exactly. I haven't played Skyrim in years but it's the only game I've put more than a thousand hours in. It was magical for my teenage self. And it still is magical. You captured the atmospheric nostalgia perfectly. The very definition of immersion. The peaceful cool blues of the aurora accompanied by an incredible soundtrack. Peak gaming 👌 No wonder Skyrim is so near to our hearts.

Witcher 3 as a 3rd person action narrative rpg where you play geralts story, is good.

@@Thechivalrykiller let me tell you man I didn't think it could get any better then and it kinda hasn't lmao.
