I am a 38yr old woman living with sickle cell disease and trust me when I say no child should have to go through the pain we go through. As a parent you will be broken and know no respite all the days of your life. Watching your child beg you to make the pain stop!! I appreciate this movie a lot. Please I urge everyone to please go get tested to know their genotype to avoid pains like this at the long run.
Very informative comments. Two months ago my nephew (4 years at the time, now 5 years old) was diagnosed with sickle cell and had to be hospitalised for a little over 2 weeks. It was so heart breaking watching him cry out in pain.

Wow. Such a riveting movie from start to finish. Very important that couples get to know their genotypes before even dating or getting married. It’s crucial that having healthy children trump just being in love. Children should not have to suffer in life just because their parents were in love and knew that being together could cause them to give birth to children with devastating lifelong problems. The evil that people do will always follow them. Thank God for the grateful heart that Jessica had. I’m glad that she was able to find love again. Pray that Nelson will find a good woman to love and have healthy children with in Part 2.

This is such a heart broken movie. I understand the doctor saved her life but I could never let go of such deep love. It turns out that her blood type was ok but even without the blood type I would still marry and forget about having children. I wish if they could bring back more of this movie and put Sonia right back in Stan arms where she belongs, as true love will never die.
