Hello, I would like to tell you how much I have learned from your videos. I am a theatre teacher and just started a puppeting unit. I made a puppet based on your round headed puppet tutorial. I was wondering if you might make a tutorial about you pig puppet. I am interested in how the multi-shaped head is formed. Thanks and keep up the great tutorials.
this is brilliant. I really appreciate how little you use power tools and how much you use elbow grease. it's wonderful for watchers that don't have expensive tools at their disposal (like myself :p). thanks.
I really love your videos! And your way to work... I'm a teacher and thanks to you I am going to create my own puppet for my pupils! Thank you very much!
So I'm trying to make the mechanisms for a rod puppet cheap, I've made most of it like mouth, eyebrows and eyelids but how do I make eyes that move left to right?
Well... good question. I come from New Zealand, a very comfortable country. I gave that up to come to Colombia, a third world country. After a few years we had enough church support to be comfortable enough within this poorer context (hence the ability to have a camera and internet to be on youtube) Although Colombia is in the mid range, socioeconomics world wide, I understand what it is to be poor, as we work with the lowest rung of this society. About 4 years ago our support was cut, now we live on the same level of income, as this lowest rung of society here. So officially, that makes us economically poor. But, am I poor? I get to do what many people do not get to do. I am not a slave to some company, I get to experience things most people on the planet do not, and I am as free as one can get, within the context of a law governed nation....therefore, I am indeed, very rich.
I love how so many of your tools are hand operated.
Wow! going back in time. You have had that guy for a long time.

I just love your videos never stop!
one tip for you, if you heat up the pipe it could even be cut with a knife so you don't have to split it with a saw
Fantastic Phil! What a great idea, you have inspired me once again.

Hello. Does it work with different PVC sheet? Such as Pvc used as table cloth
Suggestion: look for a sign-making material called SINTRA. It comes in many thicknesses and is made of PVC.
Nice, never thought of that. I wonder what else I can make out of PVC pipe?
Be sure to post anything you come up with, I also make puppets when I have time, it's cool coming up with new ones.
another great tutorial Phil

There are youtube videos, search " animatronic eyes", they can be complicated but they give some idea of whats involved.
Wow! Great idea. Thanks a lot for sharing it with us.
Nice work! How do you mount the eye to the puppet?
I usually cover the PVC eye in cloth then stitch the cloth to the puppet.
Very cool.
