FYI- I work in historic roofing and our metal shop often uses brass mesh in conjunction with our copper components as a screen and it contrasts really well with the copper, in the event that copper screen might be easier for you to get your hands on quickly... Rigs look awesome!

You aren't the only person cutting it close on your crawler build! I can always tell when big comps are upcoming by the amount of customers who pay for express shipping 😂.
😆😆😆 When clients call up a week or two before they absolutely need *whatever* built by. I always go by the rule: You can have it fast, good, or cheap. And since I don't do cheap and my good is as close to perfect as I can get, fast is costly. Their panic becomes my problem and that's more profit for the PITA!

Nice media blast on that cage. Not to take business away from your friend, but something for you or for those without a friend close by with a blaster:
A DIY tumbler could be a good option. There's tons of YT vid's on making them. But basically a 5gal. bucket with lid, on rollers, on it's side with a motor to spin it. Add your work piece and sand and let it roll for a few hours or a day or two depending. Use sand, glass bead media, alum. oxide, etc. Crushed walnut shell is good for finer stuff. Cheap and fairly easy to make and no shipping required.

I would love to see a video from you on programming a silent esc. You make things look so easy and understandable. Great video Matt and both trucks look awesome.
Not every esc/motor combo is going to have a way to do that.
A brushless castle sw4 and a Holmes hobbies revolver is going to scream. A brushed hobbywing 1080 and a 21 turn 550 Holmes crawlmaster will be almost completely silent, just by turning down the pwm(pulse width modulation) super easy with the programmer that comes with the 1080. But it does effect torque, drag brake, and overall power delivery.
Silent= less power or feels less responsive.
My motor better be movie quality!

Pretty much all of my project delays are due to funding. No matter how much of a deadline I put on it. Both rigs look to be coming along nicely even if you are running out of time.

copper mesh? you can get brass screen material at diy stores (Lowes, Home Depot) it's in the screen door and window area

Hopefully it's not too heavy for red rocks, that course Is unforgiving if you crash on the upper sections the cage will be toast. Lexan is really the way to go, but to each their own.
Eh, it's not made out of spaghetti, I think there are plenty of things that would break other than the cage.
@@ryurc3033 red rocks is an unforgiving course depending on where they put the gates, its basically a vertical face in the upper sections. If he rolled it from the top it would be destroyed, I crawl it all the time.

Invert your shocks. Lower CG + less leakage. DO NOT listen to anyone who wants to fret about unsprung weight (as they hold brass axle weights.)
