We played it at my brother’s memorial service and it was perfect for him. He was such a wonderful man that he left this world never having any enemies.
A lot of people say this is a sad song because of the songs pace and softness. But as you have witnessed by this young man's reaction this song is extremely powerful and spiritual. And when truly listen how this song has an effect and awakens people.
You may not have recognized the guy at the beginning of the song dancing in the studio. The one with the big bushy beard. That was Rick Rubin one of the most sought after producers in the business.
after being almost 58 years I had to say good by to My husband as He had heart failure & Dr did all they could during the start of culvert I couldn't see Him last 5 weeks weeks His life It was the hardest thing I every did being a christian He wasn't I do believe He believed but don't know where He is That is why that song means so much to Me
After hearing this song I went to find the lyrics. The message I got from this song is the power of forgiveness. I thought wow what a way to get a message across. Its a good song. Made me wanna hear more of them.
I dare to say, probably one of the best songs ever written. Amazing documentary. So glad to see someone else enjoy it :) “Sanguine” is also a great song by them. Hell, they’re all great.
powerfull..... after being shot and was ready to pass over, this was about what was in my mind.... gave my car and house keys to my daughter and all my person rings, things, trinkets, will etc.... no longer hated anyone or had opinions on anything or anybody
I am passionate about palliative care and caring for those that are leaving this world, thats what this song brings to mind and heart. Haven’t heard this before but will put it onto my playlist. Thank you for introducing me to this group.
The crazy looking old dude with the beard in the beginning is their producer Rick Rubin. He was one of the co-founders of Def Jam records the first Hip Hop label.
Please please listen to Avett Brothers- Head full of doubt. This song changed my life. They have so many songs BUT this one is the best!!! Please add to your bingo ball thingy! It has a message for people feeling doubt or anxiety. ♥️
I have been suggesting the Avett (rhymes with "Crave-it") Brothers since I first found you last year, Ty ! Glad Steve also suggested this song. Another I have been asking you to react to since way back is the Avett Brothers' Through My Prayers. I KNEW you would love this song. They have many in their catalog that are deep and heartfelt. These guys are uncommon. My absolute favorite band and the only one I have seen more than once live.
I stumbled on to your reaction video while looking for a particular Avett Brothers clip to share with my mother. I'm super happy to have discovered your content and look forward to going through it. And am equally excited that you have shared this fabulously versatile group of musicians with your followers!
I cannot listen to this or Through My Prayers without outright crying. I have suggested both this and TMP to Ty since I first found him, wayyyy back before he had t-shirts and 74k subscribers.
Eric Cernech Seth has said it took him years (8 maybe?) to write this song, so it wouldn’t have been about his divorce. He did write Divorce Separation Blues, though, which is definitely about his divorce.
@@dianatout6236 well, that is true, to a degree. But he said he couldn’t finish this song until he went through everything he has. So in a way, it IS about his divorce. It’s about all of that stuff that’s happened to him in the last 8 years. The divorce, in my interpretation was what needed to happen for him to be able to finish this song after 8 years.
Really enjoyed this one and had never heard of them before. And to answer your question, I think it's not the "family" title I think it's the relationship that you have. I have people who are not my family but that are like my family and they seem to care for me more than some of the people who really are my family.
Been a fan of the Avett Bros for many years now. They’re unlike anyone else out there and they’re even better live. My wife simply cannot listen to this beautiful song without sobbing. In all honesty though, I can’t recommend their latest album. It’s horrible.
Their last 2 albums have been a departure from their normal style. Not the biggest fan of that but I will always listen to them even if I skip some of the newer tracks.
Kevin Rose They got way too political in their last album. I honestly don’t know when musicians and other celebs will understand many of us don’t want to be lectured to or otherwise don’t care to know their political beliefs.
@@TheBadTrad I'm sorry but I will never understand that argument. They are people with opinions, whether you agree with them or not. We are all allowed to voice what we think. Just because they are not like you or me, they should shut up? Come on. If that were the case, Trump should never have gotten a huge following since he was just a celebrity.
Kevin Rose Can you please point out where exactly I stated they should “shut up”?? They absolutely have a right to state their political opinions in their music, but I also have the right not to listen to these songs or give my money to them when they pontificate.
You implied it. Don't say you didn't. That is the basis of your comment. If you don't want to listen to or watch them, don't. Do you mind when a celebrity or athlete or musician says something you agree with? Or do you nod your head and support that person?
Got to see them years ago, along with Charlie Daniels. Really enjoy your reactions. You have a good perspective on a lot of music. You may enjoy their song "Laundry Room". th-cam.com/video/YCozYHhlme8/w-d-xo.html
I love love this song but it makes me cry a little bit.
Love this song . Its awesome
Great song!

This will be played first at my funeral.
We played it at my brother’s memorial service and it was perfect for him. He was such a wonderful man that he left this world never having any enemies.

A song to live by...as well as die by ❤️

I agree with you so much. This song makes me look at others differently and appreciate them more.
I can't believe you didn't shed tears listening to this tune.
After hearing this song I went to find the lyrics. The message I got from this song is the power of forgiveness. I thought wow what a way to get a message across. Its a good song. Made me wanna hear more of them.
Their lyrics are so deep. I hope you have explored more of their catalog.
Another great one by them is "I And Love And You"

That’ old man is Rick Rubin I think
I love The Avett Brothers, my favorite song by them is ''life'' they have a way of pulling emotions from deep in you with their songs
The Avett Brothers' The Ballad of Love and Hate is an "I'll never be the same again" listen. I wish I could hear it for the first time again
I cannot listen to this or Through My Prayers without outright crying. I have suggested both this and TMP to Ty since I first found him, wayyyy back before he had t-shirts and 74k subscribers.
39 likes for this? wow people! This is absolutely beautiful and means something.
If you have any free time, watch the doc from HBO. They're ..somethin else man. It's where this video came from.

This is a sweet calm smooth song.
You're a beautiful man.
The Avett Brothers have dozens of really nice songs. Strongly recommend doing another
Correction, they have ALBUMS of great songs 😀
He wrote this song about his divorce. Basically, forgive and forget.

Yeah, that’s right. I mixed them up. Been a minute since I watched the documentary. Thanks for setting me straight!!👍

I found them on Iheart radio. You can find some great groups and singers on Iheart in genres that you like.
Such a good band. Bon Iver // Holocene for some serenity
