The whole album this track came off is awesome. One of the best things I've heard in ages. When you're in your 40's and think you've heard it all, then you hear this. I fucking love music.
This is the band we will take our preteen granddaughter to see when they come around here. A young rock music lover, she deserves the chance to to say, " I was there."
I've found them fews days ago and I can't stop listening to their songs. It's like Fontaines D.C. have something more than the other bands of the last years, they're connected with the past punk rock music and yet their songs sound fresh and original. Hope their future works will be as great as Dogrel and they'll have the recognition deserved!
Just heard em for the first time on dutch radio (a dj spins a record recommended by a foreign collegue every week). Blew me away, simple riff, two chords, great catchy verse, Irish punk at it's best.
I need to see this band before they end up in arenas. I hate arenas. Give my dingy, dodgy intimate places anytime over impersonal arenas. Come to Newcastle soon, pretty please. That said would travel to Manchester; it'd be worth it. Grian we love you! 💜
This is so fine! Charismatic singer, tight band, great lyrics and arrangement, plus Sleaford Mods influence. In this modern age or any other, this is right up in there with the best there is.
These guys and Viagra Boys have reconfirmed my faith in new music. Can't get enough of both bands, borrowing from the past but sounding incredibly now and fresh. Nice one! Looking forward to Fontaines album. Ps showed this band to my son, I'm 52. He loves it too!
@SuperVHSchannel lol, very bold statement. The fall, maybe, but Joy Division? Fuuuuuck no. I know music is subjective and I respect your opinion tho, maybe listen to Unknown Pleasures and Closer all the way through and your opinion might change.

Absolutely spectacular post punk music and left of field delivery, I haven't felt this excited about rock music's possibilities since hearing the 1st 3 Wire albums & the Murder Capital.
Hi, sorry for writing to you after 4 years, but is that verse from an existing song or is it like an extra similar to the one in 'A Hero’s Death'? I'm a new fan and I'm just catching up with this amazing band. Thanks in advance.
Urm no they're not at all. And that clichéd comment is getting very dull. They are actually highly acclaimed and the NME recently stated they're the best band in the world. Hardly underrated
@@d.a.dproductions9121 yes but we know we live in world that 'talks' about garbage like Beyonce and Sam Smith etc. The better bands will always go under the radar. Sadly the masses have dreadful taste in music. I can't see that changing any time soon either.
No I am not going to do, I do not care what the people say, My back is up against the wall but I will not back down, I going to have my say, This is outstanding music, it is full of life, a little raw but real, great rocking music, makes my hands clap, my feet tap and my legs dance, it this moment I am dancing around the kitchen, in to the lounge, out in to the hallway, down the steps and out in to the roadway and I will not stop until this record comes to an end
Don’t matter your age: how many comments shall we read again about men’s around 50-60 who like-love Fountains DC, comparisons with Ian Curtis-JD. Maybe Mark E Smith-The Fall? This is a great band: so enjoy the lyrics, the music, videos…share your emotions, whatever you want. Your age? Blow the candles off…
Love this band, I really do, plus I've got a good dose of Irish blood in me. But i was half expecting him to start singing a tame version of Pretty Vacant. Song is great anyway. "Is it too real for yah?" Holy sh*t these guys are so good!
I need to stop obsessing over this band and many others that I was ignoring because they’re “too new”(annoying, ik) because once quarantines lifts I’m gonna blow all my money on concerts

42, saw them live this summer having never heard of them before and now they're my fave new band. Don't you just love it when that happens?
So true. Almost 40. Discovered this album a few weeks ago. Can't. Stop. Listening. Amazing how music keeps surprising.
Pushing 50 and these boys make me feel like I've hit gold with my secret bands from my teens!!
pushing 60........ but wtf... this is going back... great..
Played in the Andrea Arnold film “Bird”, it’s quite a jam!!
Just heard for for the 1st time on BBc 6 Music. I was bouncing around like an 18yo, I'm 53. This is a work of guitar and lyrical genius.
sailingric iam from Australia and have been listening to bbc6 for 10 months open my ears to some great bands and I'm 56!
sailingric it,s ok I’m 52 , same effect,
Give it up Grandads. I'm bouncing to this and I'm only 49.

Absolutely . I'm in my 60s and think the same. This is the best band in ages!
This is just exactly what the Irish music scene needs
Girls Names
thats what the whole world music scene needs.
Very true rob smith. I'm hopeful for the future
It's pretty good for the world music scene as well
Probably the best Irish band since stiff little fingers
Obsessed with this. These lads give me hope for the future of rock music

@Scouse Macca finally! Someone else who can see the truth. Absolute garbage band in every way.

I want to cry for how much I love all this. Great band, music speaking to my soul, plus you gotta love an intro of 1 minute and 29 seconds.

Waar hadden ze dit opgezet?! Ik had deze track ge shazamt in de plaatselijke kroeg hahaha
The bass at the end its brilliant 3:50 - 4:03, especially when it rings
You Havnt lived till Uve heard these boys live, truly brilliant
True
you're not kidding. saw them in chicago last week. absolute best!

It's at no. 20 in the UK upfront alternative radio airplay chart

Siempre en busca de nuevas bandas, siempre encontrando cosas como ésta, wowww no paro de escucharlos!!!
Dublin music scene gave me hapiness on music again. It began with Idles at London , then now all those amazing irish bands.
Banging tune!
These guys share a fair bit of both Joy Division and The Fall. I dig em.
I hear a lot of that with the addition of REM, the cure and the clash
and Sonic Youth
@SuperVHSchannel lol, very bold statement. The fall, maybe, but Joy Division? Fuuuuuck no. I know music is subjective and I respect your opinion tho, maybe listen to Unknown Pleasures and Closer all the way through and your opinion might change.
& the Dublin accent extra edge
@SuperVHSchannel I agree they are far more 'advanced' musically than joy division or the fall right from the start 'Dogrel'....
Roll on next year when hopefully I can go see fontaines....this tune will make the crowd explode..literally. Proud to be a Dubliner.
Come to Brazil!!!! Amazing song!
Just heard these guys for the first time a couple of days back and every tune is a belter. Albums ordered, can't wait to stick 'em in my ears!

Amazing tune and band
My friend told me about this band, rock music is still alive.
Absolutely spectacular post punk music and left of field delivery, I haven't felt this excited about rock music's possibilities since hearing the 1st 3 Wire albums & the Murder Capital.
Same to me when I first heard thier stuff on DR (Danish Radio). It blow my mind out of this cracking band. I'm 52,love it.
Crass comes to mind when I listen to these lads. Crass were brilliant.
The type of thing to listen to when you miss live music.
Gracias radio 3. Un grato descubrimiento. Yeah these boys sound really fresh and original

One criticism, at the end during the 'Is it too real for ya' it should really go on for half an hour!

Just ordered tickets for November in Manchester, yes!
This song reminds me so much of mewithoutyou - January 1979!!! Anyone else??

Absolutely
their best!
These and Girl Band. The Irish contingent are putting out some excellent productions. Thank f**k it sounds nowt like U2!
You could argue Dublin City Sky sounds like a U2 song
More like 'The Pogues' for me (personally), but I see where you're coming from. Early U2ish.
Just heard them at Glasto...they’re very very good!
Does anyone else hear a little Fugazi in this band?
No
Sounds More like Jake bugg singing sleaford mod songs.
Who gives a chuff - they are good or they are not - what ?
