I like what you are saying about a "lifting float"!! My pop (lost him a year ago) built just that in a "one piece float" back in the late 60's with Jack Conroy. Mounted the proto to a 182 for pics. It never went anywhere at the time, but my pop was an inventor and the "lifting float" concept is very usable. So glad you are trying all of that... it works and makes so much sense!!! Much love!
Nice airplane. Great for a family project. Imagine being a couple of young kids with a rich dad, who decided to actually engage with his family and everyone is on board for an unforgettable experience together on a build like this.
Key part rich parents.
Agreed. It's a very nice airplane but if I'm going to spend $1M on something that I have to build, I'd probably just go buy a Kodiak.
And you put your whole family into this experimental aircraft, somehow something didn't check out and.....
The inventor of the light emitting diode or led, was Nickolas Holonyak. He was credited as being the sole inventor also invented certain types of Lazers.
Married to the same woman for 61 years without children died in 2022
I read the same. I inquired just yesterday asking for clarification on that statement. Will report back. Thanks. Thanks for watching.
I was wondering the same thing…
what a nice plane❤❤
I O 540 TWIN TURBO ? 3 BLADE PROP , IDEAL FOR ALASKAN ADVENTURES OR PLANED VACATIONS ! I NOTICED THE LONG NOSE FOR TURBOPROP , SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT MODEL WILL BE ECONOMICALLY TO OPERATE , AND IF IT IS PRESSURIZED CABIN ?
Was General Electric so maybe his dad worked for GE?
Goal post just got moved for every other manufacturer! What a sweet plane and company!
A wing between the floats ' what a good idea .
Love this guy ' a real thinker .
Making Americans Cool again . 😂
I was thinking what an absolutely brilliant idea. Why has no one thought of it before.
@howardcroft3748 they actually did do this with early planes between the wheels
Specs on this are fantastic...and it's a good looking airplane
This is the coolest thing I’ve watched in a long time. Thank you
That’s a pretty slick looking experimental!
This could be a gamechanger for serious aircraft builders owners....thnak you!!!
Wow what an organization ❤
Thanks BrYan for another great interview!
Thank you. Good content. More information and demo of cabin size of the plane.
Looks great
I have never heard of comp air..beautiful
Wow... I love it
Wholesome content 💯🙌...
'What a freaking beautiful airplane
That is a very good looking airplane!
My dream plane , especially because of the 6 seats .
Great looking planes.
That is a great looking airplane!
Awesome looking plane. I can’t imagine ever devoting 3k hours to building it though!!!
Beautiful plane
it's definitely light ❤
Bravo.perfect
I love the planes.
Excellent stuff bro
NICE fly
Love it❤
This could do quite well in the market- I can't think of a single comparable.
Single engine 6 seat Velocity (if they will ever be released).
@@vitordelima this is bigger, and not everyone wants a pusher.
The Velocity 6 maybe. I saw it at Oshkosh. Damn nice plane, but unfortunately it crashed killing at least one person I heard.
Not in production, but Holloman Super Stallion
Wow, cool bird.
Very cool 💯👍
CompAir is a cool Florida company! I almost purchases a CompAir 4 in the 90's.
@EAA - Most excellent!
"EAC" actually. Thanks for watching! :-)
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel *red-faced. Emily Litella demeanor* ...Nevermind 🫣. BTW, are Longeze/varieze plans available?
Long EZ? Haven't checked in a long while but I believe so. There are several groups around that still support that Airframe.
Loved the mentality to design aplane with more focus on flight characteristics than on speed :-)
I doubt I’ll ever be in the market for such a large plane but this one sure is cool. Light aircraft designers/engineers are almost always very cool, very interesting people but this guy… I wish I could just hang around him and soak up knowledge
😎🎩♠️
Looks like a fixed gear Extra! The high wing model!
Looks great - thanks for introducing us to this aircraft. :) Wonder if it will have FADEC at some point?
HOLY CRAP COOL!!!! actually I am still holding out for the 6place velocity twin to come ''around'' but ;) THIS ONE IS AWESOME!!!
even if 6 peeps issn't the actual amount of peeps you wanna take, if your peeps are over 220 you're still ''good'' probababally!! :) TOTALY COOL!
Titusville- where I took my instrument check ride in 92
Definitely a niche for that
Any flight testing footage available? Parachute possible?
It's what I think of if I wonder what Cessna would have done if they made a modern 206 successor. Looks like the perfect Goldilocks plane. Too bad it's outside of my price range.
Love the aircraft, just too much plane for my needs… do they still make the 4 seat tailwheel? I always loved the look but not too many finished examples
So what is the wing spar constructed of. More non-ductile carbon fiber, plastic, legos, fiberglass?
Red t shirt Man, i trust you about what you did 👍👍👍
What does a red t-shirt mean?
@@SooperToober He was wearing 'red t_shirt' in the video, that's why, simple is that 👍
I am really liking this. I think this plane might be in my future and it would be awesome to build one. Would love to have this with a turbine. I'd like something to fly the family around and I want either the redundancy of a twin or a turbine.
you really enjoyed that tour , what a place , wish we could get them onto John Macinesses synergy build !?.
Talk to me.... what is going on over at Synergy? Georgia location or NW?
really can't get any real intell , hes gone from FB ,and some are saying his partners have shafted him ,taken controlling interest in the project .Be a good project for someone really keen on experimental aircraft to track down ,maybe ..not looking at anyone ...😇@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel
Ok. For starters do you know which location at Synergy? (Build Assist Center I assume you are referencing. And wich Aircraft as Synergy assists more than just Van's Aircraft these days.) Unless you are referring to a different "Synergy" Project? Please clarify... and I'll start digging, a little.
You haven't changed that smoke detector battery since college either I take it.
I'd love this in a taildragger...
Slick looking, man if i only knew. 😮 I'd bug you for a job without pay just to continue learning constructing of nice machines. 😂😂😂
Bryan,
What class of aircrafts is this aircraft is targeting.
Example;
Cessna 206
Piper Malibu etc
Also,
Is it possiblw to design an retractable nose gear assembly,so as to reduce drag????
Let me know.
I like this aircraft design
I wished you had included more video of the interior .
i have never seen a kit plane that large before
excuseme how it is the performance at High Altitud Density is it good for San Luis Potosi Mexico we are at 6033FT over sea level
I fly a Cessna 205 but been following this. Very cool. Exp should be able to shove a BRS parachute in it, no?
That would mean cutting the carbon fiber right? Wonder if that would change structural integrity. I would want a brs parachute also.
Yes
Beautiful airplane.
The only negative that I see is the hi glare shield / Inst pnl. which reduces ones vertical FOV; ( Field Of Vision )
Why can't aircraft manufacturers, including Cessna lower the dash for good over the nose viz for taxying and in flight.
Make them with low inst. pnls. like the early 60s 172s.
And I'm not a short as . ed person by any means - at 5' 11"

Nice to see a new featured aircraft & company. With some established entities bankrupt, hope their product stands the test of time & the company last .
I wonder if they're related to Comp ARF.
GE scientist Dr. Nick Holonyak, Jr., invented the first practical visible-spectrum light-emitting diode (LED).
Interior shots would have been nice.
The interior is pretty bare right now. Nothing fancy
One of this had crashed in Brazil recently. They changed the kit specs adding more weight on it structure. Changed the pros to four blades adding more traction and drag. Also added more seats. One wing was found miles away the crash site. A whole family was on it.
Sounds like mid-air structural failure. Was there bad weather?
Comp Air 9
Is it possible to install a ballistic parachute on this aircraft?
Single piece wing. How do you repair wing damage if significant?
Unbolt it and replace it
Looks like a Caravan and Pilatus had a baby
You win! That's the best description. This idea was in the back of my mind but I couldn't put my finger on what it was and you said it perfectly.
Have you ever looked into the new aviation diesel engines for use on your aircraft?
Like DeltaHawk? Plan to do something at the end of the year in our "Engine Week" series.
How much does it cost?
His father is Nick Holonyak Jr.? I wonder why he changed his last name?
Good looking airplanes from 50 ft...wonder what they look like inside, considering the shop conditions...I dont remember the CompAir stuff having a great reputation for quality.
How many times have you worked in a composite shop or built your own airplanes?
@user-bs8uu3uv6y As a 20 year Marine helicopter Airframe mechanic that did both sheet metal and composite work, an FAA certificated A&P, Quality auditor and inspector with experience at multiple aviation composite manufacturers and repair stations, I think I can say I've never seen housekeeping that bad in a repair or manufacturing environment. Dust is just one enemy of bonding, which composites, as you may have guessed, are so highly dependent on.
It’s definitely a good concept but I hope they have this one figured out over the other CompAir 6. I flew the TD version one time. My dad said he’d never fly in another one and we passed on buying one and I built a Velocity instead.
What didn’t you like about it?
What were your concerns?
Interesting but they should get it certified if at all possible. Also get away from lycoming who want 100k for a WW2 engine
My plane was in their hanger for a short stint. I tried to convince them to ls swap it
Mosaic is going to make that possible for you
Took the seats out to make a coke run lol.
Seems quite comparable but possibly borderline less efficient than a 210. I would assume this would be cheaper to maintain. No retractable gear
ok.. i ll buy..how much
Per price sheet on website until April 1 2024, with all 3 levels of builder assistance, you will be exactly $1,000,000 with new 350hp engine (196k) prop and spinner (35k), glass panel (90k) plus taxes etc, and that doesn't get you paint or upholstery yet
Who was your father, Nick Holonyak? Cause that’s who invented the LED brotha
New to experimentals. How does one go about an annual for this airplane? Does it need to go to CompAir since they know the systems? Do people use a regular AP?
you build 51% or more yourself. you are then able to do all maintenance and annuals yourself.
@@2321brendan Thank you.
Sooooo......how come you can't get an AirShark anymore ????
Didn't show the rear door operation and with the flaps down
Man I'd love to have one of those.
I'd also love to have pilots license. Sign 😪😪😪😪
Looks like a high wing Malibu , but I know it’s not
Great video, it shows the insight of Mr Ron Lueck experience of making Kit planes ,love the interview , the Compair Ca 6.2 T should be a Beauty , cant wait to see it flown ,by Ron on youtube, Sir a great interview of Mr Ron Lueck, Thank you for making the video, possible, Regards & Best Wishes to you All, Trevor.W.Bacelli. The nose looks like a Piper M350 / Malibu
I think experimental aircraft is great. I don't think amateur built should be a 6 seater. Keep the risk to passengers down by decreasing the number of seats.
I don't think you really understand the term Experimental in aviation
I think it is OK to take personal risks, but not OK to endanger others. The majority of builders don't build quality aircraft like Mike Patey. I am an A&P and worked in a factory that produced kits and customers built their planes. Some were quite good and others atrocious. It just takes one oversight to be dangerous. For example, using a crimper from Home Depot to swage your control cables, not using a Go-No-Go gauge to check the quality of the swage. It may fly fine until one day the connection fails and you have lost your elevator control. And yes you could try to correct them but they haven't read the books or studied the material but they know more than you.@@gilkennedy7638
I believe MOST of these KITS will be factory assisted projects here due to the project scope. Probably very few stand alone builds unless the Builder has assembled several Aircraft (or a Mechanic). Not saying it's overly difficult. But considering cost and time. Etc etc.
Um carbon fiber did not work well under constant stress, no?
I can’t seem to find a price anywhere on this thing. Unless I missed it in the video
No sir... you didn't miss it. Ron requested NOT to say that IN VIDEO due to the UP/DOWN pricing of materials these days. He requested people contact through the web or phone for a quote. It's NOT cheap though as you can imagine.
@@ExperimentalAircraftChannel ok I understand that, thanks
You’ll find the pricing on their website.
The kit alone is 250k, then engine and avionics. You’ll be $400k and 3000 hrs in before the first takeoff.
You had this 6.2 design for a long time, or else you could have saved a lot of R and D time by just buying the rights of the Super Stallion off Aircraft Design Calif. , designed by the late Martin Hollmann, and excellent 6 seat that can use either the Lycosaurus 540 or Chevy engines. Range is 2000 + miles, depends on how many wing compartments you close up for fuel, the Chevy engine is a bit more efficient. It look like a modern C210. The gear retract. There are about 4,5 flying.
"Permanently closed" ?
This could sell like hot cakes, there’s really no fast 6 seater experimental that can take work as an SUV in the air. What’s the price for the turbine built entirely by compair?
Their website forgot to renew its TLS cert.
Sooooo, they got the entire nose cowl right off a Piper Malibu???
Im so confused with Comp Air. They have a 6 seat, a 9 seat, and a 12 seat plane? Who’s buying the 9 and 12? Cool planes but experimental can’t be used for charter right? This 6 is a pretty sweet plane though.
How does he deal with galvanic corrosion having the carbon fiber and aluminum interfaced together?
The carbon fiber is covered in a protective fiberglass barrier layer anywhere carbon can come into contact with aluminum
The thing that kills most pilots is stalling. Is it possible to have an autopilot for the engine so that if the airspeed drops too low, and the pilot does not apply more power when the 'stall-soon' alarm sounds, the autopilot will automatically apply more power to avoid having the airspeed drop down below the point where the stall will begin to start ??
"Auto-Throttles" is a thing on Big Jets... not so much on the smaller GA Aircraft. Interesting concept though. :-)
Unless certified can never be used commercially .
Did he casually say that this dad invented the LED, as in the light?
Did I hear that right? I thought he said his dad invented the LED.
YES. He said that. I looked up the Father of LED and.... they have different last names. So..... I'm going to inquire about the story behind that or ask to clarify. 😊
The finished airplane looks fantastic, but this composite shop is NOT to general aviation standard. I would be concerned with the quality of the composites work.
Actually... it is quite typical of other Aviation Composite Shops I have visited throughout the years. Dust is dust. Fiber is Fiber....I guess?
It is like 500k
