Is RT really a gimmick? I'm coming from a 2060 to 5080 and the jump will be great. The price for a 4090/5090 is just absurd. I've contemplated the 4080S but 5080 is close in price and superior. So im on the 5080. You dont have to use framegen 🤷

@ If you don't use DLSS 4, then the card is actual garbage. A 7900XTX or 4080s is a way better buy cuz you can actually buy them at MSRP and they perform similarly with a 5080.
Some games, runs at a much higher power draw. And when you factor in raytracing the 7900 XTX is insignificant. New games coming out will require Ray tracing .. just like the new doom game.
@@entreri76x Very few people care about Raytracing, and benchmarks were not even grate for it with Raytracing. Also, the 7900xtx still does great in these Raytracing required games comparatively.
16 gb for a thousand plus dollars in 2025, nah... man, I'll pass on this generation. It should have 24 gb at this point and the 4070 should have 16gb. Nvidea is taking the piss.

I definitely recommend you to go for the rtx 5000 since the prices are similar to the rtx 4000 series. Although the increase is not much but still better for the price. Whether we like it or not, Ray Tricing is the future and the new rtx 5000 supports these technologies better. I will do the same. For those who already have an rtx 4000 it is not worth upgrading. But for those like us who want to build a new PC it is worth going for the rtx 5000

Shift every card down one class and it makes sense like Nvidia did with the RTX 4000. 5080 = 5070 Ti. 5070Ti = 5070. 5070 = 5060. Nvidia rinsed and repeated.
I will be skipping both Nvidia and Amd this generation. The 5080 should have at the minimum a 5070 it's way way to cut down from the 5090, which isn't that much of an upgrade over the 4090
ill be honest 4x frame gen at 1440p is enough to motivate me to upgrade. i have a 480hz oled. theres no raster thats gonna hit that outside of valorant, csgo, etc
GN, HWUB, and TPU mentioned coil whine on the 5080, the 5080 is hotter in the FE, frame gen only works well on the 5090, and the % price increase over the 4090 is about the same % FPS in 4K but not 2K. I'll just wait 'til the dust settles and they get all the bugs worked out.
I would imagine everyone in this comment section would love to own a 5090 (even if you hate all the new frame gen features) but with that said if you already own a 4000 series card I’m not sure if either of these cards are worth moving up to. I personally game on a 4080 which I enjoy but FOMO is a real thing 😂

Coming from an RTX2080 non-super, this will be a massive upgrade for me but I can see the gap for people who bought 40 series it is just not compelling enough

I believe their stance is looking at AI and software to be the future....it still need 2 to 3 generation for it to be good enough as native rendering but it will get there... this is their step in forcing thr market in that direction as it plays to Nvidias strengths in AI. Again 40 series to 50 series is not worth it but launch 20 to 50 in my case is a massive upgrade

30fps raw raster is absolutely wild for the most powerful graphics card not even yet on the market yet 😭😭

Snagged a Msi gaming x slim 4090 for 1200 in almost new condition a few months back. No regrets on that now!

I feel like after a month or two a drivers update will give the 5080 a decent boost. Don't know about 5070s being faster than 4090s though.
