Wow. Congratulations on completing this book! It's beautiful. I love your backgrounds and the colors you used. Can I ask what brand or color you used for those two bold blue backgrounds? So vibrant and bold. I love it! I'm assuming it was watercolor you used for those two backgrounds? Thank you for showing your work in this book.
Thank you. The bright blue backgrounds were done with layers of washed down acrylic paint for a non-matte mottled effect. The soft bluish ones were done with watercolor.

Thank you. Besides pencils, I like to use watercolors and acrylic paint (with very little water), gel pens for details, and Posca white for highlights. I find coloring therapeutic, too. ☺

I mean I'm always worried that it might leak into other side of the paper (I'm sure there's a word for this but it doesn't pop into my mind right now 😅). I'm dying to know how you did the amazing checkered back ground?? On the page opposite the cat???? And are u using water colors? An if so how does it not bleed through???? Your wok is incredibly stunning!!!!!
Checkered background: Metallic gel pens in 3 different colors were used to draw in geometric shapes in similar sizes to fill in the space. Watercolors: As they're mainly used as a base, I don't layer much and use water very sparingly. For solid backgrounds I use acrylics (again with very little water). The paper in Hanna's books hold up pretty well. It's always good to test out beforehand for different books. Also, thank you. ☺
I know you did this two years ago, but I was thinking of buying this book, so I watched your video. Your coloring is so beautiful! When you do the black background, what do you use? Don’t they show through on the other side of the page? I tried it once, and it ruined the other side of the page, think I used a Posca marker. Thank you!
Thank you. Solid black backgrounds are done with acrylic paint, with very little water (or none). Brands don't really matter, but consistency of the paint differs by brand, so testing on a separate piece of paper should prevent bleed-through. Hope you have fun with your book. 😀

Thank you. For backgrounds,I tend to use water mediums (watercolor, acrylics) and enhance when needed with pencils. Trying to find the right water balance is key, and I usually test first before committing. Not that fond of pastels, although I did use them from time to time.
