Cool Sam! I was in NC last week for a train convention around Concord. By the way what railroad owned the Norlina subdivision before CSX came along? You should add some history about the lines you railfan like Danny does for his videos.

Would be great to have been on the Norlina subdivision decades ago when trains went up to Richmond. Thanks for sharing

Nice catch! I've never seen one of those, its pretty sad that theyre all going away. But that makes them more special to see!

Another great video! It's like going back in time, straight out of 1995. Although I believe the best railroading days were before my time, I do get a little nostalgic seeing this, as I saw plenty of these when I was coming up. If you want to go back even further, believe it or not, there was actually a short line that ran east from Franklinton over to Louisburg. I'm not sure what year it was taken up, but Franklinton was quite the railroading spot once.

Iirc the Franklinton Railroad was pulled in the early 90s. The beginning of the end was in the late 80s. I was told that they had customers that would prefer rail but CSX started charging higher rates for cars from Hamlet so the customers were forced to ship to trucking.

How do you find out about these services? I've become very interested in the Norlina Subdivision's history and future recently.

I've got that same train as the northbound L617 in Wake Forest. It was a pretty cool catch that day

Sweet chase man! I think I’ve only seen one YN2 Geep in the last decade and have never seen one even move. I can’t think of the last YN2 EMD I’ve seen either, probably 2014-2015ish. Definitely one of the best things CSX has left to offer anymore.

    Really, nor-LINE-a, not nor-LEEN-a?

Correct, pronounced in the same way as “Carolina”
